  1. They'd be perfect for my 2 luddite friends.
  2. That Ebay active Laney looks pretty damn good. If we hadnt any monitors at all, 3 of those would have been ideal. The T.amp is probably the answer for the other 2 guys though.
  3. I'm not wasting my time, as you call it , because it's not my issue. I'm just posting on behalf of what the others want. I dont care how they sort it. I'm just asking questions I have my monitor and that'll do me. Yup, the Stagepas ( each stack ) just has a jack monitor out with just a volume control. But we have a passive mixer so this has aux busses, so we wont be using the Stagepas for monitors. I can pass on recoms. for amps etc. They want to hear FOH. All instruments go through PA. 2 guitars / 1 bass / 3 mics / backing track That Thomann looks like a bargain , as long as it doesnt produce sparks
  4. Good point, but you can just see the scenario coming up where one of the guys says ' mine's too loud '
  5. How far are ya ? Only kidding
  6. Oh boy - i didnt check the weight. Yep that bad boy is a no no. Lemmywinks has an Alto as well, so do you mean him or me ? Mine's the Alto Tourmax SXM 112A 400 watt Here's a link, and ignore the 800 watt. That's Beau Locks. 12” coax woofer, 1” neodymium driver - Continuous - 400 W ( 335 W LF + 65 W HF ) 11 Kg https://www.simplysoundandlighting.co.uk/alto-tourmax-sxm112a-12-800w-active-wedge-monitor
  7. Gets stranger - if you click on the tiny " buy new for £92 " - it takes you to another Albion for £74
  8. Yep, i saw that delivery - 65 squid for an 83 squid B Stock amp. In small letters, it also says " buy new for 92 " Bit odd - only 9 quiddies more for a new one ??
  9. My powered wedge is an Alto, funnily enough. My guys will not buy powered monitors, because we have passives available. So its just about which would be a good power amp, and how many channels would we need.
  10. The PA is an active Yamaha Stagepas 1000 but we have 2 of 'em. Each stack can run 1 powered monitor , but the only control over them is a volume control on the stack Yes Woody, one of the guys has a couple of passive monitors, so we dont need to buy more, but just wondering how to power them.
  11. Not in a hurry, as we're still in rehearsals, but in our trio, we have one 400 watt powered wedge monitor ( mine ) and the other 2 guys have nothing. The mixer is passive ( no one will be buying a powered mixer ) so at some point we'll need to be able to run 2 extra passive monitors. Can anyone suggest what type/sort of amp we'll need ? It's for on stage monitoring, so presumably, it doesnt need to be a beast. I assume that we need a dual channel at least ? I suspect suggestions of IEM's , but i'm only looking for answers to the above
  12. You tried to smoke a guitar ? Way to go
  13. Who the hell thinks less wood is a good thing, matron ?
  14. You need a left handed screwdriver. All the admins and mods have one.
  15. Yes, the shovel bits do have large central spikes, but since i also have Forstners, i could use either. Maybe safer to use the Forstners with their smaller spike
  16. And it's a big fat NO from me. Even his playing sucked
  17. I saw AH in Oxford in the 80's, but i never saw him before he got on stage, so whether he was tanked or not, i couldn't say, but hell, if he was, it didnt affect his guitar work, which was sublime
  18. Waiting 1 hour is the same wherever you are.
  19. After waiting only 1 hour, you post the above And now after only another hour, it's rediculous ? What's your problem ?
  20. As much as i can get down my neck. I'm sure i play better
  21. Selling to Francis was a smooth transaction, and instant payment - good lad
  22. Ukelele ?
  23. Get a bass for a 10 year old then. Problem solved
  24. No problem with 4" super wide strap. My 80's Aria Pro ll SB900 weighed 10+ Lbs but my 4 incher made it feel like an 8 pounder, due to the spread of weight from such a wide strap. In fact all my straps are now 4" coz i luv 'em
  25. The neck was a beatiful tight fit in the pocket - tight is always a preferred fit. Its all coming good. I'm nowhere as experienced as young Andrew, and with only a hand plane, i was very dubious that i could plane the heel level and square. I would have loved to have a table planer Still, by only doing a shave , then check, a shave , then check, ad inf. i did get it square and level, minus the 5mm it needed. Plan B bewteen us was always an option, as Andy had no idea whether his ink dye could get the neck as black we wanted, so fair play. The fretboard is lovely, despite Andy's first time working with such an unknown like Richlite, which has it's quirks. The fretting is bang on. So with some minor tweaks, and spray, we'll be on top of the game. A big thanks to young Andrew JR for the effort it took.
