2.
Folks, I have been offered my dream bass, a lovely custom Wal from a decent chap on here. I am really after a fretless Wal and due to their rarity and vastly inflated prices as new (£5k!) I was wondering about getting a decent pro Luthier to de-fret the neck and turn it into a lined fretless possibly even getting Electric wood to do it. Am I mad? should I just keep waiting for a fretless? am I stealing a decent fretted from the world? Thoughts? Steve.
Steve, I had my green WAL MK II 5 turned into a lined fretless and since I've never looked back - it smokes! However, I also own another MK II 5 fretted, so, no loss here soundwise. Just do it. tc Oliver
 3.
This dancing routine by Gabriel is terrible (clearly a case of white men who aren't use to dance who do ridiculous attempts)
Ha, ha! Yes - or like having a fit on stage like Ian Curtis ...
 4.
Not sure which sort of wood this is...it's not mentionned on the inside.
Hi Geert & merry Christmas! I think the top is sycamore. Beautiful Wal. tc Oliver
 5. My evil twins: WAL MKII 5 fretted & fretless. Nothing like them soundwise.
 6. have a Christmas bump from Germany on me! I also saw the bass in the flesh - killer sound & playability. Oliver
 7. Recently had Rüdiger from Bassline Basses Germany convert the green fiver to a lined fretless and it sounds and plays incredibly well. Still having a hard time waiting for Paul Herman to finish my white 2010 fretted WAL 4string, though. Should be ready around March or April. Should roughly look like the one in the attachment, but in the MK2 shape.
 8. Geeeez - Geert! You cannot do that! If I hadn't that killer WAL 5 fretless I would instantly buy that Le Fay from you. Having played it shortly at your place I can only recommend both the instrument and the seller Best of luck w/ the sale! ta Oliver

 10. The six-string's gone, in came the green (already turned into a lined fretless) and the black one turned red in its wrath : (Gonna get a white MKII 4 Moby Dick soon)
 11. Can't get enough of both my red and my green WAL 5 http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;hl=wal+geddy ta Oliver
 12.
Went to the new Wal factory yesterday with Mike G and had a great couple of hours... Paul Herman gave us his time and showed us around which was fantastic, so a big thanks to Paul for that! Very briefly, the details on prices, build times etc, etc will all be available soon on the new website which is about to be launched though there isn't a date set for that yet. Quite wisely, Paul is ensuring that things are done very carefully so that the re-launch of Wal Basses is done with great care and respect for the brand name and also, to manage the considerable expectation that there is out there from amongst the Wal bass community! With that in mind, I've said to Paul I'll let him see any photos I took yesterday before posting them up here or on the Walbassesnaturally group on Yahoo, so when he's had a look at them first and okay'd them, I'll put them up in another thread...
Any update on the above? ta Oliver
 13.
Hey all, I'm down to just one bass now, after selling my Wal to a very happy Brummie. It's a 3EQ Stingray. The preamp is blown, so I'm looking to replace it. Also thinking about swapping the pickup out as it's always suffered from the 'Weak G' thing.. I'm pretty bored of the 'trademark' Stingray sound, so I'm looking for suggestions for a new pickup / preamp that may steer away from this slightly. Aguilar springs to mind preamp-wise, but I have no clue as to MM-sized replacement pickups. Any suggestions welcome
Hi there, sold your WAL at last! Well, I once had a Stingray like yours and pimped it with an Aguilar OBP3 pre and a Bartolini MM Replacement PU - worked like a charm and tore every normal Stingray to pieces! ta Oliver
 14.
I am about to ebay my mk 3 wal 5 string bass. Its american walnut top with silver hardware and in great condition. I got it about 7 years ago from Pete himself. How much should I put on as a reserve?
Hi, a new one should sell for roughly 3500 GBP. Best of luck with the sale. Oliver
 15.
Thanks for the bump but if all goes well the bass will be leaving Belgium next week... The bass is as good as sold. The young man who gets it surely obtains a beautiful and great sounding bass. The blue finish is just a joy to see and the sound is punchy and full. I had doubts to sell it but as I said I don't want to be a collector and this bass deserves to inspire someone else who plays it a lot. I don't believe in great basses locked away or staying in cases too long. The people who build them want their basses to be played. And with the money I get I can look around for something else which will inspire me hopefully for a while.
Well said! BTW the six-string is going to the South of Germany tomorrow ... Going to have Paul build me a Moby Dick (white MK II 4) with the money
 16.
There's a guy in Germany selling a 6 string Wal. You should have enough change to get some Bergantino cabs as well!
Yes, that's me - and the WAL is still here
 17.
Trades? 1920s Stuttgart factory Double bass, valued at 4500GBP (realistic sale value 3000). Worth a shot, but I realise you need the money
Hi there, very tempting, but you say it - I really need the money.
 18. simply wonderful - good luck with the sale!
 19. someone go for that one! I would if I hadn't just bought a blue MK II ... Geert is a very trustworthy and friendly fellow to deal with. Best of luck with the sale! Oliver
