1. Wish my house looked like that
2.
This is amazing! Love it
+1
3. I was just listening absent-mindedly to the radio while working on my pc and they happened to play Slowhand by The Pointer Sisters. I liked when it came out, I still like it, and I must have heard it a thousand times. What really hit me this time was how simple but perfectly formed the bass-line is. It lays down a rock-solid foundation without getting in the way or spoiling the laid-back mood, lets the song breathe, and - as a bass-player - I found myself savouring the rich tone and perfect placement of every note played. By the end, I was convinced that adding anything would just spoil it - and removing anything would do the same. So, what are your suggestions for the title of best-ever 'simple but effective' bass-line? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnVOt2LK2Gg
4. As long as she can cope with the 28.6" scale (slightly shorter than standard short scale), +1 for the Ibanez Mikro. They are excellent quality, look/sound like a proper bass guitar but are extremely compact and light. I used one as a 'travel bass' for a while and sold it to a 'Dad' in a similar situation to your own. He was delighted with it when he collected it and (he told me later) so was his son when he got it for his Birthday present.
5. A bit strange not having anywhere to try them in the country where they're built - especially when the Polish economy is (or certainly was last time I looked) growing faster than anywhere else in Europe. Maybe they all get shipped to Adrian in Germany for their final quality check/set-up.
6. That's a big bang for not many bucks - GLWTS
7.
Have to confess, I've not read this entire thread, but does anyone here know where in Poland Maruszcyk are based? I'm going to Krakow and wondering if there's any chance of getting to try some basses.
The factory is in Poland but Adrian M himself and his trading company Public Peace are based in Aldenhoven, Germany (that's why the factory address doesn't figure on anybody's radar). My understanding is that he was planning to either move his demo facility to the factory or build another, main demo suite there this year. In any event, you'd be better contacting the man himself at "][email protected]
8. I've heard their lead guitarist plays a Fender Strad
9. I was a Volvo man myself - complete with pipe, slippers, black lab, and Trace Elliot rig
10. So, I went for it - and I absolutely love it! Just received this morning a mint and boxed example from 'starless', who replied to my 'wanted' ad on the forum. Thanks to all who aided and abetted me with my latest GAS raid. (Tried Gilly's TH500 first btw).
11. Thanks mate - e-mail sent.
12. Just got a Magellan 800 from Graeme. Arrived mint and boxed - how good is that?! Everything went as smoothly as you could possibly wish for, so no hesitation in echoing the other positive comments about this top Basschat-ter. Oh, and I absolutely love the amp btw. Mike
13. Bump time for this lovely lump (2 lumps to be precise) of Brit-amp heritage.
14.
I know there are a few helpful shortscale threads on BC - worth a look through. However, to answer directly here, I simply find shortscales easier to use (reduced tension, increased compliance), usually lighter, ergonomically efficient (less stretching for arms and fingers), and the tone lacks nothing - at least with a decently built instrument. I find that shorties are fun - quick and light - easy to pick-up and wander around with
+1
15. Hey Scott! That doesn't look like a short-scale to me
16. The MK link is a bit tenuous! This bass was never owned or played by him but the owner allegedly knew JD and MK personally - which does make it expensive IMHO.
17. Thanks for info Hellzero and M@23.
18. +1 for Bass Soul Food
19.
Used this last night, having not gigged it for about a month. Didn't even engage the EQ, it was wonderful. Bump
The Glockenklang amps are fascinating but a bit of a mystery to me - and maybe other potential buyers on the forum. Do you know, are there any essential differences (e.g. in core tone) between their 'Blue Sky', 'Blue Soul' and 'Heart Rick' (IIRC) amps?
20.
I played this bass a couple of days ago and it is the easiest bass I have played since trying out a mate's Alembic Stanley Clarke a while back. There are two contrasting Scott Whitley vids that show how versatile these basses are. I hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread Mike?!
