Sounds like he needs a good bass tech as everything is sounding exactly like a too straight neck and a too low action especially as he has not a soft touch at all, so it ends up like this: an awful rattling mess.

I've joined the club today, yesterday in fact, but tried it only this morning. Took no time to get an excellent sound for my fretless basses starting with the emulation of an Acoustic 370 tweaked to my liking adding a slight touch of reverb with their Room Reverb and closing the patch with their Noise Reduction. I tried this patch through my calibrated IK Multimedia monitors and a HeadRush FRFR 112 MkII active speaker: I'm really amazed by this quite cheap pedal and the many excellent tones it delivers. I tried every effect available and they all sound quite decently out of the box which is another great bonus, and rare enough to be mentioned. I'll compare this Zoom to my my HeadRush Core, but I'm quite confident about the answer. The funny thing is that I bought the Zoom MS-60B+ to simply have a correct tone when playing through my soundcard, but found myself instantly in love with this amazing pedal, because it sounded so good.

Just put a new clip connector and maybe some Deoxit in the pots: Your bass will be ready for the next 15 years. 😉

Nope, but it's an old trick used to counter balance headstock diving as used by Bernard Paganotti (Magma's bass player) in the 70's and other bass players too.

Very nice, with a touch of class.

Same for me, a bass bought from this very parish, before Shitbreaks, that came totally unprotected in a too big hardcase without anything inside preventing it to move and, which is the most "delicious" part, with the shipping label sticked on the case itself that wasn't even locked by any means. Thankfully, when the driver presented it to me, he agreed with me that this wasn't secured at all, so he opened it before me and the ACG bass inside was there and intact. I was a bit upset, but the bass was fine. That said, I still love this place. 😉

You know, me, and modern dances...

Buy them at Mouser @steantval, they are the original ones and the price is way lower. I even put the two official wiring diagrams in the link above.

Epiphanies less Paul, but there's no Paul in Epiphanies, so how could he become less.

Wow, Janek Gwizdala is simply an amazing guy! Congratulations to him and his friend Ian Allison to organise this on the go so fast and on the same day!

That's good for Reverb as I really don't know how they really make money with all these overpriced items... I've sold a very few items there and bought even less, as you have to be posh to buy as everything is overpriced all the time. That said, I once lodge a complaint for a set of pickups I had bought that weren't new as mentioned and after a few photos and text exchanges with Reverb's service, I got the partial refund I had asked. But I had no audio files to send that said @Beedster. To me, eBay complaint management is way worse as they only protect the seller and have always done so.

Sterling Stingray intermittently conks out
Hellzero replied to Little Helios's topic in Repairs and Technical
The "It's certainly not a big deal and an easy fix" is a sentence I can't here anymore as I've heard it too many times when I had my own workshop (as well as my father when he was an independent mechanic, so nothing new here). At the end, my answer was always the same: "Go on, help yourself, the tools are there." And guess what the embarrassed answer always was... If it's under warranty and you know nothing about electronics, but have done all you could do, which is putting a new battery and it's still not working, do what's been proposed to you by the store: Send it back and get it fixed. This is what warranty is for. 😉 -
I've been tempted many times to buy the AliExpress Lemmy signature bass. I'll certainly do it one day as I've always found it esthetically appealing and I had a lot of good surprises with these far East instruments. Of course, even if I'm a fretless player mainly into jazz, Lemmy was my first bass inspiration and I've seen Motörhead so many times: It's always been a delight as his presence was so huge and different.

Another trick with fretless is to use opened (sorry, but it's a past participle) strings to check your intonation while playing. Use your ears to play, not your eyes and you'll improve very quickly. I really started playing on a fretless bass something like 40 years ago (wow, I'm that old 😳 now) and I now suck on fretted bass as I tend to make it sound like a fretless... 🤦🏻 You can also add a tiny bit of reverb on your tone, it's great with fretless. Welcome to the family!

It's Lemmy's Rickenbacker signature model.
