2. Bought a markbass head off Will. All arived in good order very well packed and boxed up safe as houses.
3. Selling my trace setup as I've down sized slightly. All in working order with some cosmetic wear and tear nothing serious though. The graphic and preshape buttons no longer work on the front but homemade switch(made by previous owner) Which works fine via the foot switch input. Cab Collection only due to the weight. £150 Head £100 cab St. Andrews if you want a look. Cheers.
4. What a bargain! sold one very similar to this last year and regret it almost everyday. glwys
5.
Changes with the weather but here's the five I'm thinking of at the moment: Chuck Rainey (Motown legend) Ryan Martinie (Mudvayne) Chi Cheng (Deftones) Josh Thompson (Waking Aida) Roger Waters (Pink Floyd/solo)
Same martinie at the top though.
6. Wow thats nice I have the five string version but it's nowhere near as well kept as that. Glwys
7. Just bought a trace head off Geoff. Friendly and sorted with swift delivery. Would deal with again happily. Toots
8. Played with one for a while in store a few weeks ago. Really impressed. Keep thinking about how to fund one without the wife knowing. Such a handy size (crazy small) and really punchy.
9. had a great day today playing disco thanks to this thread. My neighbours must think ive gone nuts. Never played anything disco before in my life.
10. Recently bought a 90s 4x10 cab totally disregarded the warnings about the weight. Wow I'll be amazed if I ever find the need to bring it back down stairs. I hate myself for taking it up there in the first place. 47 kilos and grips the carpet like Velcro so slidings not an option. must be heavy that groovilium,
11.
I see what you're saying, but as good as those guys are they didn't inspire me to play. I wasn't around in the 60s / 70s, and yet I still picked up a bass. When I first got into music it was popular rock music at the time (mostly Green Day and Oasis for me) that made me way to play an instrument, and Mike Dirnt of Green Day was the main influence on me drifting toward bass. I got really into 90's and 00's skate punk, and so count Mark Hoppus, Dan Andriano and Fat Mike among those who influenced my playing, as well as others like the Foo Fighters' Nate Mendel or Chris Wotsitguy from Muse. Now my influences are much broader. There are countless more 'modern' bassists to keep new players interested. It's just that our focus always goes back to those we grew up listening to.
Wholeheartedly agree I grew up listening to blink and green day and trio and they where the bass lines I raced to learn. Very different to what I play now and although they are probably less valued as inspirational bass players, I would be daft to say I wasn't influenced by them. I'll certainly never forget Dan andrianos lines that I learnt 10-12 years ago.
12. I had the same drama a few months ago and spent months pondering over fivers go out to shops and play a few. I found some to be way too wide at the nut and string spacing was to close (Ibanez) found Spector felt comfy. Still finding excuses to use the B but I'm glad I shopped about first cos I love it now. I'd still feel more at home with four but love the playability of my five. Don't go off recommendations. I was dead set on a Warwick till I played one and it totally didn't feel right. Upto you though. Hope this helps.
13. Got a gigbag that fits my Spector 5 which my old one didn't so that's nice. Super padded as well.
14. Played one in rosyth at kennys music. Only had it down for a minute out of intrigue the cracked leather looking plastic finish feels and looks really cheap. Never plugged it in but it felt pretty crappy in my hands. Haven't seen one before or since but for this post.
15. There was two guitars and a bass in school. People used to fight over the guitars Bass would just sit in the corner so I used to go to it rather than waiting round for a shot on the guitar. Once I got the hang of it I never looked back.
16. The harmonica intro to school by supertramp is a really spine tingly start, proper builds the song up. Love it
