    I just traded my BTB 5 custom shop cause I'm going back on 4 strings... but if there was exactly the same in 4, I just swap for it... doesn't matter the name for me, Just play and enjoy ! (And I have few high end basses at home, and the ibanez wasn't ridiculous ....)

    Yes, we could see we enter in the psychologic and emotional aspects ... If you find something beautiful, doesn't matter the price and if you can afford it, you will buy it... we could generalise that to any instruments, and to all things ...

    For people asking why I want to trade the JP and the BTB, it's very simple ... I don't need a 5 stringer at all (except for a graphite necked one where I can accept again it ) And as JP has left the Job now and I will not have anymore the chance to have a BTB custom 4, I think it's more suitable to trade than to try to replace them by the same new ones with only 4 strings.

    I would say no... I owned one in the past ... And I sold it ... They surf on the name and on endorsees, that's all... There are a lot of basses at the same level of quality for less price... And I found in little boutique company or luthier what I wanted to have without the need of a "name" on the bass... And I would say that my JP bass is at the same level without problems...

    Hi status fans ... I would like to know something about the S2 : is there a big difference in terms of sound between the Bolt-on and the neck-thru ? And is the tone block will have more tonal importance on the bolt-on than the neck-thru ? (pickups are more in the the tone block than the neck-thru one which is mainly graphite around the pickups...) So what do you think about that ?

    Pics added in first post for infos : 19 mm string spacing 34" scale on the JP . The Zia is coming in an "Aluminium" hardshell case ... travel will be secured like that ... (and the HC with newspapers around then in a big cardboard box... no risk like that !)

    I just think that if someone wants that bass, he will not give a lot of money without knowing the value of this bass... So I think the buyer will have a lot of informations about it and will know in every aspect what he will do... So up to the buyer (and the seller) to find the good deal... not me and not a lot of people speaking out of interest about that bass ... In my opinion....

I can mention the price new for this one : JP Zia 5 : 3300 £ specifications : - Rare Highly Figured Walnut top on a spanish cedar body (with maple laminate insert in between) - Hipshot bridge - Custom JP bass pickups (made by Aaron Armstrong (Kent Armstrong's son) - John East BTB preamp (active / passive by push pull on volume ; 4 position knob fo neck / series / parallel / bridge ; bass ; mid ; treble with bright swith by pulling it) - Ebony knobs with "plain real silver" dots - Macassar Ebony fretboard - One piece wenge neck with specific 2 way truss road and "plain real silver" dots inlay on the side of the neck - Hipshot ultralite tuners - Secure neutrick jack lock That could give you an idea...
