A fantastic guy to deal with, whoever gets these will be a lucky duck.
Yep, Marks a great guy to deal with and a thoroughly decent bloke. I'd love a Duck Dunn but just cant afford it lol. Good luck.
 2. I only get an hour for lunch each day, my options are to go to Denmark st or order on line for next day delivery (not Thomanns obviously). Maybe i should start supporting the Bass Cellar lol. Supporting your local shop is all well and good, but as Bilbo said, if they dont stock what you want then you have to go elsewhere.
 3.
You've never made a mistake at work? I know I have.
Yep, and i feel an idiot for doing it. I know its not the end of the world but if you consider that time people will spend trying to get through to them only to be told its a mistake, well, i can imagine some people wont be too happy. Oh, and i feel an idiot for starting this thread now. Unsubscribing.
 4.
That's a bit harsh, innit?
Well someone cocked up but yes, ill change it.
 5. Idiots. EDIT: As pointed out, thats a bit strong. Ill aim the comment at the person that put the wrong price on the email flyer, and not Soundslive in general. They should at least issue another one correcting the mistake or pointing it out, IMHO of course.
 6.
Well... some think that.... but the music game is a funny business.... look at Sound Control.... Turnkey.... Arbiter.... Reverb.... to name a few recent demises.
Yeah, i know its not as clear cut as i put it. I used to love Turnkey. Used to spend hours in there when i used to play keyboards. I remember they used to be around the corner, I think they were called the Fender sound house in those days.
 7.
I'm sick of trying to match their prices over the years. There are lots of smaller music shops going under lately.
Its a shame shops are going under but with internet sales so big these days i would have though that the shops could be shut down but the business could still trade on line. Thats the the Bass centre did (love em or hate em). I think companies that change with the times are the ones who will survive. Not that i know anything about running a business.
 8.
Well that's where the Warehouse is reportedly...... so not sure where the shop would be.....
Ah, good point although i would expect them to be in the same building. guess we will find out one day.
 9. I just got an email offering various discounts on telephone orders, this one stood out the most. Not sure how long it will last.
 10.
No.... Somewhere in the North but no-one has confirmed where yet.... The guy that was tasked to run the UK operation, Rupert, was Ex Turnkey but he has since set up his own recording studio. Thats the last I heard.
Cheers. Up north means i'll still need to use their website :-(
 11. when i got my Fender P5 a couple of years ago i looked at all the online websites for shops over here. most were advertising it but non had it in stock. when i called to see if they could get hold of one i was told yes, but i would have to pay up front and couldn't return it (even if i came in to the shop to play it) as it was a special order. 5 shops told me this. To be honest i was pretty annoyed. All we advertising it and non had it marked down as a special order. so much for customer service (no offence Pete and no, i didnt call your shop) All were a bit cheaper than Thomanns but in the end i went with them as they had it in stock. When i had to get Thomanns to order in a second Lakland for me (which they did very quickly, and i still had the first one waiting to go back) there was no issue with sending it back. They even called me to see how i was getting on with both and to take my time deciding what to keep. what a difference. I realise my experience is probably not the norm though but its one that makes me want to deal with them again. sorry, rambling again.
 12.
I believe they have secured warehousing in the UK..... no store front..... YET!
Cool, do you know where in the UK?
 13.
Last week I bought a Rockbag for my T'bird (the hard case is too heavy to schlep everywhere) and a set of Pyramid Gold Flats. As I was winding the 'E' string on to a bass it snapped. Feeling rather miffed (never having snapped an E before) I emailed and asked how I get a replacement for the string. A few days later and they have sent me not one string, not one pack, but two packs of Pyramid Flats (retail value over £60). They didn't want anything back, not the broken E nor the unused A-G strings from the original pack. Now that is fine customer service and should be applauded
This is one reason ive always championed Thommans. Ive never had anything but outstanding CS from them. And thier 30 day no quibble money back guarantee makes me feel safe knowing i can order from them and send it back if i dont like it. Its not something i would intentionally though but when spending a lot of money its nic eot know you wont be out of pocket if you don't like it. The dont seem to be as cheap as they used to be though (i know, its the exchange rate) but they do seem to stock a lot of higher end gear that other shops would have to get in. There was a thread on here last year that said they were thinking about opening a superstore in the UK, i dont think that ever happened.
 14. My Ray34 is my only bass at the moment. I even sold a Lakland after getting this bass. Im no MM expert, ive only ever played one SR4 and that was in a shop, but my Ray34 is working out so well i don't feel the need to spend more. I have changed the pup on mine but to be honest i could have lived with the original one. In fact i think i preferred it. I will get a real one some day i expect, i quite fancy a maple neck or maybe a 2EQ SR, but other than a nicer finished neck i cant see how it would be an improvement. Oh, and i much prefer the Ray34 to the Sub i had for a while...Let the flaming commence lol.
 15.
