1. I was playing a wedding, but not that one.
2. Usually in C for most bands I've played with, starting G as mentioned. We will do in a various styles, Status Quo styli etc.
3. PMd Andy.
4. Lovely looking bass there Andy.
5. I asked my parents for a guitar for my birthday (Jedson £22.50 in Camberwell High St). There was an identical Jedson bass for the same price on the wall next to it and they purchased that by accident. I saw the Who at the tender age of 13, Edmonton Sundown. They weren't doing stadium gigs for that tour so very intimate and a fantastic atmosphere plus standing only several feet in front of the band (original line up) with that energy and passion gave me an interest in trying to play something a couple of years later.
6.
I had that in a social club gig once. Drummer set up his kit, sat down, hit his (unamplified) snare once... and an old dear's voice from the darkness said "Ooh, it's a bit loud...".
Isn't it almost always the way that the people who complain about the volumn seem to position themselves directly in front of the PA speakers. Even those with the option to move (as in those not with dedicted seats at weddings/functions) will insist on staying where they are and complain throughout the whole evening.
7.
If you ever decide to part with it...
Will be offered to Basschaters first as with all my gear, but can't imagine letting this go for sometime. Interestingly the string issue is no longer an issue. Was in the garage earlier and checking the length of various old dead strings and in most cases standard size single ball ends will fit. Seems there is just enough extra string to cover the additional 2 inches of scale and cutting just after the nut. Also the preamp cut out so this is to do with the issue metioned by the seller. Switching to passive mode the Barts produce a really nice tone with the graphite so I'm gigging it like that for this weekend. The jazz on hand just in case.
8.
I occasionally play with a band where one member (a starvin' pro muso) takes Tupperware to take home some of the wedding food. She occasionally plays three gigs on a weekend and lives on buffet food for days
She must know our drummer, although he will also gaffer the end of some non-finished wine bottles and take those if possible if discrete.
9. Bass arrived today and very pleased with it so thought I'd share some photos as taken by the seller. The pictures don't really do it justice and is in better condition than I expected although there are some hairline cracks in the gloss finish around the body but nothing to worry about from a playing perspective. The preamp seems fine at the moment so don't know what the issue with it is that the seller mentioned. Will have to get it checked out before gigging. Was a little concerned about being 36" scale but so easy to play. Those lower notes have a real kick. Neck and frets seem fine with hardly any marks. Capable of very low action with minimal fretbuzz. Came fitted with 15 year old double ball end strings but will order some single ball end extra longs in the next couple of days as can use these. Any suggestions of what to try for a 36" scale thats any different to those already mentioned let me know. Will be looking for approx 40 60 80 100 125 gauge. In the end the total price came to £340 including shipping + case so pretty pleased with that.
10. I think your right. SKC were a major source for spares on all related products but not these days I guess.
11. Always been a fan of these basses and now they are back in production. Unfortunately a little pricey but if anyone gets the chance to pickup one of the earlier 90's models on the cheap I recommend giving it a try if a graphite neck fan. Bogart
12.
I don't think it can be taught. Feel is mostly about attitude, so you either get it or you don't. But I think it can be learned.
CK (4th post in) said it for me.
13. Well it's got to go as I simply don't have any use for it so price drop to £500 cash on collection.
14. Got to be the same one. I just found an old picture of it and looks near identical from what I can make out.
15. This is spooky. I had a very basic left handed fretless made by Andy's about 28 years ago, and it looked just like that before the marks. Paid £300 for it IIRC. Used it for a couple of tours, album recording then sold on a couple of years later.
16. I played Wembley Stadium last year. Well one of the function rooms upsatirs if I'm honest. Thats one to look forward to, should be a cracker.
17. The strings are brand new and unopened. I bought these about 3 months back but have now sold my 34" scale headless so have no use for them. Round Wound 40 60 80 100 125. Looking for £18.00 including postage. Thanks for looking.
18. A great price. I used to own Alligator gear in a previous life and for £150 you can't go wrong. If it's not gone in a few days I may be tempted myself.
19. Andy has bought two basses from me in the past two years. Highly recommended and a pleasure to do business with.
20. Top guy. Fast payment and highly recommended.
21.
Interesting where RU for collection ?
Bromley, South London/Kent. Thanks
22. Thursday looking forward to the weekend BUMP.
23. Appears to be an intermittent fault with the preamp. If it needs to be replaced thats not a problem.
