I do have one tip - pay attention to your timing when using two. I found I drop into swing when starting with index, but I'm solid if I start with middle.

No, I'm not attempting to trade in my kids for a nice jazz bass Can anyone who has had a seven year old (medium size) take up guitar at school advise whether it should be nylon, steel or other , and what size body I should look for ? Thanks

I'd seek advice, even if only for the luthier or helpful BC member to reassure you that you're on the right track. I've never needed to change string gauge and I once bought a jazz that would take a 747 under the strings from the bass player in Morcheeba. I got that colossal bow out by very slowly adding tension over many, many days. its made of wood and you need to take it slowly.By the time that careful process was over, it was happily wearing 45-110 rounds with a low action.

Fionn, I don't think bass direct have been too naughty here, their pricing is optimistic as they know a buyer will haggle and they have to service, restring, fund the bass until it sells as well as pay staff, rates, bills, vat I have bought stuff cheaply all over and sold it on at market rates if I don't like it. People on here won't buy it if it's over priced and sometimes not even then; I have children to feed and so if a small profit is made then I give it to them in some form.

I'm really calm about it now - maybe I'm strange Probably helps that my playing bass along badly turns two weedy acoustics into a full band sound and the crowd go nuts just because it's a bit of variety
