  1. I was about to make a mistake for the second time and get another brand. Although i felt the time was right and I would get on a bit more with this cab, @Al Krowvery, very kindly insisted i didnt make the same mistake again, and offered me the F112. I had made an enquiry with Tricky Audio about getting one built, but never heard back (still haven't). Unfortunately AK will never get this cab back, which is a shame considering he waited 4 months for it, and i only waited 4 days 🙂 I love this cab very much. I now understand what others mean when they say it needs a lot of power. Its not a very sensitive cab, and needs the amp turned up a bit more than my previous cabs, but the tone is just 'right'. Seems to love EQ and its the first cab I've owned when small EQ changes can be heard clearly, and when you turn it up the tone doesn't seem to changer much. I think its definitely a better solution over the 310. Oh, and as for Schroeder's 1212L that was mentioned earlier, thats the sledge hammer cab that really doesn't get phased by anything. Second best cab ive ever owned. In fact, maybe joint first. Every the F112 doesnt have the kick that the 1212L has, and its a very handy design. I used to have it upside down so the angled driver would face across the stage. Even my guitarist used to moan he couldn't hear himself. Sorry for the derailment.
  2. Sorry Bas, yes it was aimed at you. I just cant see it working with that 10" driver on the floor. If you cant hear yourself or a band member cant hear you you wont be able to turn up, as the out front will be effected. If you happen to be too loud on stage you cant turn down etc etc.
  3. How you you balance the out front and on stage volume and EQ?
  4. Yes It bloody well could.......🙂
  5. Other than drive and argue, that could well be me in that ad.
  6. Cheers Guys. im pretty sure it should be just a case of loading the saved pre-sets in to the new box, but it would sdprobly only take me 5mins to program the FX anyway. I am looking forward to seeing more visual indication as to whats on. The 3 illuminated switches are fine, but its so hard see the other two at a glance as they are just small coloured blobs. My plan is to have the more noticeable effects on the top row, and keep the most used on the bottom row.
  7. My FX is arriving Monday and i have a rehearsal on Tuesday. Im confident i can manually program the FX with copies of what i have in the Stomp, but wondering if its worth trying to load the Stomp patches in to the FX via the Editor? Its really only two patches and neither have any Amp or Cab sims. Any thought?
  8. Just ordered a Helix FX. As much as the Stomp is working for me i was struggling to see what effects were on or off when controlled by an external foot switch. Lack of LED's and the small screen made it a bit of a distraction. The FX will be better for me on stage. I spent most of the evening at rehearsals using the BDDI sim, just to make sure i can give up the Amp sim, and i can, very easily. using the BDDI sim was like coming home.
  9. I actually do that with an Ampeg sim, but just on a foot switch. Switch off, Drive on 5. Master on 10. Switch on drive on 10, master on 6. Works really well.
  10. I dont want to part with the neck, as its been very handy over the years and probably impossible to come across another. The person i got it from had taken the logo off as he was doing a custom build, but never finished it .I saw the paperwork for the neck though. I wanted something that had the same type of frets as the CV basses, but with a maple fretboard. Its a bit dirty in this shot, as i gigged it almost every weekend for a couple of years.
  11. Ive got one of these as well, along with a CVP Fiesta Red. Got it new when they first came out. Probably the best Jazz ive ever owned, and definitely the best neck ive ever played. In fact the neck has been on a few other basses over the years. Ive brought and sold other Jazz basses, but the CV just seems to get the tone and feel i wanted. Currently mine has Fender CS jazz pups in it, but has had Wizard 74's almost since day one. I also have a Gotoh 201 bridge on it as at one point i had a Lakland JO neck on it (still got the neck somewhere) and needed to raise the saddles (also shimmed). I wanted a maple neck and this was going cheap. Oh, and i have a fully wired control plate that i got from Kigon. Other than the above, its pretty much stock lol.
  12. Actually all this Stomp talk has made me realise i have no need for the SH1. I think ive talked myself out off it now. As for getting a Stomp for the Octave and Syth stuff. I never dreamt I'd be using Octave down, but having it in the Stomp has allowed me to see if it works for me. I'm not giving to get a standalone box, The Stomp is good enough, but its given me yet one more effect I wouldn't have brought. It the box that just keeps on giving lol.
  13. I really dont think anyone is going to buy the SH1 because they have to have that tone and cant already get it. No, they (even I) will buy it because its the next new thing and sounds like a solution to a non existing problem, or just inquisitive. The Stomp is way ahead of what the SH1 can do. The SH-1 is a one trick pony compared to the Stomp. The attraction for me is the simplicity, and size of the SH1. I dont kid myself i cant already get the tones that thing can produce. The Stomp (and other Helix boxes) just need a bit of time and understanding to get the best out of them, and this is something not all of us have. Synths and Octave stuff though, i completely agree with you about.
  14. Cant it be modified with other blocks to make it sound closer? There is a lot of EQ options in the Stomp, as well as IRs and preamp's. Wouldn't the cab used also make a difference?
  15. On the flip side, because of its versatility in the routing and extra foot switches it can take a lot of pedals and add a lot more versatility to them.
  16. Im starting to think the Helix stuff can, at least as far as OD's/Preamp stuff goes.
  17. Yeah, they did all sound quite 'samey' to me, but in a good way. Less Ampeg backed in tone, but still fat and clear and i would say definitely still Tech 21. Of course we all know tone is in the fingers (or pick in my case), and we all have different fingers 🙂
  18. What i like about the SH1 is it seem more like an amp. I loved my VTBass DI, but never quite found it could replace the front end of my amp. It looks like the SH-1 might.
  19. Thats a bugger, and quite a long delivery time as well. I dont think ill be using them. GAK are now showing in stock on their main website, but £399. Im sure someone will buy them at that price.
  20. Yes, i tired that, but I also want to slightly adjust the EQ at the same time, just to give a bit more edge to the driven tone. I'm this close to getting the HX FX, so it's all laid out in front of me, but this evening ive just programmed in the other two 'unique' effects in to one patch. So now i have 5 footswitches controlling 4 unique effects, inc one going between the two BDDI's. This is 99% of what i need for a gig. EDIT: I know i can also set the Treble (for example) to the same foot switch but my way seems easier to tweak.
  21. Just dropping these here. I quite like the Blue Stomp. shame it's just the top part. Apparently Guitar Centre exclusives.
  22. I'm staying away from snapshots, as each patch has Drive/boost, Chorus (in case i want it) and a unique effect like Filter, or Phaser etc. So i need real-time control of those. I like to experiment with when I use the effects.
  23. You could do it with Snapshots. At least I can on my Stomp. Pretty sure you can as well. You can set the on/off function for any block to any foot switch, but Im not sure how you would do 3 setting. For example, I have a BDDI set to on, with little drive, and another block with the same BDDI but a much higher drive (and slightly lower level). I have both set to one foot switch. The patch is saved with the low drive on and the high drive off. Using just one foot switch alternates between the two. Pretty cool feature.
  24. But he wasnt very good, he just made a lot of noise and impressed everyone. A bit like Slapping lol.
  25. Pretty much how i feel about most of the legends. They used what was available at the time, but given the choice who knows what they wouldst have ended up playing. Anyway, not a fan of Jaco's music at all.
