    How did you get on? What Quo song did you do? Is jurrasic mark still a bit of a t!t? Apologies for that last question. I hope you did well, played in a battle of the bands in Bournemouth and it was our 2nd gig, we won that round but lost in the final.

    Dune Tune here too! Got me hooked on bass and from that I got into Stanley Clarke. Despite the 80s production I love SC's version of Goodbye Pork Pie Hat (Mingus is better but didn't hear that until much later!) Used to play Lovin Arms by Woods Brothers on the EUB, Chris Woods plays the upright beautifully on that (not sure I did it justice).

    I've been thinking that myself, just starting up a rock covers band and my katana has a lot of bite (the 2nd pup is next to the bridge). Comfort wise, I like to sit down and noodle away on my basses but its kinda tricky with all the pointy edges. A lot easier and lighter standing though, I agree. I bought mine 2nd hand from a shop in Ringwood (Oasis I think!) And it was marked up for £100. I haggled with the guy for a while and got him down to £80 but I think he was pulling my leg a bit cos he said "give us £75" after all that!

    I think you're right but it looks like a tidy job, just noticed slightly different screws on one of the p-bass pups and 3 top hat knobs (2 x volume, other one tone) instead of fender knobs. Lovely short scale slim neck on mine, nice to play if it wasn't for the awkward body shape!

    Did they ever make a katana with two p-bass pups or has mine been modified? Bought mine 2nd hand around 1992. Any tips on buying a gig bag for it would be much appreciated.

    Thank you lowlandtrees, a brilliant idea for unblocking the shower waste pipe. I will now be sorely tempted to take my g string off the EUB for the cucumber plant in the conservatory! Can we change the thread name to '101 alternative uses for bass strings'?

    Thanks, it is a bargain and I'm loathed to sell it but I'm getting to old for monster rigs. The cabs are 8 ohms

    Have you tried Elixir strings before? No What other brands are you familiar with? Rotosound and Elites. What basses will you try the new strings on? Fender Jazz and Peavey Milestone 1 What sort of environment will you be playing them in? Rehearsal, home practice and home recording Why do you think you'll be a good candidate to test the strings? 95% of my strings for 25 years have been Rotosound so it will be good to compare a totally different string. Have done a few product tests before.

    My guitar buddy's wife plays French horn in a brass band in town, they were lucky enough to tour Holland a few years ago! Not sure if they went to Amsterdam though

    Had a change of heart, now keeping the W211 cab and selling the rest. Contains the following:- Warwick Quad VI 600 watt Korg DTR-2000 rackmount tuner Both in a Freestyle flight case Warwick W115 Pro 400 watt cab This is a lovely sounding stack and versatile with the quadrumatrix sound shaping thingy on the preamp. If you google 'Warwick Quad VI' you should get details from a previous Basschatter who sold the same type of amp 18 months ago (I'm lazy and not good with computers!). The stack was purchased in the early noughties by my nephew, I bought it from him around '08/'09 and have rarely used it (used it for gigs and recording but mostly with just the W211 cab) and because it is so loud and heavy it is surplus to requirements :-(. Minus points to warn you about. The Korg tuner has a decal (I think you'd call it that) that comes loose (I just push it back on). The wheels for the W115 cab were long gone before I purchased it. The tweeter on the W211 cab didn't work but now does?!? I tightened the loose grub screws on the amp knobs when I bought it, they seem prone to coming loose but they are all there. It has nearly 15 yrs of wear and tear but still a bargain at [s]£500[/s] as she still looks and sounds sweet. All cables will be included. Now just selling the amp with its case and tuner for [b]£200[/b] and the W115 cab for [b]£150[/b] or both together for [b]£300[/b]. Collection only and I live near the lovely city of Salisbury (buy the amp and come see Stonehenge, Spinal Tap never did it justice!)     Hi Basschat folk, I'm Al and I've been playing bass (on and off) since 1987 and still no good at it! Just starting a new covers band project and do a little writing and recording as a hobby. I also play bass for Southampton band Fly Monkeys, Fly! although we're on sabbatical and have played only 2 gigs since 2010! Most recently played both EUB and regular bass with the Midnight Booty Band playing blues, country, Woods Bros, Tom Waits and Felice Bros tunes. Great fun playing the leccie upright but left after 4 years to try something else. For the gearheads I have a weird selection of cheap basses, a Fender Jazz MIM ('02) with quarter pound pups, a Peavey Milestone 1 with upgraded hardware and Hot pups from Basslines (my main gigging bass as it has a lovely neck, looks like a jazz bass and was dead cheap from ebay), a Marlin Slammer with Trev Wilkinson pups (my first bass and I love it for that very reason), a Squier Katana!!! and a Stagg EUB (in black of course). Last year I bought a TC Electronic BH250 which is great but has had a couple of problems. I just love the toneprint thang though. I also have a Warwick Quad VI with W211 Pro and W115 Pro cabs which I'm hoping to sell soon as I'll never need that much gear on stage, it is huge and heavy but sounds really sweet, lots of low end (which you need unless you're Mark King!). I'm hoping there will be plenty of advice here on what cabs to buy, I really like the TC stuff but you guys know your gear so will look forward to some sage advice. Cheers, Al
