1.
I think it was the millions of albums that they sold.
Even though Damon's first Gorilla album outsold all Blur albums combined, and Alex had a single (Vindaloo?) which outsold all Blur singles combined?
2. I think there may be a tad of confusion surrounding this thread It's actually asking the question 'who was the last guitar hero?'. Guitar heroes as espouced by guitar publications back in the day such as Guitar for the Practising Musician. There has been no mention of, or claim of anything is 'better', and no disparaging other guitarists. I still say Bettencourt. Extreme came to prominence with their second album in 1990. Gilbert was already well known through his Racer X days before Mr Big's first album in 1989, and Slash came in to the scene in with G n R's first album in 1987. Bellamy is a great player, but I'd agree with Leftybassman, he doesn't fit the old school guitar hero mould. .
3. It will look cool when Bootsy is playing it.
4. no idea, but have subscribed to the thread!
5.
And they may not know to not turn up most of the drummers mics in the PA, they are just there to make him happy.
6. My parents went to school with the Yorkshire Ripper. Of course he wasn't the Yorkshire Ripper at the time, that would have been a bit of a give away in later life.
7. Back in the days of Guitar for the Practising Musician, guitar heroes were a plenty. Then gunge came along and did away with all that. But who was the last guitar hero? I mean proper back in the day guitar hero, I reckon Nuno Bettencourt.
8.
Horribly true;)
9. frequent references to Top of the Pops to illustrate how bad music was. People seem to forget Led Zeppelin were still kicking ass, Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple were around, and Motorhead were getting started. Not to mention all the stateside funk involving Larry Graham and Bootsy Collins.
10. it wouldn't be easy as I'm the youngerst and prettiest
11.
A lot of rubbish is spoken about music
this. /thread
12. I remember back in the 80's when Harrison was in the hit parade with the 45 of 'i've got my mind set on you'. He garnered quite a few votes in the Smash Hits best newcomer poll.
There's only ever been one bad veggie and that was Hitler. The rest are all lovely.
Not according to QI. The veggie part, not the bad part.
13. i fancy a fry up and cuppa now! Different location, but a kind of an old west vibe going on
14. i haven't got any money on my Oyster card from a guitarist. For those not in that London, an Oyster card is a pre-pay travel card.
15. they seem to have got it right with the Les Paul Axcess, but then ruined it by putting on a Floyd Rose trem.
16. ... has sorted out the usual Les Paul problems, in particular upper fret access, balance, no body contouring, and weight?
17. Okay, I know what makes one great for me will be different to you, but for example we have a couple (ahem!) of 12 bars in our set - http://www.junkyarddogslondon.co.uk/home.html thank you very much - but I do particularly enjoy playing Keep Your Hands to Yourself. Not sure why this should be, as every reason I love playing it can be found in other 12 bars
18.
Sorry about the quality, not very good lighting in the room!
sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
19. i love mine, don't see the point in having them if no-one else can see them. Mine are pink and they pulse and flash too From the pic they would certainly add something to the image, and if the workmanship is quality then good score on getting them for free. BUT it's your bass so do what the hell you like regardless of what others want.
20. yep, Ibanez Blazer Bass. Lovely bass, great neck, light but plenty of bottom end. Had to sell to buy my next bass which was a yellow Precision with a bass boost. Weighed a ton but sounded great. Had to sell a few years later to pay the rent. This could go on but I think we have another thread for that
21.
Manchester.
not by Canal Street?
22.
Ummm... where do you rehearse....? *whistles...*
so getting back to where this rehearsal studio actually is?
23.
How long have you got?
from about 9 until 12.
24.
Just turn the volume down to zero and watch it a few more times, for research purposes only of course
Beyonce videos are like that, turn off the volume and play some Led Zepplin and Beyonce is great
