  1. Since I have been self teaching mixing music I watch you tube videos about the subject. One well known producer and you tuber suggested istening to Woman in Chains by Tears for Fears as a reference song for depth, spacing etc.
  2. I don't gig so I only take the air bass out.
  3. Why man and not a woman? Or person PC.
  4. Which wireless system for air guitar?
  5. There's an advantage of an air bass. It ways nothing, so no more ' how much does it weigh? '
  6. SH73

    Why?

I've heard the Live After Death album.
  7. @Dad3353 Are you planing to start a sticky thread on mixing and mastering? BTW very subtle composition this month 👍
  8. Nice bass
  9. Thanks for posting the pic. Mine are much lower and the output is pretty good. Don't mind me asking what pups are they.
  10. As above mentioned, plus the best ever result I had was to record DI and mic. I added a tiny bit of everdrive to DI channel. Then I mixed both into one. There are endless possibilities, remember the bass sound you hear on it's own may not sound the same in the mix. I'd record a dry mix as you can post process the bass line to suit your needs. I found that adjusting the bass amp to get your desired sound from the speaker is more satisfying than going DI. It's also more time consuming but once I get the desired sound from the speaker it takes a little eq and compression to get it sit right in the mix.
  11. Have you considered recording you bass sound with a mic? I used sm57 to record my bass combo amp. With a little tweek I managed to get the desired sound.
  12. Which type of Elixir for d tunning
  13. On behalf of a friend of mine... He is looking to replace strings on a bass. They play 90s style heavy metal d tuning so the singer can keep up etc. He's looking for strings that cut through the mix, two guitars and drum. They rehearse 3 times a week and only play for internet audience. He says his hands sweat a lot when he plays bass, so wants suitable strings. I suggested Elixir? Any other suggestions?
  14. I have once lent a Peavey BW 300 bass combo to a band I used to be in. Since then it was never the same. It sounds distorted.
  15. Cannibal Corpse-Hammer smashed face.
  16. I have never practiced technique just learnt and played by ear.
  17. Does it comply with Ryanair s hand luggage rules?
  18. I've seen this set up at Camden shop this week, and it does look tasty, but the big question is... ..I have to borrow the quote from the fellow Basschater.. Is it good for metal?
  19. Contacted a band that is looking for a bass player on JMB. It turns out that there's no band, the guy is on his own😂
  20. With slight changes in my life I think I'm ready to gig. I've looked up some JMB adverts that are straight to the point. When I started up playing as a teen we always had issues with a drummer, it got the point that when I left ( choose another career not that I ever got paid) guitarist gigged with drum machine. Anyhoo, back to the point. Any advice from fellow BCs ? My current gear is only a 100 w practice amp and a few basses 😚 a pedal or two, so when the time arrives I'm happy to get some thing with plenty of umpf.
  21. The one and only Steve Harris. I've listened to Maiden since 1982, and got hooked instantly. When Live After Death was released I listened to it twice a day. The sound of the bass on that album was mesmerising. I'm still a fan, nearly 40 years later. Not only I own his sparkly blue signature bass but managed to meet him few years back. Rotosound flats are not just for jazz.
  22. I suppose I get the room dimensions windows, door layout to work out what's best. I still read that Yamaha monitors are bung for the buck.
  23. To me , it's getting all technical with low-cut etc. I will be getting a room dedicated to music in near future and have no intention to put some hideous room treatment foam etc on walls, therefore I'm after a good set of monitors. From internet research, Yamaha HS7 seem to be best suited for this purpose. I have been looking for budget monitors in meantime to assist mixing and mastering without constantly relying on headphones.
  24. Yes and junk mail as well. By the time they eventually sent me the link my parcel was dispatched.
