Nope, not Ian Paisley's famous blurts, but a proper Rally Basso 504 FM.
Why they called a 4 string the 504 and not a 404 is a mystery, but what the hey.
Probably the last brand new Rally in the UK, as the designers of the Rally range of bass /guitars / banjos etc., Dae Won Instruments of Korea, went bust a while ago. I havent seen another Rally Basso, any model not just mine, for sale anywhere. We're now talkings hens' lips rarity. There's probably a few ( or less ) used ones in private hands. I know this because i sold my last Rally ( exactly the same model as this ) 6 years ago. Oh why oh why do we get rid of them then have regrets ?? It's such a great bass, i decided to hunt down another. I found just 1. No second hand jobs for sale, just this new old stock bass on its own
This was in a shop for , so the owner told me, 2.5/3 years. Perhaps he shouldnt have told me, because i smelt a deal. Surely they want shot of it after all this time. To cut the haggling story short, i got around £65 off the advertised price.
It has a 2 piece mahogany body with a ( no thin veneers here, low lifers ) 15mm thick flame maple cap, hence the model name FM i presume.
Maple neck with rosewood stringers and rosewood FB. So nicely put together. No sharp ends anywhere. Shallow neck , which is my thang
Leccies are 9v - 1 Vol, 2 Tone, 1 Blend. Their own humbuckers too. I can only describe the tone as pokey with sparkle, but can be EQ'd for that low mid shove that i like.
Balances on the strap a treat, and weighs in at 8.8 Lbs which is ok for me
The horrid camera flash doesnt do it justice
