IME this is the issue. The lack of control most bands would have had over how their first album sounded cannot be overstated. What the band intended and what the record company paid for are very different things.

My Fender custom shop bass was actually a Kubicki. I had 2 Kubick's, one made by Kubicki, the other (for some reason) made by the Fender custom shop. The only difference was the Fender had a nicer neck (for me). A tad slimmer and faster.

Decent attenuating earplugs are great for noisy environments because they reduce background volume but you can still have a conversation with the person in front of you.

Poor Doug, would have had the 'Stones gig if it wasn't for Vernon. Looks like he hasn't borne a grudge.

Disagree, IME that's the worst thing to do. The advice I got from an audiologist was to concentrate on it, and listen to it, and eventually your brain reaches a point where it tunes it out automatically. For me this has worked, and it is so much better than it used to be to the point that I can now ignore it. I always wanted to tune it, so that it was a specific pitch and useful for tuning. Never happened though 😆
