1. I should say they didnt misprint it, but i photoshopped it
2. Spare a thought for us. We're on our 6th voxist in 5 years, and he's always ill, despite being the youngest member by 10 years
3. Jeeeez, you had a GF in the early 90's ? You gotta be like a coiled spring these days
4. Dont call me surely No it wasn't a misprint
5.
I'm glad you made this point. I'm not sure that you had made your feelings sufficiently clear previously....
6. FatFinger ? Some have had results saying it eliminated a dead spot , others have said it moved the dead spot somewhere else, others said it makes no difference I had a Squier Modified J fretless that had a typical dead spot on the G string 7th fret - dont have the bass anymore, but of my current 4 basses, the Vintage MM clone has one in the same place, but its not my gigging bass, so no matter
7. No matter what i've tried, i've never managed to balance a P in the neck volume with a J in the bridge, even with adjustable poles I guess it depends on the pup builder
8. I cannot make the video appear, like others have managed ?.. so its just a link
9. Mitchell is about as close to a Godess as they get ( IMO ) Having had 4 of her albums for 30 years , in one format or another , Court & Spark, Hissing, Hejira, Miles Of Aisles, i thinks she's a one off, and out there. The track Rainy Night House on the live album is even better ( IMO ) than the studio track And those lyrics.. evocative and how they conjur up a story It was a rainy night We took a taxi to your mother's home She went to Florida and left you With your father's gun alone Upon her small white bed I fell into a dream You sat up all the night and watched me To see who in the world I might be
10. Yup, i guess that has to be a consideration. And UPS have told me here it will be here Friday. Woot Hope they sent a European one
11. I disagree . .I think he would be amongst friends here. Even those that don't get him admit he had talent far beyond most of us and that makes for fascination
12. If only your pics would show - i might just go for it, whatever it is
13. Pic is missing Andy - but a moot point i guess
14. That was a one off I'll soon change that
15. Thanks blue - sometimes publications come out the following month .... eg December issue comes out in January. Or vice versa
16. Nothing like another JP thread to get the playground rumble going He wasn't a god, but he was a damn good bass player. Yes sometimes he could seem to be aimlessly noodling - some folk need to get over that He doesnt float my canoe apart from the work on Hejira, which was stunning. Personal taste again, just like everything in life. The standout player of the fretless for me was Percy Jones, and he goes way back to Soft Machine And no, not everyone likes Jones either. But no need to regress and throw a rattle
17. Just got an email from John East - BGM is going to make a visit to John's workshop in this months issue ( or is it next month's ? ) BGM will be finding out what just what a genius and genuine good guy he is. Makes good tea & toast too Seems Shuker is going to be a feature as well
18. I'm thinking of ordering these baddies for our wedding / church band
19. 3 pedals, 4 sounds, for 4 different tracks. The rest of the set is straight through, and i dont mess with pedal settings. They're set and thats it. The only trimming is backing off the volume at the beginning of the track for the Env Filter as there's a smidgeon of vol boost with that
20. GONE !
21. GONE !
22. There are two versions, the original with a slight low and high end pre-shaper built in, and a flat response unit, where the controls are set in their most neutral setting, there will be no coloration, or difference in response, when switching between active and passive. The pre-shape unit gives a slight lift and fatness when switched in, whereas the flat response type retains the original sound, except that the pickups are buffered by the preamplifier.
23.
Agree - I`ve never learned that line, but it`s what I zone into when I hear the song. Just awesome. It`s easy to knock PM as he`s a virtually a national treasure, but really, wrote all those songs, came up with all those great basslines, did all those great vocals/harmonies. Whether or not you like his stuff, think it`s only the daft that don`t understand what he`s done.
I loved the bass line so much i did learn it, but only for my own amusement. Our band only does one PM song, and its Wings BOTR. The bass line in that is pretty damn good too
