If your instrument is properly and perfectly set up with correctly fitted strings, you won't hear any strange overtones, but a perfect intonation.
Yes, most people can't fit strings correctly, nor set up their instruments : it's a fact.
I'm using LaBella Super Steps and Fodera Anthony Jackson exposed cores strings to this purpose : a perfect intonation.
He he, knowing Manne basses for decades as I played one in a shop back in the day, I was also about to buy this one at this very slim price. I ended up buying another sixer fretless from Italy that I'm awaiting in the next days.
Manne basses are quite unknown outside of Italy indeed. But once you've played one, you know these are high end instruments.
I always liked their look and craftsmanship too. Their sound has something organic that is hard to describe.
That said Dominique Di Piazza is French. 😉
Good pick @Chris2112 !
PS : It would be nice if you removed your black background for the text as it's quite aggressive to the eyes. 😎
Number 3 is my favourite. I hate number 4 which seems to act like a flanger at the same time.
I'm using a JAM Pedals Waterfall, maybe it's in there too.
@ped : According to Chris Celinder, the serial number on the bolt-on basses is in the neck pocket. So, you'll need to unscrew the neck (again). My sixer was a neckthrough.
I checked my (numerous) photos, and on my sixer, the "serial number" was on the inner side of the back plate, but hardly readable. Maybe it's there too for yours.
Did you check the edge of the headstock for the serial number, Chris ?
And below are the specs of the Greengrove preamp.
User pot-meters :
- Treble cut
- Bass boost with center-detent
Onboard configurations :
- 6dB overall gain (dip switch)
- Narrow/wide equalizer (dip switch)
- Bright eq settings (dip switch)
The treble cut is designed to cut 6dB/Oct @ 500Hz-16kHz
The bass boost is giving boost or damping up to +/-16dB @ 40 Hz
DIP switches :
1.ON = Narrow Eq (on bassbost) / OFF = Wide Eq (on bassboost)
2."Higher eq" treble boost
3."Lower eq" treble boost
4.ON = +6dB gain (overall signal gain) / OFF = 0dB
Overall gain can also be adjusted on the mini trim pot-meter
Power supply : +9volts DC
Bass boost/cut : +/-16dB @ 40Hz
High cut : 6dB/oct 500Hz-16kHz
Hours : 200h (9 volt Alkaline)
Quite typical, but good news.
That said a Spanish courrier has lost the Leduc I bought in late August without any other explanations than : you have to wait, it will show up.
Some people still believe in magic...
The seller has refunded me, so it's all good. 😤
That said, I talk in inches for the scale of an instrument, except for double bass where I use metric measure and in imperial measures for the gauge of my strings...
