  1. It's an amp in the for sale thread. An Ashdown. If I can get the full whack from one cable I'll buy it, but I didn't want to influence anyone else buying just because it possibly doesn't do what I want.
  2. It was done by @Cosmicrain of this parish, so I assume so.
  3. Usage is the final arbiter, you'll all be saying it tomorrow! 😉
  4. Not my amp. Yet...
  5. But will the amp be giving the 'full' 500w? Or less watts at 8ohm?
  6. The pic is my cab. Supposing I had 500w amp (minimum 4ohm load) which had 2, 8ohm speakon outputs. Could I connect both amp outputs to both cab inputs to get the 'full' 500w, or would something nasty happen?
  7. "If you can play guitar you can play bass"
  8. I blame the Government!
  9. If chicken fat was good enough for Jaco... 😜
  10. Can't comment on the OP's choice, but just for a contrary opinion, I have a Puma 500 and it sounds lovely and warm.
  11. I gigged for years with the equivalent green carpet covered one. Great combo 😎
  12. For those of us who do not do the Twitter, could you provide some context please 🙂
  13. Yesterday's afternoon gig, was at Choko Beerfest. The last of my dep gigs for The Soul Seniors. It was in a marquee at the back of a village hall in rural Oxfordshire. There was beer on sale, but it was more like a 'family fun day' what with all the kids running about. As it was a lovely day, most people we're in the sun outside the marquee, but they seemed to be listening as we were getting applause. I took minimal gear, bass setup was: Bass - wireless - pedal tuner - BDI21 - PA. It was a tinny bass sound from the monitors but it sounded good out front. Got back home to that London in daylight.
  14. C Country Music Awards and not a Stetson in sight! 😉
  15. I restrung mine B-E-A-D as I was playing in a Sadistic Darkwave band at the time (don't ask!). It handled the low B fine, just had to route the nut notch a tad.
  16. His addictions in no way justify his behaviour.
  17. IIRC there was a red passive USA Sub for sale here recently, last year, or the year before?
  18. I bought one when they first came out. Or rather I ordered one, black and passive, and was sent a black and active. Back it went, and a few weeks later I was sent a red and passive. Back it went, then a couple of weeks later I finally received my black passive USA Sub. I posted about it on the Music Man forum, in a thread called 'The bass they didn't want me to have!'. This became the thread they did not want to show, because it was deleted. 3 times 😝 Anyway I really liked the bass, it sounded like a MM despite being passive, lovely neck, and wasn't too heavy. I only got rid because I play fingerstyle and the edge of the body was not contoured, and used to dig into my arm, eventually quite painfully by the end of a gig. With hindsight I should have just chamfered a tad off the corner where my arm rested.
  19. Diamond Dave doing it in Spanish
  20. I know he didn't actually sing it himself, but this is still a great song
  21. Loving the zebra print troos! Takes me back ☺️
  22. It matters because bad technique can lead to RSI and other injuries - muscle, wrist, tendons. Even back injuries.
  23. @Merton I hope you're gonna bring this to the SE Bass Bash? 😁
  24. The whole 'I could never play like that' thing probably deserves its own thread, but unless you have a physical infirmity, technical ability is achievable, but it takes practice (and probably more practice than most of us can do who work for a living) and also knowing what and how to practice. Musicality on the other hand is a different matter.
