2. Great Band - love that opening few frames on 'The beat goes on' Garry
 3.
The music, good, great bass lines. However, we must consider the 'fashion' of the time. It has been my long held opinion that the clothes one had to wear in the 70's and early 80's has scared a generation
I was there - i have the wardrobe scars [and a Jazz Bass] to prove it. Garry

 6.
Had a promoter go mental at us one for being too loud but we were just glad to get out of there alive.
Just had a vision of Blues Brothers & Chicken wire. Garry
 7.
Thats probably why he Gaffa tapes his thumb.
Wrong Guy.... Garry
 8.
Marcus is a legend. The live bass sound is absolutely huge.
Agreed - i have seen him a few times, and it has always been that. One time in Germany, i was a few feet away from the stage, and was amazed how hard and controlled he was when attacking the strings with his thumb - certainly not afraid to give it some. Garry
 9.
on the subject of slap. Does anybody else find it really difficult to cut through the mix when slapping. Particually when there is 2 guitars playing
Marcus Miller, world grand meister funk champion of thumb & popping ,and generally attacking the note not tickling it, is the dude to talk to, never a problem for him...ever... Garry
 10. Hey Funkypenguin, thanks for this. Nice transcription. One of my fives is tuned E-C and this works great. Garry
 11.
I've got Fl Studio as well and I find it pretty bad for recording audio. I recommend using something different for audio, maybe Reaper?
Yep, the early versions were not that great for Recording Audio. However, FL Studio 10 is a different animal and records Audio great. The MIDI side of it is excellent. Garry
 12. To be honest your PC should be ok with FL studio. Its more than likely to do with that Realtek Audio card. If you don't want to shell out on an Audio card, try Asio4all, its a free Asio driver that can help with budget consumer Audio cards. See if that helps. Dead easy to set up, download & help here. 13.
Me, i love a nice chop from a bassist (read any muso) if it is context.
I will add my name to BottemE's Downing St petition. Context Hit me with your Rhythm stick. If you want to keep that simple, by all means do. But you will sound a twonk.
 14. There's been a few posts of late with this guy, he sure is tight and groovy. The triplets are as tight as the original Bass Synth line. Garry
 15. Sounds like a Latency issue, or if you have input echo in FL, is it engaged. What Audio/sound card are you using ? What drivers with the card Asio/Wdm/Mme ? A bit more info on PC specs and Audio card, and someone might be able to help. Garry
 16. For me open strings are good for raking, ghosting and dead muted notes, Also high double stops, with say an open E or A at the bottom. Garry
 17.
I'd be interested to know how long the guy who treated David Bowie like the milkman lasted on the tour.
This..... Garry
 18. Sounds good. There is a lot of tracks up there - good luck with that. Garry
 19. A new Years Eve in Dubai - 1 hour spot. Garry
 20.
Tentatively our plans are to start in south (Brighton)
I would be very tentative in Brighton. It's twinned with San Francisco. Garry
 21.
To me, this is what bass playing is all about. groove, melody, chord progression and expression. None of this 1000 x slap notes that just sound like a bag of bolts being shaken in a metal tube. Just my personel opinion of course.
Well, it's what makes the likes of NE a producers dream and very employable [still after all these years] To the many Youtube hopefulls, it's just a dream, Garry
 22. Nathan East is one of my favourites. Great set of lugs on him. Many moons ago i saw him dep on a Lee Ritenour gig at the Baked Potato. Handled everything thrown [dots/busking wise] at him with little effort, Perfect for Studio work Garry
 23.
Have a look at http://www.riverstudios.co.uk/ We're in Southampton and we know what we're doing.... Chris
Hey Chris, seems like you have a useful all round establishment going on there. Looks like a great set up. Well worth people having a look. Garry
 24. Yep, i wonder if he can hold down 4 to the floor for 5 minutes, Stuff Pub Drummers think they can do Garry
