1. Another ebay seller worth checking out is Stratosphere. Always loads off stuff.
2. My point is that these guitars are supplied and sold with cases. SC appear to be selling off the old stock without the cases.
3. Thought this would generate more interest than it has. Any Sound Control staff on this forum???
4. Both new and old Fenders are supplied with Fender cases, although the American Standards are now a quality SKB case. The prices for all new Fenders include a case whether it's the American Standard or American Series. What I failed to mention was when I was in Dawsons later a member of staff there said that their price included the case unlike Sound Control. I made no mention of where I had been an hour earlier. It would be interesting to find out if other forum members have come across this or whether it's something that's being tried on by the Manchester/Salford stores. I'm still without a Jazz, but I can wait.
5. I'm choosing my words carefully here. Earlier today I went into a local SC store with the intention of purchasing a Fender Jazz. So with said funds in my arse pocket I was perusing their stock and noticed there were still a couple of the now phased out American Series Jazzes in stock at a significantly reduced price. They got my attention and I started talking to a member of staff about a sunburst one that looked the business. I asked him if that was the right price. He said it was as the American Series had now been replaced by the American Standard which I was already well aware of but kept schtum. That was the price for the guitar but the Fender hardshell case was £x extra!!! For years and years Fenders have been supplied with OHSC and were certainly supplied when I bought my first Fender in the late 80s. It now seems that they want to sell the case as an accessory in order to squeeze as much as they can out of the unsuspecting public. Some people not in the know will be scammed by this so spread the word. Stand your ground and demand the case is supplied with the guitar. If not do as I did turn on your heels and walk out. On the plus side still feeling a little miffed I nipped into Music Ground in Oxford Rd only to bump into Peter Hook fingering a vintage Shergold bass. He didn't buy it though. It's the creamy coloured one in the stores front window.
6. Welcome. Some local company for Nice Guy Eddie. Best forum on the net. Enjoy.
7. I'm looking at doing a little bit of home recording and I wondered if anybody had any experiences of these two bits of kit. It would either be a 2nd hand Pod or a new PX4D. What I've got in mind is something along the lines of what MarloweDK posts on Youtube. I just need a simple home recording/video setup so I can see and hear what I play like objectivley. Maybe if I do anything worthy I may even post it on the Tube. Your thoughts are welcome.
8. Actually being the pedantic SOB I am MarloweDK is actually Danish. But I guess Denmark is really just northern Germany really isn't it? ;0) I love his playing and subscribed to his site a while ago. He has his own site www.playbassnow.com which is worth a look. There are a number of other players on Youtube I recommend you check out; Bassisti, gobassgo1, alexcarr66 and subschool5 spring to mind. They are all phenominal players even if their musical tastes aren't the same as your own.
9. Welcome on board this happy ship.
10.
I dunno, i was under the impression the one i tried wasn't all that generic. Certainly didn't look it. I'm not just thinking of trying to find a cheap standard MIM jazz and upgrade the bridge and pickups etc. Or maybe find a cheap active one if possible but that could be hard.... Is it possible to install an active preamp into a standard jazz without much difficulty? EDIT: i think i found something. There was one of these on ebay not long ago and i wish i could have snapped it up. jazz body with QM top in cherry sunburst or tobacco burst (all of which has always appealed to me, apart from the tobacco burst but it looks nice on this), also 24 frets, active electronics, seymour duncan basslines... yum, and a heftier bridge than the standard fender one and only £500 new, i like! Ignore the bass on the left there, i prefer the cherry burst tbh... Thoughts? anyone tried one?
I love the one on the left. If you don't want it please will you give it to me?
11.
Hey maybe I should get in touch with the Gallery or a shop on Denmark St. as I have a Birds-Eye Maple 4 stringer and TBH I'd be looking for £1200 - £1300 for this I really do wish your mate well and hope he gets his price (where-ever it might sell) as it's about time these Warwick prices recovered... and they will.
That is lovely and would compliment my '92 nicely. If only I had the cash. Good luck with the sale.
12. I've still got the Spector MB1
13. Have you noticed MB1 and Pkomor have the same avatar???? Very odd.
14. There is a red jazz in Harker & Howarths in Bolton that looks lovely head on but when you turn it to the light it shows up a very iffy paint job. Could be a one off but it's the first one I'd seen.
15. Why do people not like Warwicks at the moment??? I just don't get it.
16. I sold my blonde 64 reissue Fender Twin Reverb to John Butler from Diesel Park West. Couldn't believe it when he turned up on my doorstep after driving up from Leicester. Got him to sign a couple of CDs for me. Very nice chap. You can see the amp on some live shots on their website. Glad it went to a good home. ... it funded a Trace Elliott combo so don't worry I haven't betrayed you all.
17.
Well did anyone on here bag it? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=015 Nice basses these!
Blimmin' lovely. I'm gassing for a jazz.
18.
GnR are amazing, and Dolly Parton - what a songwriter. I'd still giver her one, even now.
Oh God. You are not very well at all are you? However, I think Dolly would run a mile (although it might take a while)
19. Go for it. I love my Euro 4LX.
20. I recently went into a local guitar shop and they had a maple neck ash bodied telecaster which was identical in every way to a telecaster I had at home. Identical apart from the custom shop logo on the headstock and a more highly figured neck. It wasn't any better in terms of construction or sound but was nearly four times the price. It wasn't worth it and I would be terrified to use it outside of a highly padded room. The same day I also played an Eric Clapton signature strat that looked like it had been put together in a darkened room by men in sunglasses. And they wanted £1900. If you've got money to burn then fine but better alternatives exist.
21.
Hi Mike, Whats given up the ghost? Your laptop or the mixer? If you still have the laptop then you have more potential solutions I think. I have ditched my Tascam CD bass trainer in favour of my apple mac with garageband and itunes/the amazing slow downer software. I usually just play along with itunes unless I need to change the key or speed to a song and then I use the amazing slow downer. I would like a usb interface for the bass but at the moment I just go straight into the sound card and its reasonable. I can mix the different levels using garageband and itunes seperately. If you have a PC and not a mac there will be alternative software which you can use including free basic drum machines. Hope this helps, Steve
I have the Tascam MP Bass Trainer and have had no problems regarding reliability so I would recommend it. I have a mac with Garageband installed but have no idea how to use it.
22. Believe it or not the tone MarloweDK gets is via a little Pandora PX4 headphone amp that he plugs into his mac. If you look for one of his videos he goes through his home setup. There are no amps used at all as he 'has neighbours'. He's very impressive and I do love his playing even if it isn't all to my taste. Without doubt he is one of the best players on Youtube.
23. I have the exact same problem, if it is a problem, with my 92 Streamer. The wiring seems fine but it does seem a little pointless not being able to adjust anything other than volume in passive mode.
24. Blonde 52 reissue telecaster. Gorgeous.
25. I remember seeing Nigel in a band years ago when I was at school. He played a Rickenbacker then. Seen him in Tescos in Walkden a few times. Great playing... but where is the tune?
