1.
Nah, I just thnk what Berlin has said revolves around certain genres.
Quite possible. Garry
 2.
Funny, this is EXACTLY what Jeff Berlin is talking about! I'm not disrespecting Dave Harvey, but all the cliches are there within 30 seconds.
Along with just about any other Fretless player that uses loops, delay, chorus, harmonics, double stops. Well in that case Mr Berlin may just have a point - AGAIN. Garry
 3. Marcus Miller seems to get overlooked on the Fretless front - but well worth a listen. Jimmy Haslip is another good Fretless player. Also an English guy called Dave Harvey who has fantastic six string Fretless chops. [but he is also great at da groove ting] I have not seen Dave for about 15 years, but it seems he is still lurking about. Plenty of other stuff with Dave knocking around on Youtube. [Might be under David Harvey] Garry
 4.
^This.
Don't you mean 'Init' ? Garry
 5. Nice & Relaxed Mr Major.....Great stuff. Enjoyed the recent Upright posting on Facebook by the way. Garry
 6.
Fixed!
What with two Bee Gee's....?
 7.
And yours can record 18 tracks at once? I'm always struggling with lag when putting together a midi file in cubase. I must clear the whole thing out one day.
That will be your Audio card, or lack of a decent one. A must when Recording. Garry
 8.
On it's own the line you quoted says the opposite of what I meant, with the previous lines it sort of makes sense (if you put your head on one side and squint at it long enough)
Garry
 9.
Are you guys unhappy that I think thats all there is to slap or are you saying that's all there should be to slap?
Hey Rich - was just trying to work out what you was saying... Twas a mystery, thats all.... Garry
 10.

What was that? Hall of fame for that, just simply the best. Garry
 11.
Oh I forgot, we need someone to post this: Yawn another slap thread yawn lol typical ur jealous lol.
They are all at lunch - or watching Youtube at the moment. Garry
 12.
It should be more a technique for attacking the strings and not for note choices IMO.
Garry
 13.
Some of the Bela Fleck stuff maybe, quite varied though.
I have plenty of Bela Fleck CD's, and love his playing, Even with VW not Slapping. I get the feeling he know's what he is doing. Bela Fleck Garry
 14.
Probably the best sounding programmed drums I've used. http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/pro...d-modern-drums/
+1 Along with the Steven Slate Drums for Kontakt. Steven Slate Drums On another note, if you don't have the Kontakt sampler you can download the free Kontakt player from the NI site, [comes with about 50 various instruments] and there is plenty of lIbraries for the Kontakt player. Free player here. Kontakt Player I suppose at the end of the day all the above mentioned stuff in the thread will do a great job, just go to all the links and choose what sounds good for your ears, and a work flow that suits you all within your budget. Garry
 15.
There is a great track on Haslip's Arc cd called 'Niños'. Tried transcribing it but can't find the chords at all
Good track that, I also like Hannah's House, and the track with Joshua Redman - Orange Guitars. Garry
 16.
http://www.propellerheads.se/mmm/index.cfm...tinfo&EID=1
I see you are pushing Reason a lot today... It does look interesting, but they really need to sort out the 64 bit Rewire thing, or lack of it. Garry
 17.
I think I might cope with the Windows, as I doubt I'm cool enough for a Mac. Thanks for all the recommendations!!! Assuming you chaps with the recommendations are regular users - any tips for building reasonable drum tracks?
I presume you will be Midi programming drums & percussion, so you will need to humanize the parts, IE - not everything on the grid or you will end up with the machine gun effect. The other thing is velocity levels [on various hits] it will give you various accents like a human would play. Layering up various drums, like two or three various kick sounds etc. Adding various elements every two or four bars etc variation & dynamics on verse/chorus etc. Youtube will be your best friend, loads of videos on tips & tricks. And don't over use the word various like i have. Garry
 18.
It's cool, I liked it when i first heard them but sounds a bit dated to me now. Now trying to think of similar stuff! Look up Oz Noy, Galactic, Lettuce. Bit more modern and upfront. Plenty of LArry Carlton stuff out there if you like that kind of stuff. Actually found out about them via some promo cd which had a really great Jimmy Haslip track on it!
I kinda of agree - but then again the others you have mentioned still sounds dated to me, all been heard before, i suppose thats the problem facing folks today. One major thing i have/did always like about the Yellow Jackets was the Chordal structures approach rather than riff based frenzies knocking around at that time. Garry
 19.
I listened to it through the speakers on my computer and bass line is barely audible, yet it didn't diminish my appreciation of a very well written and performed song. Probably the only people who will consciously listen to the bass part are bass players. Most other listeners are drawn to other parts.
Funny you should say that. I am a massive Marcus fan, Huge Luther fan. But the thing that always sticks out on that track to me, is the great Funky Guitar lines. Great track all round. Garry
 20. Another plug for RME here. I use the Hammerfall DSP 9632 with an expansion board. Apart from the great performance at very low latency, a big bump for the Midi drivers. Tight and very very stable. Well worth the extra dosh. All the 64 bit drivers have been updated of late as well. Garry
 21. I spent about an hour with JH chatting in a Jazz club in Berlin in 2007, he is such a cool fellow. Been a Yellow Jackets fan since that very first album. Great stuff. Garry
 22.
Hey did you see Joey Jordison on bass! Hers actually pretty awesome!
Any chance you can let us know where 'One' is mate ? You seem to have lost most of the Ensemble. Garry
 23.
Aww, thanks. Glad to have you back by the way. I really missed you.
Good grief, a Basschat wedding on the way. You won't be short of a band or two then. Garry
 24.
I reckon you'd need to drink an astonishing amount to want to **** a bear!
I am sure it has been done Rich, or at least attempted.... So maybe i was right first time. Garry
 25.

Fantastic, i have justed noticed what i said.... very good. Although my conjured up image of what he looked like in Beer goggles behind the bus shelter, was more obscene and not cuddly bear like at all. Garry
