What does it matter what other people think? If you enjoy something then you should get on with enjoying it and there are many other people who enjoy U2. Personally I think they are poop and to compare him to Cliff Williams just because they both play 8th notes is miles off the mark, AC couldn't rock out with the mighty Deece in a million years! (Imo of course ;-) )

I like to embrace some of these nuances that the elec bass does not have, some of the greats get a finger click when playing the E string as their fingers come off the edge of the board, Ray Brown makes some horrific clanks and clicks, rattles etc, sounds fabulous!!!

I know they are not for an eub, my point was that you said you tried some strings on an eub and they were light, I have the same strings, same tension, same scale length on an eub and a db and the eub feels much much lighter and easier to play so the eub you tried doesn't help much imo.

We are going around in circles now. I wonder how the ticket sails went?

[/quote] I have the exact same strings on my EUB as my DB and for some reason the EUB is much lighter to play, feels like an electric bass compared to my DB so I agree 100%

If its going to be through a pa you could use a Roland kick and brain but with a full kit around it? I know a busy dep drummer near me that does it and it saves a lot of room in your typical Irish bar sort of gig.
