  1. So you made it the 90's way and started a huge fight in the restaurant ?
  2. Seen it a lot of times since its release, but it's always a delight. 😊
  3. While we are at it, here is an easy way to know which hand is which: On the right hand, the thumb is on the left.
  4. Looks like you never played an aluminium neck Kramer in plain sun or at an outside gig during a frozen winter ... as Kramer or Travis Bean invented the Auto-Detune.
  5. Following with great interest. 😊
  6. Excellent choice, congratulations!
  7. It started a bit like @Skinnyman with my first ever fiver, a brand new Hohner The Jack V. I proudly came to the rehearsal with that one and only bass and started to tune it EADGD instead of BEADG with the factory fitted strings, even if I found the strings very hard on the fingers, I kept going on until the G string broke in a loud snap very slightly injuring my left hand that was on the neck. No more rehearsal that evening, but beer drinking instead... I had to wait for a month to receive a brand new set from the local store, hey it was 1989 so the store was not stocking fiver bass string sets at all, and certainly not double ball type.
  8. Agreed, but if you don't ask him, you'll never know, and I truly think he would give you all the advices needed to start on good basis. One hour with Axl will be better than a year on the YouTube... You have absolutely nothing to lose, on the contrary.
  9. Thanks @TimR, I've been almost lynched for what I dared to write there, so I understood that those in the mentioned thread are the defenders of "I make as much noise as I want, because I was there first and it's my property...".
  10. @lvrossem, if you're near Antwerp, contact Axl Peleman, he is an excellent professional bassist, alongside a super cool guy, and he could certainly help you a lot with these beginner's issues. https://m.facebook.com/100077285695087/ Say hello from Tony in Etalle, where he came home to buy my Takamine TB10 and we had a very long talk around a cuppa.

    Fretless pedal

This is THE pedal for fretless, simply called The Fretless, by FKT Audio, an Italian company: https://www.fktaudio.com/articolo/the-fretless/
  12. Nowadays legally speaking as there's a calibrated decibel meter in each and every venue in Luxembourg, yes, and they have become very strict about that. But I don't see the point of your remark, as it's simply another anecdote about way too loud gigs.
  13. Exactly the same, but in the first try, you'll have tightened the truss rod and in the second you'll have untightened it, or the opposite if it's a left thread. In my first message to the OP, I wrote "unscrewing" instead of anything else to release the tension on the truss rod, as, to me, for a beginner, it was the most obvious explanation. But I know some people don't know in which direction to go to screw or unscrew, then they should let a professional do the job...
  14. As it's not obvious on the video, where are you fretting your notes? There seems to be the "issue".
  15. If it's a double action truss rod.
  16. I love the tone Barend is getting on the bridge or neck pickup reminiscent of Thoṅk. Congratulations to the both of you.
  17. Simply send @RonC a private message.
  18. The 30th of October 2016, with a friend of mine, we went to see Dinosaur Jr at The Atelier, a quite small venue, in Luxembourg. I stayed at my usual place with my pal, just before the mixing desk, and after the first track I turned to the venue sound engineer (who is always good) and told him to lower Jay Mascis a lot in the FoH as he was way too loud. His response was unequivocal: "I muted him from the beginning, this asshôle is completely deaf and put his 4 amps on full blast, so he's louder than the FoH!" We went to the bar, were the sound was half audible... Awful gig for sure.
  19. Excellent job, congratulations!
  20. The output barrel jack may be loose (inside), as it's a typical problem with these. Or it could be what @paul_5 said, so check after a few minutes of playing if it does that static noise again, if not, @paul_5 was correct, if it sill does, get a new barrel jack. Buy these as even the expensive Switchcraft don't last (I've tried so many until I found these that last very long): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Alnicov-Stereo-Copper-Guitar-Cylinder/dp/B08L69K6QH/
