1. Good grief Jabba - I take my hat off to you mate! The stuff that you and Andy JR do really floats my boat - it's the detailing that I love like the hole in the head-stock so you can hang it up on a wall peg
2.
(amazing combo Quilter + One10)
Mine is Eden WTX-264 (small, transparent and cheap as chips!!) + One10. Hey, just thought about the new TE 200w Elf... now that WOULD be minimalist!!!
3.
I'm quite happy with the Mesa so there's no pressing reason to change it. I was just contemplating moving it on for a 4 ohm cab on the assumption that it would be louder with the increased wattage from the amp. However, it seems my assumption is not necessarily correct and there are more factors that need to be taken into consideration. So I might just hang on to it now. Maybe.... One unexpected factor that has come out of the thread in favour of changing cabs is that of weight. I've no idea what the Mesa weighs but it's a good weight for its size, I'd guess around 15 Kg. I'm so used to lugging it about and haven't really thought about it before, but looking at the specs of the BF cabs, and getting older by the day, the appeal of something less than half the weight of the Mesa is very tempting.
Ahhh - I understood (wrongly) from your OP that you had two reasons for wanting to change your Mesa: to get a 4ohm cab AND because you were struggling to lift it one-handed. Anyway, I can tell you that I definitely prefer lifting 7kg instead of 15kg nowadays . Just to add also that, based on my experience, I agree that the high efficiency of speakers like the BF 12" and 10" drivers makes the 8ohm versus 4ohm debate much less of an issue with a 300w amp.
4. My 'small 4ohm cab' is 2 of the exceedingly small BF 8ohm One10s - more versatile IMHO than their 4ohm Two10. As it happens, I'm thinking about selling my SC Gen 3 and adding a third 10-incher.
5. I've never come across anybody who plays Chuck Berry like Chuck Berry - and HE didn't have Chuck Berry to copy!
6. OK it's bump time again - would all those who want to purchase this fine bass please form an orderly queue
7. I've got a couple of the One10s - handle 500w without breaking sweat and so convenient. I've also got Super Compact Gen 3, which sounds different but still nice - to me anyway (just the new 12" driver, no tweeter).
8. The One10 will also contribute to the vintage tone you're getting.
9. Soooo, here's my BF story! Bought Kev's Midget T and SC Gen 3, preferred the SC G3 and so moved the Midget T on. Decided to get a new One10 to use with my Eden WTX-264 for home/practice/small venue/back-line - so impressed with the One10 that I've just got another! Lots of options now: Eden + 1 x 10 or 2 x 10s; RM EVO 500 + 2 x 10s or 1 x 12; all 3 cabs + Magellan 800 switched down to 2.67ohms. Now a REALLY happy bass-bunny and don't expect to change a thing in the foreseeable future (famous last words ).
10.
Hi guys, was just wondering, when you ordered through Adrian, how did you know about the advancement in the making of your bass ? I ordered in July, Adrian was a bit vague about delivery time and didn't get much news from him since then. Did he just messaged you when the bass was ready ?
I've bought 2 M basses (one Maruszczyk and one Mensinger) and didn't get any updates - just had to wait Mind you, on both occasions I was quoted the 'standard' 12-week build time but they arrived early! I'd hope that Adrian would get back to anyone that was having to wait longer - if that ever happened.
11. Changed topic title as this thread has changed from a 420 enquiry into a 500 love-in !!
12. Just sold an Electro-Harmonix Bass Soul Food pedal to jellyknees - smooth process completed in double-quick time. Proper Basschatter - thanks again for buying Neil!
13.
Pm sent
And replied - Phil has first dibs on this.
14.
Nice one Mike, glad you like it, they really are a hidden gem amongst the smaller Class D amps imo, seem to have a lot more "oomph" to them.
Hi Lozz - couldn't have put it better myself Post from Bassix confirms that I did the right thing!
15. Price reduction bump - amp £175, cab £75!!
16.
I had the RM420 and sent it back after one practise, just didn't cut through sufficiently. Got the RM EVO 500 and no such problems, I see you already have one..
Yep, ended up getting the one from Lozz - really pleased with it!
17. Just played Adrian's video - what a massive range of sounds!
18. Sold subject to usual stuff.
19. With an 800W amp on your pedal-board you might need shoes with asbestos soles!
20. Price-reduction bump - now for £60.
21.
But does it go up to elf?
Nein, nur zehn
22.
^^ Oh, and Dave there at GB Music has this one for sale, with 3 more coming in next week...
Just like buses - you wait 6 months for one the 4 turn up at the same time
23. Yes, looks good in white with the wooden pup covers setting off the gold hardware - thru-neck too?!
24. Sorry, should have read the OP properly (brain-fade) - I'm not techie enough to know whether that 2.7ohm setting also accommodates 2 x 4ohm cabs.
25. My Genzler Magellan 800 is switchable down to 2.7ohms to run either 3 x 8ohm cabs (which I do) or 1 x 4ohm + 1 x 8ohm. It's also a blindingly good IMHO and not as expensive in the UK as other popular US amps.
