+1 for Mesa Subway D800 into a Barefaced Super Compact 3 gen. Huge sound with marvellous range of tones.

+1 Mesa Subway D800 into one or two Super Compacts produces a huge sound with a variety of tones that should satisfy most bassists playing a wide range of rock, blues, pop, funk or jazz. Absolutely a lovely combination!!!

Hi Andy, For PUPs think about DiMazio Split P and a KiOgon loom with old stock Spragg cap. Really great range of tones with warm, lush lows. The DiMarzio Jazz PUP is really well matched as it is a split coil and removes some of the output loss associated with single coil Jazz PUPs in P/J configurations . Great project the bass looks handsome, Well Done!

Hi Dood, What about the Behringer XR12? Great flexibility and all controlled from your IPad or Android tablet. If you want to go the extra mile then the Midas MR12 adds better preamps and full 12 channel USB out to your DAW software. Just saying!

+1 for the Mesa Subway D800. Lots of clean power and a huge variety of tones on tap with the character/ voice control. Also runs at 2 Ohms and has a very flexible DI output for FOH.

+1 for the Thumpinator. Essential bit of kit if your amp has no built-in HPF. My Mesa Subway D800 has it built-in but my Fender Rumble 500 head does not and it's worth every penny to clean up and control the bottom end and improve the efficiency of your speaker cab.

As said already it's a players bass the mods mean you can enjoy playing a vintage bass without worrying that you are not going to ding it and lose any value. You're not going loose any money at all on the purchase but it's not going to appreciate like an all stock bass. I've got the exact same bass that's all totally stock with the crackling volume and tone knobs and the obligatory crack in the pickguard between the end of the neck and the pickup. It's got a huge sound, looks handsome but has a thick neck. Go for it! You'll love it!

Last Saturday played a wedding and had to use the feature band's backline of Aguilar TH500 into Barefaced G3 Super Compact. Really disappointed with tone and output with the rig while using my Fender P with DiMarzio Split P Pup.Volume was really poor overload light flashing even with Gain and Drive at zero (7 o clock) a really distorted sound when pushing the amp for more output to compete with drummer and 3 guitarists . If I knew what to expect I would have used my Mesa Subway D800 or my Fender Rumble 500 into my trusty Barefaced G3 Super Compact, both amps blow the TH 500 totally away. Always able to get my preferred tone with either the Mesa or the Rumble. The feature band's bassist was also the sound guy who appeared to use the TH 500 as on stage monitor with a great deal of DI PA support. Stand alone the Aguilar just didn't have what it takes and appeared to be a 'bit of a wimp ' Anyone else suffered a similar experience?

I have a TC Helicon Voicelive play. Very simple to use with over 500 downloadable patches. Helps with realtime pitch correction and simple on/off control. Very slick piece of kit.

+1 for the TC Spectracomp, simple one 'Knoob' control. BUT I would add a Micro Thumpinator. Following advice from Phil Starr the Thumpinator really cleaned up my Fender Rumble 500 boomy bottom end and the Spectracomp provides extra control of the overall sound.
