  1. Funny to see that those established resellers always use the Blue Book maximum quote for their prices... If you understand these pricings correctly, the bass on eBay is worth around £1500 at the max, after having checked all "original parts" carefully, of course. For those who remember it, I wrote a mémoire about vintage electric guitars and basses (free for reading, in French) and also another one about how to decipher a vintage Fender (I don't share this one anymore as there are too many informations for the fakers...). Here is the Blue Book quote for the early Fender Precision Basses up to 1958.
  2. The Villex pickups are really terrific with a very wide broadband of frequencies. GLWYS.
  3. What about a bargain price case ? https://m.befr.ebay.be/itm/1961-Original-Fender-Jazz-Precision-Bass-Case/254587209415?hash=item3b469486c7:g:54sAAOSwr9RerzSW
  4. Due to the Covid-19 situation and severe back problems (66% officially disabled because of it) plus right shoulder injury (non-operable capsulitis from which, after more than 3 years, I will never fully recover), I'm selling all my basses over 4 kilos and also the ones I'm not really using. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale. WARRIOR Dran Michael 7 (DM7) Custom NT Signature, top of the range model, early bird, 1996. ONLY POSSIBLE TRADE : LEDUC U-BASSE FRETLESS 6 ! The bass also comes with a brand new set of Dunlop gold Straplok as it's fitted with the flush mount strap system. Non-smoking environment as usual. The bass has been fully set up professionally by Christophe LEDUC when he did the new fretboard fitting, which also received a differential dressing. It has received two new batteries and has been fitted with a brand new set of Pyramid SSSL strings (22 - 27 - 47 - 67 - 87 - 107 - 128). Long story short, this bass started its life as a fretted, then has been defretted, then refretted, then defretted again and received the last (too much) refretting leaving the fretboard almost non existent. So, I decided to give this bass its original design and it received a thick Amazon rosewood fretboard with classic silver-nickel frets and a new truss rod (4 mm Allen key) as the original had broken (a common known problem by old Warrior basses). I chose the Amazon rosewood because it's quite close to the Brazilian rosewood when it comes to tone with clear and powerful low mids, thick bass and silk highs, but is also close to purpleheart in terms of colour and tone too (more low mids and less scooped by Amazon rosewood). Couple this with the full Bartolini design and you get a very versatile bass that cuts through the mix. And then the bass started some kind of Tour de France to get back to me, but it's too heavy for me (now), even if it's really easy to play thanks to the quite thin neck with a 16" radius fretboard. Look at the photos taken under different angles and light to see the excellent condition of this bass. And yes, the hard case is brown, but it's hard to photograph. The mark at the back of the neck that you can see clearly on the 8th photo is the sugar of the maple that has burned when sanded. This also attests the high quality of the maple used. 5. As nobody noticed it, Marc Fosset who played with Stéphane Grappelli (correct writing, by the way @bubinga5 ) died a few days ago...
  6. TrickFish Trilobite preamp (double preamp with volume controlled Line out only). MarkBass Stereo Ground Pre (double preamp with volume controlled D.I. and Line out). Fishman Pro-EQ Platinum Bass (single preamp with volume controlled D.I. and Line out). All 3 are transparent when flat.
  7. Pull it out gently. No worries, it's a totally normal positioning in the socket. As the 12AT7 is the driver tube, buy something like a Genalex Gold Lion which will be balanced. This is certainly the most important tube in your "creating the push-pull alternance" for the power amp, so better put the money where it's needed. This is this one : http://www.banzaimusic.com/ECC81-12AT7-Genalex-Gold-Lion.html
  8. Bought a LaBella White Nylon Extra Long Scale 5 Strings Set from Gareth. Smooth and easy transaction as the previous one. Bye bye 'til the next time. 👍
  9. Still for sale ?
  10. Already done...
  11. What about the pickup date stamps (on both parts) ? L series serial # ?
  12. The Hellborg preamp is amongst the best on all points, for sure. The rest of the range has known quality issues... So as @itu said, better give it a try before buying.
  13. Smells like teen spirit... 😂
  14. 😁
  15. This is indeed @krispn. In fact, as I was interested in trying one, I got this in a partial trade. The money I'm asking is just the counter value of the trade. Hoping this explains the low price better. It's really a great bass.
  16. Go six ! Five is not enough. 😁
  17. Used to be a GHS Bass Boomers lover for years, then switched to the opposite : LaBella Super Steps.
