This brings back memories.

I thought they were out in Middlesex. Definitely southeast England though. Actually i just remembered it was the bass combo i had. Damn, now i have to try and remember what the amp i was thinking about was. Bloody old age lol.

Yeah, the GK wall was amazing back then. I had never seen GK gear before. I got the first 1x12 stereo combo (cant remember the name, made of metal but very small), pile of poo, but looked good lol. I think there were the only dealers of Alligator gear. I loved the green and black look, and the knobs that lit up.

Anyone remember Allbang and Strummit? I remember getting my first GK combo from them, and an Aligator head for keyboards. I really liked that shop. They some good gear high end in there, like ‘real’ Steinbergers. One and only time I played a headless guitar.

Haha. And ill just add, i still don't get the whole ‘roadworn’ fascination with guitars and basses......and now spoons 😂

And plastic for the annoying spoon slappers 😂

Well after experiencing all that as well, I’m with you that you can just get on with it and not let it get to you. Some days it does, others it doesn't. I think I've plateaued to a certain degree. Saying that, having your guitarist watching a bloody football match on his phone during rehearsals is going a bit too far (as was telling us he won’t gig on the nights his team were playing). My band options are limited, in that i dont drive, so I’m pretty much stuck with what i have. Ive been doing it too long, and on here for long enough, to know its not unique to me. Maybe not quite the norm, but norm enough to know i could well end up in a worse situation if I walked.

I had a copy of the first LP signed by the band after a Marquee gig. No idea what happened to it though.

Ah cool. I thought they were a bit more modern. I really like the voice and harmonies. Saw them a few years ago supporting Whitesnake. I thought they blew WS off the stage. Terraplane rings a bell though,.

Are Thunder part of all this? I’m not sure when they first started, i didnt get in to them until quite late.

And it costs nothing to at least get the song in your head so they’re are no ‘you sure we didnt miss a bit out’ moments. This seems to be the biggest issue, rather than notes. Quite often the drummer would tell us ‘I had a quick listen in the car on the way here’.

Cant find a good word to say about any of that family.

I wasnt aware of any of those issues back when i used to go and see them, other than the issue with Schenker and his drinking, but you could tell they were more a pub rock band than IM, who did seem to always be on the next rung up the ladder to success. You can always rely on a band to self destruct just on the verge of making it lol.

Cant argue with that, but isnt that what Rock and roll was all about back then 😎.

UFO were the band that should have had the fame Iron Maiden got....IMO of course.

Yeah, you’d think they would make a point of doing this in their own time and not mine, ive had to do it myself a few times (i put my phone up against the pup, works just as well, and impressed my guitarist when i first did it) just to prove a point. When I’m right it’s ‘well we arent trying to get it exactly like the original’, and yet, they are listening to it.......😂

Yeah, I believe they did, and yes, i had forgotten about those things lol.

When i switched to keys in June i was up and running by Sept, our first rehearsal with the new line up (a new bass player). Me and the Bass player spent a lot of time leaning against the wall while one or two others listened to Spotify on their phones and worked out what they had already been playing for months. I get that some have more free time than others, but when you join a band you are making a commitment to do whats needed.

What put me of Macari’s after I was up and running with music gear was all the brass instruments they had in their window. Wasn’t as cool as the shops with all the guitars and basses so I rarely bothered.

This is pretty much standard for any time though. I’ve always made the effort so that guy isn’t me, and get quite annoyed with others when it’s obvious that I was the only one to give up a lot of my free time, because I actually care.

Wow, i got mine from there are well. Not sure of the year, but i do know it was late 80’s. I then traded it in at Rock Stop for something i cant remember lol,

Didnt know about this until i saw your post, just had a listen. The album reminds me of early Vixen, but less polished (well it was the 80’s). Probably the vocals. Thanks for posting that.
