Mine is just the 800watt head, going in to a Fearless F112, not the combo. Agree, we all like different things, lucky my band also hated me using the BB800 😉
-
First rehearsal with my new Fender rumble head. Same room ive been using for months. It was like night and day compared to the BB800. The band noticed it straight away. A lot more authoritative and with a nice low end kick. Filled the room with low end much better than the BB800, and the upper notes had the punch i was told the BB800 would give me, but didn't. Its more coloured, but i think this is what i needed to get the F112 sounding bigger. Still clear, but with a depth to it i hadn't had since my GK. A lot more tone options as well. Horses for courses i guess. I sometimes think playing with a pick brings its own problems that finger style doesn't suffer from.

Nah, its too big and heavy. Everything just fits in my old camera bag, and i do this for a reason. I even gave up using a pedal board for the same reason. Anything larger is automatically off my list. Maybe if i was gigging more regular things might change, but what i have now is more than good enough for all my gigs. ..........😂

Yes, i still have my GKMB800, and that too worked better for me over the BB800. I wanted to get something less coloured than the GK, but still with a usable EQ (so not going direct to the power stage) and the Quilter is definitely flater, but i found it a bit too flat. The Rumble is much more to my liking, being in the middle of the GK punch and the MarkBass warmth. At least, to my ears based on 3 hours at rehearsals.

I own both a Stomp and a Effects, but chose to vote for the Effects as to me its the most suitable, and the one ill use all the time (at least for live and rehearsals). I did briefly look at the LT, but like you i found the lack of Scribble strips a bit of a negative, mainly as i was looking to get the Effects for these.

Its the BC way..... 🙂 Put it this way, its not perfect, but its definitely a step up from my previous heads. In fact the reason i went for the Quilter was for the added punch/thickening on the notes. I never found that, but the Fender has it in spades.

Ive not seen many Rumble 800HD users posting so i took a chance. Happy i did, although it's still early days.

Just got back from my first rehearsal with my Fender Rumble 800HD. Blown away by it. Much better to my ears (and the bands) than the Quilter i had. It has a real kick to it. Low end it big but clear, but it has a low mid punch that ive struggled to get with out heads. As i play with a pick all the time i struggle to get that finger style punch, but tonight it was almost perfect. The tone was more room filling than with the Quilter, which i found to be a bit more neutral, but that wasnt want i really wanted.

Help me choose between Sire V3 vs Yamaha bb435

And means less production lines. With the same colour headstock on all 3 finishes it costs them less to manufacture. -
Ive upped the mix of my Chorus, Filter and Phaser for tonight's rehearsal. ill see how it goes (also with new Fender amp). Im contemplating getting an Expression pedal, but in all honesty i dont know what ill use it for. No need for volume, Filter is hardly used and i prefer the auto type anyway. No other effects need manual control, so im at a loss as to why i want one.....but i want one 🙂

Yep, thats about it. One thing i was happy about with the Stomp was i can use a small external foot switch to give me 5 on/off switches, which worked well except there is no indicator that the other two are on or off, other than if those blocks are lit on the screen. Its a very small screen and i found it hard to tell. This was the main reason i got Effects.

Same. I tend to get a bit of wobble when i raise a foot. 🙂

With the Effects you can do all the adjustments with your feet whilst playing, which i really like.

Help me choose between Sire V3 vs Yamaha bb435

I hated the look of Yamaha's for ages, especially the ones with the plastic silver surrounds, but the latest ones are well thought out and comfortable to play. The preamp on the Sire can be turned off, so you dont need to worry about it, you dotn even need to put batteries in it (if its the same as the V7), but its nice to have IMO. Assuming you are talking about a 5 string V3, I'd say go for whatever you think you will keep picking up. As long as you dont specifically want either a P or Jazz bass tone, either is going to work well. Don’t worry about the specs, a lot of this is nice to have but not necessary. -
Anyone using a Mono Stealth gig bag?
dave_bass5 replied to dave_bass5's topic in Accessories and Misc
That looks like a nice bag. I like my Gator, which is similar, but wanted something thinner, without the walls. I find it strange that none of my Fender style basses fit the neck protector properly. Ive got some thick foam strips arring tomorrow. Should just be thick enough to push the bass up inside the bag so it sits better. -

Right, think I'm going to sell this. ITs really nice, but what's bugging me is the start headstock is just sitting on the neck support, meaning the bass isn't sitting as flush as it should be. Going to try a strip of thick foam in the bottom of the bag first (plenty of room to move the bass up a bit), if not, well i had to give it a go. -
What system is it? I got a second G30 transmitter for £80 from G4M.

Just remember, if this was done at home level you may well find things are different with the band. Might be my imagination but most of the 5 sting bases i see on TV are Jazz type basses. Maybe this is the reason why you dont see a lot of 5 string P's. I dont use my P34 bridge pup much, let alone solo'ed, but i do with my 425. I use it solo'ed all the way through All Right now and My Sharona.
