2. Bluesy / Southern rock band (female singer, guitar, drums and keys) looking for a bass player. Mix of covers and originals.
3. I get them from feline guitars - either direct or via ebay.
4. I mainly gig with my GK so the marshall hasn't been out of the house for a long time. It's an early 80's jcm800 bass series. I've just had a tech check it over in case I started gigging it again and it needed any work but I'm debating parting with it. Any ideas on the value? I can't see them going up in price like some old marshalls but I might be wrong there. I think they are very cool but I suspect the majority of people have moved over to class D tiny amps these days.
5. I'd lose it. Recent events have brought the connotations and history of that flag more obvious so if you haven't been aware of the issue you are now and so will be more people in the audience. You mentioned that no one had made any negative comments in the past - it's very possible that you mean they haven't said anything you are aware of - there could very easily have been people who think less of the band for it but just don't attend shows and don't comment. It's quite possible that any bookings you didn't get are linked to it but they gave different reasons rather than get into a debate.
6.
Hey, John P, what's the pinkish paisley patterned pedal (ooh, check out Mr Alliteration) just right of centre in that pic? Looks dead cool A
Thanks, It's a keeley compressor - gc2. They did a limited edition in paisley and I saw a cheap one so I took a gamble on it after reading a few reviews that the guitar and bass versions are very similar and I can move it over to my guitar board if I decide on a change. I did two gigs last weekend and I'm very happy with the new setup - the comp is easy to dial in with the led to show gain reduction and the vt is great for adding a bit of grit when needed.
7. No problem, I was looking for a similar bag for all my cables when I'm hiring out PA gear. If you get one I'd very interested to know what you think of the quality.
8. Is this too big? 9. I had a dep gig. Pub band playing fairly locally, standard tunes - Town called Malice, Brightside etc with a few less common tunes like Highway star. Wasn't packed but a fun atmosphere and we were pretty tight considering we hadn't rehearsed together. Loud though - I only too a GK mb212 combo and had it over halfway with everything the PA as well. Fun night and looking forward to playing with them again in a few weeks.
10. Thanks. I'm waiting on a chap with a Cal76 but at home the Keeley sounds great so I'm happy. Proper test with the gigs this weekend.
11. Quick update. I saw a couple of deals for a vtdi and a keeley compressor so I've made a board with separates for less than a flyrig would have cost.

13. Does anyone here use one? I know they sound good with guitars but compared to a helix or axefx they don't seem to get mentioned for bass.
14. Cheers guys - I'd love the big Cali76 but finding one looks a bit harder than I thought, I've seen some cheap keeley two knob and gc2 pedals so I'll probably try one of those first. I have an old boss ce2 I might try but I suspect it won't be as good with bass as it is on guitar. Any thoughts on the vt bass and a di box vs the vt bass Di?
15. ^ Thanks, that looks a cool setup with plenty of options. I'd rather buy quality than feel the need to upgrade and I don't need anything whacky so I'm leaning more towards separate pedals at the moment - probably a tech21 vt, a keeley or cali76 and a chorus would do everything I need for the gigs I do - mostly deps with rock covers or soul/pop functions.
16. Just debating my options for a small gigging board vs a flyrig. I'd like: a di / pre as a backup for amp problems (hopefully not needed) A touch of grit/ low mid gain compression chorus If the compressor works well with guitar that would be a bonus. I could just get a flyrig to cover all of this in one box and I have a guitar flyrig that is a great back up. or I I have a spare polytune and pedaltrain metro16 that could be used so i could add a tech21 vt, a keeley or Cali comp and a chorus and probably spend similar ish money. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
17.
Hi, I'm looking into loud, lightweight combos and like the look of the MB 212, I'm not near any shops so was wondering how these combos handle the low B on an active V string? Cheers.
I don't play a 5 but I do use a GK 212 combo and love it - amazingly lightweight and tons of volume - you'd have to try it to be totally sure but I can't imagine it struggling.
18. Great choice. I use the GK and love the sound, volume and weight - perfect gigging amp imo

20.
Hi John_P, No 'cheeky' about it. I'll happily service your set free of charge. No problem at all. We've got over 1,700 sets in the field over two years now and I've repaired around ten transmitters. Nearly all impact damage. Regards Chris
Hi Chris, I hope my comment was taken in the way intended- I was curious if anyone else had similar issues rather than wanting to criticise - I still think it's a great sound with great features and the service and support is brilliant. I do feel it would be cheeky asking for another repair after you kindly fixed it the first time, but I might take you up on that offer as aside from my clumsiness it still looks a better unit than anything from the competition.
21. I use a GK mb2x12 combo. Weighs next to nothing and throws out a ton of sound with a pretty flexible eq. Brilliant little amp.
22. Chris was really helpful the first time it fell apart and 10 months later I don't want to be cheeky. I'm sure it's more a reflection on my use - just curious if I was the only one. I'll buy a wireless with a body pack rather than a bug to replace it - but I do like the sound and features of the SH.
23. Anyone had issues with the construction at all? Mine feel apart last year after about 6 months use and they very quickly rebuilt it but it's coming loose again now so I'm wary of using it. The section where the jack hinges seems to gradually separate and feel loose. I gig a lot and I'm quite active on stage so wonder if I'm just being too rough or unlucky?
24.
I used to have both of those Silver Jubilee cabs many years ago. They were not that heavy, but obviously not as light as a lot of gear you can get today. it depends what you want and what you're prepared to shift at the end of the night. Personally I wouldn't touch a TC combo with a bargepole, but it might well work for you. If you are not bothered about super lightweight gear there are lots of great old American built SWR amps going for a song!
Can I ask a bit more about your opinion of the TC gear? I thought it had a decent reputation now, early models might not have been reliable and while it isn't the most exciting I thought it looked really good value?
