1.
Has anyone tried one of these? http://bassdirect.co...Ass_straps.html I'm after the most padded strap I can get (within reason). Already have a Mono, and a Neotech - both work on my other basses, but my old Ricky is a bit of a boat anchor, and very tough on long gigs and rehearsals. Saw these, and thought they look of good quality, especially given in how high regard their instruments are. Ideas?
I've got Maru's - wide and extra-wide. With my heaviest bass I find the extra-wide as comfy as my ridiculously expensive Gibson strap that has even more padding. The normal wide is just as comfy with my lighter basses. Re colour-fastness, can't comment as mine aren't black and I'm not much of a sweater
2. PS Just spotted that bass in case shot was taken while gizmo was away for powder coating - it still fits perfectly with gizmo attached.
3. Looking for a beautiful and unique bass that's compact, light-weight, perfectly balance and super-easy to play? This mint SWB-1 with flamed maple top and matching headstock was a special, extra-cost order to match the one-off bass that Scott himself was playing at the time. I had it professionally set up with my preferred D'Addario EXL220S 040-095 nickel rounds and my luthier made a new 'antique bone' nut to suit. The other special thing about this bass is the one-off 'gizmo' I designed to fix the awkward positioning/balance on the strap by shifting the top button to the f12 'sweet-spot'. This works a treat, is made from light-weight aluminium and looks like a professional job with its black powder-coated finish. (I put a lot of thought and time in to designing something that's quickly removable, won't mark the body and requires negligible modification to the bass itself. The top fixing is the original strap button screw/hole so the only addition is a small screw hole in the back.) The only reason I'm selling is that I decided to buy a Maruszczyk soon after and the SWB-1 hasn't seen any action since. Please note that I've priced it to reflect the work done because I want it to go to someone who needs and values the mod's. Both bass and case are as new. 4. Useful info Phil - that's a pretty heavyweight cv! Shame he's not a bit nearer to me; my local luthier was a 20-minute drive up the road but tragically passed away last year. Suppose I could always persuade Mrs Scrumpy that we need a holiday in Brighton . What are his charges like for fettling/set-up work?
5. Hmmmm... definitely a bit 'loose' - still good though
6. OK, I've had a proper look and I reckon my ideal setup would be the basic Lehle ll switching my 2 basses in to an amp with pre-sets like a TC Electronic RH750! Thanks again guys.
7. Just re-read the bit in my earlier post re Lehle Little Dual and it doesn't make sense to me any more. If it doesn't make sense to you either, please treat as a 'senior moment' on my part and ignore it (they're getting more frequent these days ).
8. Thanks for the feedback guys. Really can show Botophucket the finger now
9. PS Thanks to everybody else for other suggestions.
10.
I use a Lehle switcher which is a great bit of kit. I could route 3 basses through it and switch outputs between the amp and a tuner. It also has trim pots so I can match the outputs.
Which switcher have you got? Had a quick look online and the ones I saw don't appear to have pot controls. Their Little Dual that switches between 2 amps (or both together into different cab) looks interesting though and could be my best bet so that I have different amp/cab combinations to suit my different basses! Also, I don't really need extra knobs to twiddle and this doesn't appear to have any!
11. I know I've seen something but just can't remember what. I'm using an electro-acoustic as well as my solid-bodied bass in one of my bands and it would be handy to have both plugged in (preferably with different control settings for each) and just switch between the two. I'm looking for something that won't be too rare/expensive on the used market. An alternative would be to plug some sort of twin-socket adapter in to my existing amp and get the sound differentiation with FX pedals - has anybody done this?
12.
That's lovely...
Certainly is - GLWTS
13.
Images not working for me either.
Thanks - I'm on it!
14.
Imagebb doesn't seem to be your friend either as I can't see any photos, just error messages. Try postimage.io
Thanks for the feedback - the images are all showing when I open the topic! Time for further investigation.
15. Bump with edited/additional pics (nasty Botophucket images replaced )
16. Bump for one of Fender's finest!
17. Well done Dudgeman
18.
They know there were problems with certain models - same happened with me - sent me a new one and I kept the original one, swapped the sticky part for a nut and bolt - hey presto, worked fine - in effect had a free stand. Good to see some companies care about customer service.
+1 - if they are happy to spare no expense when fixing quality issues you have to assume that they don't have many. I was happy to buy 2 more of their stands afterwards.
19.
I normally don't bother the odd spelling error but it's really starting to piss me off, it's the Jean Genie, not Gene Genie or G G, if you can't spell it right it's not a good start, and if G A G doesn't sound right it's probably because you've got so used to playing it wrong, or, your guitarist isn't playing it right, ok rant over
Quite right to rant about the spelling! I'm normally not that sloppy - must have inherited a late-onset rogue spelling gene
20.
Its been another good thread. Dave
Certainly has. So interesting to get the definitive answer from Trevor Bolder to the OP's Gene-Genie question and to hear the ZS & TSFM story from the band's perspective - and . The phrase 'unsung heroes' springs to mind.
21. Thanks dmccombe7 for posting The Spiders From Mars Interviews - just finished watching and loved it! Brought back some happy memories of playing Bowie stuff - including The G-G - dep'ing behind a really good Bowie tribute artist at a one-off charity gig years ago.
22. They've done the same for me and a few other Basschat members. Top marks!
