Battle of the Squier Jazzes: Classic Vibe vs Vintage Modified?
dave_bass5 replied to lanark's topic in Bass Guitars
I also thought they were XL's when i got mine but i was pointed to a large thread on TB explaining what was going on. I look forward to hearing what you think of it as im still very tempted to get one. -
Hi Dave, I have a Sansamp Bass driver, virtually as new, in box, if you'd like to trade. How do I make sure it's a mk 2 ? Best Wishes Mike
Hi Mike. The MKII has the three switches on the top, the old one only has one. Im happy to trade if you do have the MKII and want to but i would like to see what Stephen wants to do first as he asked first.

Battle of the Squier Jazzes: Classic Vibe vs Vintage Modified?
Okay - I summumbed and now have a lovely white CV Jazz on order. MOR Music in York will conduct a full set-up when it arrives and are even going to change the strings to flats for no charge (AND give me the stock strings in case I want to change back to the XLs it comes with). So, for £299 I have a lovely bass a setup that would probably have cost me £30 and a set of strings that would have cost me about £25 too. Take that GAK!
Nice one, im sure you made the right choice. Just be aware those strings are Fenders, not XL's. Made by the same company (D'addario) i believe but they are definitely Fender strings. -
Hi, I have a para driver maybe tradeis, i don't have a use for the para driver as much and us it mainly with the blend control off and set to on board pre-amp when using my jag. Mid at 3.2khz about 1.5 o'clock and bass at 3 o'clock. How much more useful/better is this sadowsky di? Thanks Stephen
Hi Stephen. To be honest I think the sad will be less useful to you. Other than a DI it's more just a active bass and trebble booster. It's not really a tone shaper like the Sansamp stuff. Saying that, it does what it does very nicely, it's like it adds more lows and highs without really changing the tone. Apparently it works best with Jazz basses rather than P basses Not really much more to say about it, although there are lots of people that love it. I just find that I want something that will change my tone more than just enhance it. I'm happy to trade but suggest you have a look around the forums etc and see what other people say about it. I doubt you will find any negatives but it may also not be what your after. I'm in no hurrry so let me know what you think. Cheers.

Both my HW-one and CV Jazz weigh exactly 9lb each without pick guard (im just changing them over). This is according to our electronic bathroom scales with just the bass resting on it.
-
Thanks Steve. I really think i should try one out soon. The neck on my CV Jazz is also quite shallow and much nicer to play than the MIA's i had or even the HW-one. I think if i got a CV P i would probably put the CV Jazz neck on it. I still wouldn't like the colour but im sure i would love the tone. Hmmm, ill earn enough from tomorrows gig to afford one......Damn, GAS.

Battle of the Squier Jazzes: Classic Vibe vs Vintage Modified?
dave_bass5 replied to lanark's topic in Bass Guitars
I got both my basses from Reidys, both in the past couple of months. They do seem rather cheap and great to deal with. -
I've both considered and rejected the Gator version! I need one with shoulder straps, and the Gator one only has the one strap. I can't recall any more reasons, but I remember saying to myself that it was the SKB or nothing.
Yeah, my reasoning was the same, although i went for the one shoulder strap over the rucksack type of straps. Now it sits in a box unused.
-
They do seem to be the cheapest place to get them. Have you considered the Gator version?

Battle of the Squier Jazzes: Classic Vibe vs Vintage Modified?

Yeah, i was looking on Dawsons site this morning. Quite (very) expensive. I paid £249 for my CV Jazz from Soundslive in June. They still have one in stock for £289 I do like the look of the amber VM P with maple neck. Might go for that soon. -

Allen key size for a SUB bridge?
dave_bass5 replied to waynepunkdude's topic in Repairs and Technical
Is this a new Sub or my old one? Dont tell me you brought another one. -
wow, thats bad service on their part, considering how long ago you ordered it. what are you going to do?
-
Nice bass. As i own a CV jazz i can relate to the comments about fit and finish. My CVJ is very well made and put together. Im tempted to get a CV P now but really not too keen on the colours. I do like the VM P though, especially with the maple neck. Steve, how doe the neck feel?

So, I ordered the iRig adaptor today...
Funny you should mention the guestimated delivery times... Gear4Music sent me an order update email last night, which I thought was going to be a despatch notification. In actual fact, it was a "your delivery date has changed" notification.... it's now being delivered on the 9th Sept. Hmm.....
Hmmmm indeed. considering they are saying 7th sept on the website i guess they dont have any in stock at the moment. Not good. -
I finally found somewhere with the iRig in stock today (Gear4Music) and ordered it. Should be here on Thursday, so I was wondering if anyone here has experience with one? From looking at the comparison between the free/LE/full version, the bass amp only comes with the full version, so I guess I'll be replacing my free version with the paid one. Looking forward to having a play with this - the demo videos look very impressive. Tredders
There are already a couple of threads about this, seems like people do have them but im still undecided about getting one (i have the free app already, and have brought the bass amp to go in it) or just using my Korg Pandora. Every time i go to order one from somewhere they seem to be out of stock and i dont order stuff with a guesstimated delivery time these days. In fact i was looking this morning or G4M's website but it said estimated delivery was on 7th sept. Cant see why it should take that long. Let me know how you like it. I know there have been volume level issues with some units. -
Oh yes I agree 100%, I've played some dire "Expensive" basses, the right name on the headstock, but not one once of soul coming out of it. I've been left cold by some top end stuff, and I've been knocked out by basses that cost a couple of hundred quid.
Same here. I got a DJ5 last year, spent money on it and it ended up costing me £1500. I never got on with it form the moment i got it. I got a Squier CV Jazz a few months ago and instantly loved it. For a whiel i never thought i would spend money on another bass, and couldnt see why people spend £1000's on a bit of wood that does the same job. Of course that didnt last long but im still staying in the budget area. I only ever take one bass to gigs, and i prefer not to have basses sitting around that dont get used. I do agree with rotating them though but normally i would have sold the old one before i tire of my new bass. Im probably jinxing myself but so far ive not had any issue with my basses at gigs. Never broke a string or even gone out of tune.

For me the neck is the most important. Saying that, it the playability and how comfortable it is rather than what its made from. I love my Squeir CV Jazz neck and if (more like when)i get a P i intend to put the Squier neck on it at some point. So yes, MIA body and Squier neck would suit me just fine. By the way, my CV Squier neck is one of the nicest ive ever played and wouldn't be adverse to putting it on any other bass if i needed to (and it would fit of course).
For your footswitching requirement you could consider this (tho I don't know at what price. High, I imagine) ; http://www.markbass.it/products.php?lingua...=6&vedi=117
Ah, i was looking for that yesterday but couldn't find it. I remembered i'd seen a pedal with the filters on it ages ago.
Wow - the last time I bought chromes they were £15 - now £29!
Yeah, i was shocked recently when i wanted some. I ended up getting a used set off OHM on here for £18. In the past ive been giving my Chrormes away, thinking ill never use them again but i keep going back to them so im hanging on to this set now, even though i expect ill take them off my Jazz within the next few days.
The amp's been fine, but last gig I hit a big note and off it went. Tripped off, I turned it back on and it was fine.
I think ive mentioned it before but ive experienced this. It was at a rehearsal studio where i was using thier cab. Every time i tried to slap (ok, i know i shouldn't but i was bored) or dig in my SA450 would trip. 3 or 4 times it happened. I plugged in to another cab and it never happened again. It was definitely the cab as afterwards i was told the cab was faulty (cheers for telling me after the event) Ive done around 250 gigs with my two MB heads and never had them trip so i dont think its a bad design as such.
