  1. In hindsight, I should have probably given her a wipe down after the 2 hour getting to know each other session, i spy mucky fingerprints already ..... I could have sworn the one I played had detents in the Eq .... this doesnt ???
  2. They were too busy playing with a status over by the counter ... I just got a ... You gonna buy it then ... They Seemed a bit annoyed when I asked for a printed reciept too .. but I passed an older chap on the owner on the way out who seemed interested in what I bought and if I was happy .
  3. No I didn't , if I'm honest the 2 young guys really didn't seem too interested ... Some jaw dropping stuff on there , I asked about the 79 refin... Sold

  5. Mine Actually wont let me sell my status .. she has grown attached to looking at it on the wall.
  6. Yup , If you like the finish the guitar is excellent, it's not for me though, I went to try a regular ray ... and I figured i'd just try it to if the price bump was worth it MISTAKE ....... I adored the playability and tones ... but the look .... no no no ! It looked like some Ikea Kitchen doors we had when we moved in to our house very 90's ..... " Tropical Manilla" ....... https://photos.app.goo.gl/Vn0MCMS5JCNB3tax1 .... here share my woe.

  8. Hiram ... dont foil my dream/ plans, but yes i doubt ill be holding my breath to find a second hand one . maybe i'll have to look at the seafoam green one ... its preferable to the blonde.
  9. Oof , Mansons i want to support you , you sold me first bass aged 11 but @ £2,339.99 :-S . The label on the in-store butterscotch " Angel delight ?, smoothie was at 1799 but priced 1699 online ....
  10. Yelp I was in Andertons today, trying out some stingrays as im trying to decide if this is where i want to go next ( traditionally a jazz bass guy) as it was rather quiet the chap just said to me, im nipping to lunch help yourself to any of the rays and ill see you in 45 minutes ... So i tried, subs, sterling ray 34's rays classic rays and the old smoothie , holy crap I want this bass ... but I absolutely detested the butterscotch finish ... so it couldn't go home with me , does anyone know where i can find a chocolate burst one, Im considering the green but its a bit loud for me ..
  11. I have an eBay special Unbranded 70 quid Jazz I bought when drunk many years ago because I liked the white and maple, I upgraded the pickups with some Duncan's and a nice Ki0g0n loom, I would put money on it up against any fender passive Jazz bass in a blindfolded playing test. This bass for me kicks the living "profanity" out of my 70's Fender Jazz, I feel more comfortable with it at gigs and rehearsals than with my status and it produce's more volume, has more easily sculptable tones with lots of usable in between settings (I presume because of the better pots Ki0g0n uses ) I've had basses that the tone knob might as well have been a switch. It's naturally more " middy/brighter " because of the full maple neck and fingerboard, I find it it cuts through a mix better ... and because I've played it quite a bit the neck has worn to a nice satin from the high gloss. It could do with a hardware upgrade the unbranded tuners are bog standard but they stay in tune with no issues and the only issue with the bent bit of tin fender style bridge was a bit of saddle buzz which was i solved with a little bit of bluetack between the E and A saddles. At my last audition I was asked what it was .....by some rather guitar obsessed guys ... because it sounds huge, I just called it a self build , I got the gig ;-) Downside .... this bass has its own Gravity well ..... No idea what its made of probably butcher block or lead but it must be close to 12lbs
  12. Pirate studios in either Notting hill or Earlsfield get my bet https://www.piratestudios.co.uk/

  15. Well in that case its in the hand holding the pick , and the big muff ;-)
  16. I find I tend not to worry about touching my amp, I used to worry a lot about trying to get the right tone for each song, found i was tap dancing / knob twiddling too much on songs. Which was counter productive as you want no more than 3-4 seconds between songs. My setlist is pretty varied but my method is as follows. I use a passive J so perhaps for your gig's keep it simple and go for a bass mid and treble all on the zero or / centre detente just change your sound with pickup blend. 1. Find a good tone for the stage/play area and set my amp a little louder than I need. 2. Roll my pickups to about 70% , along with my tone to about 50% , this is my default rock tone, i use a 70's spaced Jazz so its a bit clankier than most. also i've got a bit of easy headroom for when the guitarists seem to creep a bit higher 3. Use effects only on songs that REALLY need them, uptown funk, ( synth part) 4 Otherwise just adjust my pickup balance ( volume controls for me) / play position or technique pick , fingers or for motown stuff i've even been known to thumb pluck palm mute
  17. I've always been amazed how well our cover of, Animal Nitrate goes down, same with Inbetween days by the cure. But for some real oddball's A few years ago we did a Disney themed costume company, Christmas party and played, Punked up versions of some Disney songs, frozen had just been released so we dragged up all the Elsa dressed staff , for a cover of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U56r4KaaBEc . There's also a great video of me holding my T-bird vertically and playing ... I wanna be like you then dancing around like a monkey * even funnier because I was dressed as Captain hook with the reason of the band all dressed as characters from Peter Pan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD8gS--6VgY It was based on this version but a little closer to the original in feel ... No your not going to get the vid ;-) Covers to fit the mood / party / I think we've got a rule of trying to do a learn one new song each time we do a gig , keeps it feeling fresh.
  18. Thank you so much, I'm basically after an expansion cab to use for some outdoor gigs which I have coming up, I previously used to have a huge old trace 1x15 leftover from my trace stack which i'd stick on floor front of house and use the markbass for me , sadly I sold it on when i bought a daft car that it didnt fit in the boot of. I see you also have an Ny1X15 , i have been looking at how silly the 121p would look on top of that , rather than pay for a ny121 , i didn't even know this 1x6 existed .
  19. Hey matt , you say in your sig you have a markbass 12 inch combo ... I assuming thats a CMD121P , does this cab fit underneath the 12 inch combo , and look sensible. if so this could be just what im after to beef mine up Regards lyle
