  1. Paul Belgrado even had one of his records (X-Legged Sally – Killed By Charity) produced by Bill Laswell. Paul is a very nice chap too and a hell of a player for sure. Very refreshing looking bass. 👍
  2. It is, indeed. To do the mod, simply carefully unsolder the push-pull pot from the PCB and literally wire the new one. That said a push-push pot is a way better option to me...
  3. Funny, looks like almost nobody reads the bottom of a page or the previous one... And we could say the same about vintage 60's or 70's Japanese instruments, total crap back in the day, most of them made out of plywood and now highly regarded. 🤦🏻‍♂️ I agree that from the 80's on these Japanese instruments are top quality models better than their American counterparts, but before, come on ... be honest.
  4. So, now we all know that @Waddo Soqable is also known as Steptoenag elsewhere in the universe. Know what that makes a lot of now.
  5. In the garden office in its case or gigbag will protect it from humidity and temperature changes.
  6. I love ToneRider pickups which, to me, are as good if not better than boutique ones, for a fraction of the price.
  7. And @ped especially because the 60's models are yet totally out of reach financially speaking for a majority...
  8. Check this, it will be very helpful:
  9. Slap way closer to the neck or slap on the last frets and avoid muting with your forearm. Have the lowest action too. Boost the bass and high almost to the max on your onboard preamp. Yo.
  10. And the idea is also to have more dynamic, close to an acoustic instrument (without the volume).
  11. It's really built like an acoustic guitar, the sides being much wider in order to receive the neck, so it's totally hollow. It's not loud enough to compete with an acoustic guitar nor a drummer, but loud enough to hear yourself when playing. Hope it helps.
  12. €950 EUR: Laurent HUCHARD Une 4 Fretless, semi-acoustic bass, very very rare on the second hand market! Non-smoking environment as usual. The bass has been fully set up professionally. It is fitted with a brand new set of LaBella 750T White Nylon (stainless steel wound) strings (50 - 65 - 85 - 105), which really serve this bass for that Pino or Jaco sound and way much more. What you see is what you get ! Look carefully at the photos taken from different angles and lights to see the real condition, which is very good with some obvious marks (unglued ramp and nail mark above the pickup) and a few light dings. Here is the link to the 23 photos in high resolution: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QRqKN8NJdtDzlP2hKjUHwrNxCp5urpvF?usp=drive_link Due to severe back problems (67% officially disabled because of it) plus right shoulder injury (non-operable capsulitis from which, after more than 4 years, I will never fully recover), I'm selling all my basses over 4 kilos and also the ones I'm not really using like this one as well as some stuff I don't use. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale. Don't hesitate to ask for more.
  13. Note to myself: Stop helping people! Over.
  14. Ok, let's figure it the way it happened. You remember that there was no noise, or that you didn't notice it, so here is the first problem. You asked for help, you got it, but didn't take it into account trying to source an already existing problem that you didn't notice before. Here is why: When you were playing your instrument before the incident you didn't pay attention to that noise, because you were touching the strings almost all the time cancelling it and focusing on playing. But after opening the bass, renewing some solders and changing a wire, you noticed that noise, because you were in an environment where it became more obvious and you started focusing on its origin, but it was already there and you didn't notice it. Then you became mad, only hearing the noise and refusing to admit it was already there before. This is what an unreliable memory is, nothing else. Now shield that bass or buy the cable that you can use with other instruments, so you won't alter your bass and live happily. PS: I studied electronics, ran my own repair shop and your issue is really quite common and easy to solve. 😉
  15. @Dazed : The cause of the problem is electromagnetic interference. The reason of the problem is lack of shielding. The explanation of the problem is unreliable memory. Don't worry, memory is the least reliable part of our brain and it's a more than well known fact. Shield your bass or buy that cable and everything will be solved.
  16. Here, none, but as we all said 8f you want to solve your humming problem, shield all the cavities and star ground them as there is almost none znd it's not a question of pickup. Another possibility is to buy (and use) an Aero dBuz jack-jack cable as it will ground you for the reasons I explained above: https://d-buz.com/ Read all the explanations to clearly understand that this will solve your problem and keep your bass untouched as it's a (non Fender with the same issues) vintage bass. Bass Direct is selling these Aero dBuz cables and they are worth every penny: https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/aero-dbuz/
  17. That said @Dazed, a short video with the noise itself and the way you suppress it by touching (but with what?) the ground might help. It might also be oxidation of the output jack where the inner metal part is supposed to touch the lead ground...
  18. If I really had money to throw in the bin, I would change my GR Bass AeroTech Full Carbon Combo 800 and GR Bass AeroTech Full Carbon 112+ extension cabinet for the Natural Fibre equivalents just because I find them beautiful... 🤦🏻‍♂️ Congratulations @WishICouldWalk!
  19. This ∆∆∆ is how to solve your issue, which is typical from Fender instruments that are all really poorly shielded. In fact, when you touch the metal parts you ground yourself and when you're not grounded, you act like a huge emitting, receiving and transmitting antenna (that has to be grounded to stop the hissing and electrostatic noise). So when fully shielding all the cavities and (star) connecting them to the ground, the interferences emitted and/or transmitted by yourself and all the surrounding electrostatic noises received (and sometimes transmitted) by the pickup(s) will be grounded and make your signal to noise better, almost silent.
  20. Fake: There should be two truss rods!
  21. Didn't all Rickenbacker's start as Ibanez or Greco ? 🤦🏻‍♂️🤪
