  1. The Supreme looks pretty similar to the Revelation RBG too.......
  2. I've also had this in my eBay watch list for a while. Tempting me. Making me thinking about it at all hours of the day........£300 from China. How bad can it be?? I've got zero use for it, but I do love an SG shape.
  3. Stingrays are mine too. They wouldn't fit in any band I'm in and I haven't got on with the necks on any I've played before. Really love listening to other people playing them though and am always tempted to give them a go!
  4. If you're looking at a Jazz then give Limelight a look (if you're OK with relics). They can essentially build you a custom shop J for a lot less money. I picked up a Limelight P last year and love it. Heading in the complete opposite direction...........if you're playing rock/blues rock then a Gibson SG is perfect. I love mine and it's one of the most fun basses I've ever played. It takes dirt wonderfully well for that extra bit of grunt n grime, it's body is thin and light weight, neck is easy to play and it looks the biz. If you can't do neck dive then it won't be for you - it's so light that I've never found it a hinderance. Plus, my left hand is pretty much always near the neck, so it doesn't go anywhere!
  5. This is one of my favourite blues tunes as it's normally pretty ballsy/rocking/powerful, but I love this cover of it for the funkier bas line. Think it might be Kenny Berdoll on bass - enjoy!
  6. It's really stunning, probably the most easy on the eye of the new Vintera range imo. Thanks for the extra pics, I'm very jealous!
  7. Prove it, more pictures please!! It's pretty hard to make out what it looks like, is it a sort of iridescent burgundy burst around the edges? Either way, I like what I've seen from pics so far 😃
  8. Ohhhh, is that the competition burgundy? They look lovely in pics I've seen online, but the name really confuses me! Gorgeous bass - enjoy!
  9. No worries, I knew spending hours just staring and lusting over it would come in useful one day. Looking forward to the NBD thread 😂
  10. Congrats on your new bass! The rosewood on yours looks lovely and dark. Since picking up a Limelight earlier in the year I toy with the idea of moving mine on......then I play it. The neck is just perfect and the build quality is great. Enjoy it!
  11. I like that a lot - what is it? I'd be tempted to just use a black scratch plate and keep the body as is, looks pretty good to me!
  12. Haven't seen one of these before..... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204531032949?hash=item2f9effe375:g:aNIAAOSwxCZlShur&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8FRWbsRzbspKBfdyJg89HLnKohayhJpg0tDO%2B%2F2TXyz5nJwyoI5dH8LDVlexc%2BIQoKzj3Q18IGgp2WTkUvGdAtVselYmKDUuGe8kDm9sjSUmScBfgVie4mrteYjmMklsofvU9P%2BXou26MsgBfdB9DhIlbiMjaOuYkgicPtabKgPSXsoIuq0%2FdIZdrfrxyeIx3SMr92u5%2F4YwhWru1mZ%2BytbYx6S6kxO83UFr%2FrFX7Y7xvlYQg8qNVZmLabkg11va7F1r7uZIon3pEtRuw0n6jdiSUlfTZt0Pv5N3W%2BDKqCdPXjAh0nYRvlLZiiNoGwHKFQ%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR5q45-yPYw
  13. The Gallery in Camden only charge £110 for a defret according to their site, which seems pretty reasonable to me. The only thing that would annoy me is that the fretboard markers and side dots would be in the wrong place, but I'm sure they could deal with that for you too. At the lower end of your budget is the Harley Benton B-450FL - unlined fretless with humbuckers for £165. HB stuff is decent and it's worth a go if it's just something you want to experiment with.
  14. I was thinking about picking one of these up a year or so ago but haven't ever seen any in the UK. I called one of the bigger retailers that usually stock G&L stuff (either Guitarguitar or Andetons) and they could order one in, but they wanted a non refundable/transferable deposit and I didn't fancy doing that for a bass I haven't played. I think they came in at around £650ish at the time.
  15. Really glad you're happy with the pair! Agree with you on those pups, I've only played the MK1 Vintera but thought it sounded great - much better than the Am pro2. It was equally happy digging in with a pick for some Dead Kennedys as it was playing some softer blues.
  16. What a lovely duo! Really like the necks on these and they sound fantastic too. Do you know if the pups are the same in the new series?
  17. This came up on my Spotify after listening to some Mountain. Never really heard of The Amboy Dukes and didn't know Ted Nugent was in a band before his solo stuff. Anyway, it's a dirty blues instrumental that is fun to listen to.. The rest of the album is good for some classic blues rock too!
  18. Some of my favourites...... Curtis Mayfield - Tripping Out I'll take care of you - Mark Lanegan. There's so many great versions of this song, but Mark's voice just seems to suit this so well Stand inside your love - Smashing Pumpkins
  19. Stone the crows is a fantastic shout! Really love Dewar's voice and his work with Robin Trower
  20. Yeah I get that. Polo necks, brown leather jackets and sliding across the car bonnet all come to mind when listening to it. To be honest, I really liked that vibe and was pleasantly surprised when I first listened. It wasn't the fusiony jazz tune I was expecting and I thought I might like it. Then all those extra notes were chucked in and my brain started to itch.
  21. Not enough plodding along with root notes for my liking 😂 I can't get my head around this type of jazz, fantastic player though.
  22. Dark is definitely different to dull to my ears. I think of a lot of grungey stuff when talking about a dark bass tone. These are a couple of my favourites.....
  23. So they're essentially playing a CD of the original recordings? Is the vocal track a pre-recorded newer one, or is it the original recording too? I'm not a big fan, but what Madonna has done and produced over her career is simply amazing. Have to say I'd be gutted if I was a fan and going to see this tour, I'm guessing tix aren't cheap and I'd feel swindled a bit. With all the talk of Abba and holograms though - that got me thinking. Will we get to the point where (with improvements in AI/holo tech) we'll be able to see legendry live performances from artists that are no longer with us? Have to admit I'd be tempted to see a few of the below if the prices were right and it felt live... Who - Live at Leeds Elvis - '68 come back special / live on stage in Memphis Queen - Wembley '86
  24. Well that is ridiculous!!! How much is a Sterling 24 and Darkglass pedal?! No idea why someone would pay that much for this, but each to their own. It is a bit of an ask - especially considering the brittle tuners and almost non existent truss rod that went out in the purple Sterling 34.
