  1. Afternoon.. I have a very playable and good looking Sire P10dx that I feel needs some tweaking or upgrades. I'm very happy with how the bass feels and plays, I'm just not gelling with the sound. I can get the sound from my Grbass Duel amp by boosting the bass with the deep button ( small boost at 40 and 130 hz ), cutting 450hz and boosting around 1k. The onboard preamp just can't get that sound. I'm thinking of changing the preamp to a Flex Core ( Mike Pope ) that can duplicate the settings on my amp. I would like to duplicate the sound for gigs when I don't need an amp. Has anyone changed the on board preamp on Sire Marcus Miller basses and had a good result. Also while I'm in there might also change the pickups.... Again anyone done this Thanks in advance.
  2. Cream. Very 1970s.
  3. Grbass dual pre for me. https://www.grbass.com/portfolio/dual-pre/
  4. Why are all the best basses for sale never in the UK, ☹️
  5. I can't get the link to work? Now working.🤠
  6. Any Ken Smith 5 string. It would be a total indulgence but so nice to own and play.
  7. My favourite bass of all time. Perfection.
  8. I use this strap......... https://www.thomann.de/gb/levys_leather_bass_strap_45_brn.htm
  9. The best bass in my opinion for a blues rock band would be an EBMM Stingray 4H or 5H. I've got a 1993 5H that I use in a rock band and it cuts effortlessly through a loud mix. Hope this helps.
  10. DR Fat beams on mine.
  11. A very thin piece of card at the body end of the neck pocket should do it.
  12. I've used Darren at.... RetroAmps Unit 1 Lambert building 10 Seale Hayne Newton Abbot TQ12 6NQ 07565162066
  13. Fantastic condition. Lightly used Low gain overdrive. Perfect on bass and guitar. Boxed with bag and stickers. Made in Cornwall.
  14. Which one won.
  15. Due to a change in amp use I'm selling my spare Warwick Gnome Pro 600. Boxed in as New condition. Includes power and USB cable. Bought from Andertons. £265 including UK postage.
  16. The valve with the white top is faulty. There is an air leak. From the web...... White getter on a bad tube VS a healthy tube getter The second thing to look for is the condition of the getter. This is the greyish coating usually found at the top of a tube, but can be on the sides, or both top and sides, depending upon the tube type. Any color from grey/silver, to black is healthy. When a vacuum tube develops an air leak (a small crack or bad seal by a pin for example) this getter color will change to pure white. Hope this helps.

I've just moved from KZ ZS10 pro to.... https://ultimateear.com/product/soundear-pro-music/ They are more natural with better projection in the all important mid frequencies. I found the ZS10 pro to have to much bass and treble for my taste.
  18. Very true. We all forget that to go twice as loud as 100 genuine watts you need 1000w. So the difference between 300 and 500 watts is very small and might not be even heard.
  19. I use a Warwick Gnome head, the 650w version. With the tone controls at noon it has a very scooped and clean sound . A flat frequency can be obtained with a few tweaks to the tone knobs. For a neutral and clean sound with tone controls at noon I would go for the 800w Phil Jones , the blue one.
  20. The difference in loudness between 200w and 300w is minimal. Go for a 500w plus head.
  21. Oh, that's crap. I'm trying to find one at a good price. Will keep looking.
  22. Looks like it's out of stock. ☹️ https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/gibson-non-reverse-thunderbird-bass-inverness-green
  23. It's my favourite amp for a clean transparent sound. Thank you for your great review.