It gets to you after a while. sh*t gigs wouldn't be so bad if they were closer to home, but it's home gigs you can fill, and gigs further afield you're relying on the promoter for, and obviously we all know about promoters.
Agreed. I was in an originals band years ago and we got a gig at the Fire Staton in Oxford. We had only been together a few months and though "this is it". Off we drove, got there, set up and noticed we were headlining. We had no following, certainly not in Oxford, so no one knew who we were. Luckily there was a support band so we hoped they would fill the place. Ha, they were from right up north, no following and this was their first gig. The bloke running the gig (and i think he might have been running the bar as well) was a quite hacked off that the venue was so empty, even though "i put a poster in the window". Twat.
 16.
Clarky, we played to a 3 peice support band once, it's not too bad.
We did a gig in Stockwell years ago that was so empty (ie, no one) our guitarist too one look at the venue and left the band. Never seen him since. we got the support band (mates of ours) to get up with us, we had a jam for about an hour and then me and the singer (my girlfriend ) went and had sex in the bog while they did some blues thing Not a bad night really although we didnt get paid.
 17.
Reason I ask is that I have a UL212 that I acquired from a BCer last year. I'm wondering if it's your old one.
Ill PM you the details.
 18.
Do you know the serial number of yours?
Yes, ive already given it to the OP. The thing is my cab had two new drivers when i sold it so i doubt its the same one. And it was a couple of years ago now.
 19.
RIO! One of my fravorite basslines.
Same here. Love playing that song.
 20.
The way outlined above doesn't send your bass through the computer at all, which is probably best considering decent audio interfaces with low enough latency can be expensive.
Hmmm, i get 2ms latency (and direct, no latency monitoring) with my M-audio 2496 card. Not a top of the range card but decent audio and it cost about £60.
 21.
I think, since I've always used my sansamp into the desk the PA guys are happier with it than just a DI box as long as I don't drive the bass eq too much and I get a bit of my sounde mix. I'll have a look as the gain as it might be a bit low. I've changed the I use alot less eq on the MB as my new cab doesn't need it. I'll give options a try and let you know on thrusday. I guess I'm trying to carry less gear, but not lose tone for myself and the mix to the front of house Thanks Adrian
Good luck with it. If you do use the XLR out you might want to change a jumper inside that gives yo ua pre EQ signal. This would then allow you to fiddle with the EQ on stage without affecting the signal going to the desk. Unless you have a pre/post EQ switch the amp comes set up to send the EQ'ed signal to the XLR. Although i always just use the XLR out from my MB heads i think if you are used to sending a sansamp tone to the deck you might be better sticking with that anyway. Otherwise it will be quite a flat tone if using the pre EQ out on the amp.
 22.
Hey guys, I thought, I'd actually join as I read everyone comments here all the time. and it's been really helpful. I've noticed that the ouput DI out of the back of my littlemark head seems to be very low. I usually come straight out of my sansamp and use my amp just for my own monitoring, but I like my new cab without the sansamp sometimes. I'm thinking maybe I might need to drive my gain some more, but the sound guy mentioned it was quite low.. good job I had my sansamp still eh... Has anyone noticed this with there's?
How is your input gain set? If this is too low i would expect the level going out of the DI to be low as well. You might need ot turn it up a bit. Get it to where the blue light just flashes on and then back it off a bit. This should give you the optimum signal level. You could also try using the tuner or send out. I believe these give a different signal level to the XLR. The XLR is the only way to get the EQ'ed sound out but a lot of sound guys dont like that anyway. For what its worth i always use a XLR to jack in to the line in on our desk. I find i get a better signal than using the mic (XLR) in.
 23.
I don't have a soundcard with 1/4 jacks that makes it a problem
Then get a 1/4" to 3.5mm adaptor ;-) or a USB interface like the M-audio Fastrack USB interface. Come to think of it, doesn't your H4 act like a USB interface?
 24.
Now up until now I put the songs on my pc and have to use two headphones to hear the bass on one coming from the amp and another one coming from my pc with the song I’m learning. Now I want to be able to use just one, what’s the best way to do it? And cheaper way. I want to be able to mix my bass with my pc so I only need one set of headphones and stop disturbing my OH with the sound of the amp. Any suggestions? Cheers David
Something like guitar rig would do. plug your bass in to your PC, run GR for your bass tone and you can play along to anything using any other software.
 25.
Surely people pay different prices for Precsions, Jazzes, Rays, etc etc. Who knows what a bass is worth? There are so many factors involved. Is there a right price?
I would have said the Subs were pretty much standardised. I know there were passive versions and 5 string versions but im pretty sure if you have two active 4 sting subs they should be worth the same amount (excluding any damage that might effect the value). People pay different prices for P's and jazz's due to them being different. Made in USA, MIM, CAJ, vintage, Squire etc. I do take your point about whats the correct price but i would say you base it on what he majority of sellers are asking for a particular bass. £300 - £400 seems about right to me.
