  1. Thanks for the PR lol. Yes I will get one. To me this pedal does a few things I want, but not too many (like the B3n) that makes me feel I’m undersuing it. It’s not going to be a cure to any problem, but it will definitely have a use. I guess ill wait for a video review or two, just to make sure there isn’t a hidden issue, but on paper its going to be ideal.
  2. GK MB800 fits the bill IMO. Small and very light, 800watt (not sure how loud that really is), and not quite as coloured as i thought it would be before getting it. Probable not as warm compared to some, but through my Vanderkely 1x15 it has a very clear, tight low end.
  3. You can have first refusal lol.
  4. I agree. if you are after just a basic feature set then this thing is definitely a contender Ive looked at other things like the PLEX, and although it offers far more, i dont think its quite as useful for live use, or more its overkill As its listed at $199 i guess its not really unexpected. Its still cheaper than a BDDI and seems to offer a bit more. Ive still got my BDDI and Pork Loin to sell so i can easily afford it.
  5. Hmmm, a bit more than i hoped to pay. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/TC-Electronic-Spectradrive-Bass-Preamp-and-Drive-Pedal/2CHD
  6. I dont need just a headphone amp, i need something like the B3n but smaller, and it can have less features (because i dont use them). If i dont fancy getting the pedal board out ill still have comp and dirt within one box, EQ thats designed for bass, plus speaker sim on the headphone out. For live use, i had planned on turning the AS on and off for clean/dirt, but ive fond i like it so much as a warming effect i may keep it on all the time. Therefore, id need another dirt pedal. With limited space i can take the Spectracomp off the board, and replace it with the Spectradrive. Id get to keep the same comp settings, and and a switchable dirt pedal.....in theory. It also means i have more EQ options on the board, and more importantly with real knobs and not software based. But it is more for home use, and mainly to use without my pedal board. Sometimes its a pain getting that out, as it means more wires across the floor, but i have been doing it more and more because of what son the board. I find the Spectra comp just seems ot work better for me than the ones in the B3n. Its definitely a GAS attack, but one that i can genuinely see a use for. By the way, TC have said it will be available next month, so not a long wait.
  7. I too only have the Spectracomp and Cornoa, and i can see no reason (for me) to ever need to go in to the editor. Its not practical to use it at gigs etc Although its not a match for the B3n as far as patches and FX etc go, my way of using the B3n is to just have it set up with a fairly generic Amp/cab patch, and use my pedal board to supply the tone shaping, alnog with mixing in music or YT from my ipad. Ive always wanted a BDDI type of unit to do this, but without all the extra stuff i dont need. This new TC box seems ideal. I know it wont do proper amp sims, but to be honest a lot of the time i use the B3n in bypass mode anyway, especially when i was using a pedal that did amp sim like the BDDI or VTBass. So, in my case, it seems perfect for my use, and it does seem to tick enough boxes to go on my board at some point. Ive been thinking of using the AS as an always on, so could maybe use the OD in the Spectradrive as an on/off boost, plus replace my Spectracomp, all without adding yet another box to the board.
  8. Seeing as I don’t use the tone editor it’s not a big deal for me. As long as I can get my fav Spectracomp settings beamed to it that’s all I’ll need. I’m sure the OD part is good but I’ll be using my AO for that side of things anyway.
  9. From the manual ’Note that this pedal does not support custom TonePrint creation via the editor software. However, we have provided plenty of meticulously-crafted TonePrints for both TubeDrive and SpectraComp to ensure that you’ll be able to get the sound you’re looking for.
  10. Probably your poor relative lol.
  11. Must admit ive had my Markbass F1 head for as long as I can remember. Although this have a GK MB800 as well its the F1 that gets used.
  12. Well my Aftershock has nailed the coffin shut on my Pork Loin. I cant imagine I’d give up using the Q/strip on my board, but when have any of us kept soemthing that works for too long.
  13. Anytime, although my video experience is quite limited.
  14. Not video, but i have about £7000 worth of camera gear and plan on buying more this year :-(
  15. Oh dear, now the GAS has been turned up a good few notches. I feel i could use only this pedal and not miss any of the others. Ive not experienced TC’s OD/distorting boxes before, but as my needs are always modest and mainstream, i bet this could replace my whole pedal board if i had ot use just one box. In the past my BDDI or VTBass DI has worked well, but lacking a compressor. Not that I need one, but I’m loving what the Spectracomp does to my tone at the moment.
  16. It seems to tick every box i could imagine, other than not being battery powered. Thats understandable though. My pedal board, and ipad in to this is all ill need.
  17. I only really want this to simplify home practice. I’m sure there are cheaper alternatives to my B3n, but so far ive not found something that i feel can replace my B3n. Even though dood almost sold me on the B1on. Bass, combined with camera gear is a GAS heaven.......or hell. You should stop watcing those YT videos lol.
  18. Good man, although in this case i think ill get it anyway. I have the Spectracomp and Q/strip because of your wonderful reviews (im sure there was one or two other things as well). Im glad you dont review camera gear :-)
  19. ive never got in to programming these things (i have a Spectracomp and Corona mini), the software seems very complicated unless you liek that sort of thing, but beaming the ready made tone prints across to them from a phone is very easy. Takes just seconds.
  20. I wasn't having a go, just pointing it out. At least it now has its own post. Cant wait for @dood to review this. I always buy what he reviews lol. This thing might even make it on to my pedal board. I could take off the Spectracomp and replace it with this, so wouldn't loose anything. Damn, its going to be a long wait i expect.
  21. Ive started using my Spectracomp in front of my B3n at home (i dont use the B3n live), and i only use one basic patch on the B3n anyway. Its more the ability to mix in my ipad with my bass/guitar, and feed them both to headphones that i use the B3n for, so this new box seems ideal. I like that it also has a speaker emulator as well. By the way, the official video was in the second link i posted.
  22. Bugger. Just when i thought i was all settled as far as pedals go, this comes along. This might be replacing my Zoom B3n. Aux in, headphones out and tone print enabled. . https://www.tcelectronic.com/Categories/Tcelectronic/Bass/Stompboxes/SPECTRADRIVE/p/P0D9D https://www.musicradar.com/news/tc-electronic-debuts-feature-loaded-ultra-flexible-spectradrive-bass-preamp-and-line-driver-pedal
  23. I think the mods need to gather all the compressor threads and compress them in to one mega thread...........and then lock it
  24. Haha, sorry, i meant Aftershock (AS). i was typing very fast in case my boss caught me :-)
  25. Yeah, you can load in all the AO settings. its just the default sounds that are different, which of course can be overwritten. I was tempted but i really like the colour of the AO.
