1.
Just sold Nige my Fender SKB Hardcase. We`ve met a few times at gigs and Nige is a great guy. We met at a motorway service station to do the deal, which was halfway between us. He brought his prized `83 Jazz along to make sure that the case would fit and let me have a go on it - very nice indeed. Deal in confidence. Couldn`t find an existing thread - does this mean Nige has managed to get to 9000+ posts without GAS?
Thanks mate, I love the case! Thanks for starting this thread. I do indeed have a feedback thread but its under my old user name silddx http://basschat.co.uk/topic/45741-feedback-for-silddx/page__hl__silddx Thanks again Lozz x
 2.
Yeah, it gives pleasure and gets you all excited !!
No it's 'MUTUAL', not 'Musical' that does that

 4. It's dedicated to, and inspired by, his dead brother, Baz Dunnery, who played guitar in for Ozzy for a short while. There's his video of one song on his website http://www.francisdunnery.com I really love it, great music from a truly passionate musician.
 5.
Show me one post where I called people any names (no less dumb shits) for disagreeing with me and I'll write you a check for $10,000. If not, you may want to just keep quiet.
Ok mate, sorry, I was a bit out of order and I apologise. I do think you are aggressive in your assertions, and dismissive of others' views if they don't agree with you, but nevertheless I'm sorry for being a dick, I came over all unnecessary. x
 6. Mention 'jazz' to people and, aside from a few who like it, the reactions seem to be very negative, some even hostile. People don't react like this to 'classical' music do they? So why is jazz the recipient of so much unfair stereotyping and derision? Or is it? Mention 'metal' or 'hip hop' to a lot of people and they might react similarly.
 7.
You're just confusing a lack of comprehension with absence of merit. Work on it. : )
I certainly comprehend your posting bollocks as fact, and subsequently telling people they are dumb shits when they challenge you
 8. Digital effects are crap, always buy analogue. Total crap that I believed for a long time.
 9.
Why did she do that when she's got backing vocalists there who would have sounded far better singing the harmony?
Because that's they way she wanted to do it, it's sounds totally different to backing vocals, it has artistic expression, and clearly the band enjoyed the vocal gymnastics. In fact that band seem to enjoy gymnastics more than music half the time, but without their instrumental prowess it would be a bloody boring band.
 10. Oh god that's awful mate, poor guy.
 11.
Ah, admit it, you may not LIKE what I say, but you know I'm right ..and that's what you don't like about it. lol And yes, David Lee Roth, James Brown, Mariah Carey -- it's a quirky ability that's cool for 3 seconds out of the night. My fav is @ 2:41 of this song. Not quite as clean as the others but absolutely killer.
No, I often think you talk a lot of old bollocks
 12. I agree with you. Most bassists don't understand and develop the techniques and emotional requirements of soloing. And the ones who do, especially in jazz, often transcribe and learn John Coltrane licks, so they all sound the bloody same anyway. It's boring and very unmusical most of the time.
 13.
Agreed. Great vocal technique, a groovin' band but a song with a dreadful melody and embarrassingly bad lyrics.
I don't often agree with what you say, but I do this time
 14. I'm not a fan really, but yes, it's very difficult producing two tones at the same time vocally, it's called overtone singing. Nepalese throat singers do it all the time. And so did David Lee Roth.
 15. Oh dear, Kit is really sick so we can't play today, really sorry to anyone who was coming to see us Nx
 16.
Just put LaBella flats on, Whoa, hold me down!!!!!!!!!!!!! This bass makes the walls shake
Awesome!!
 17.
Last time you did this (exactly one year ago) I got burgled the preceding night and spent your entire gig dealing with Scene Of Crime officers in my studio ... do you think I should come this year?
Oh gosh, I remember that well Jack. Why not get burgled tonight instead so you can have a busy-free Saturday
 18.
You mean like... facebook or the bands website I think it would be a better idea to promote bands getting discovered than just promote the bands people already know about
By that reasoning you could shelve Basschat by saying, 'you mean like... talkbass?' We are talking about a Basschat-specific repository for members' band information all in one place, with all the bands in one place. It's not like Facebook or a website, because it's within a niche community, not out there in the worldwide 'community'.
 19. Oh gawd, I don't dig that colour, but on that it looks fantastic. Great restoration thread so far!
 20.
Very stylish. If you use the Pyramid Black Nylons then you'll get gold silks to match your lion. Nice.
I wish I'd known that. However, the LaBellas have purple silks I think which may add some nice contrast, and look more utilitarian than looking like I selected strings to match, which I did anyway more or less
 21. We are playing this Saturday 19 Oct at The Old Packhorse (NOT the Packhorse & Talbot) on Chiswick High Road. On at 6pm. http://oxjamchiswick.co.uk/
 22.
No, I don't think the Gigs forum and its live (NB - live) photos and vids should have anything to do with the Recording forum. If we really want to create one single repository for each band's "stuff", be that released tracks, promo videos, professional photos or live stuff, then the only solution would be to mix the two forums together in one big confusing jumble. I'm firmly against that.
How about a separate forum in the Performance Section called Basschat Members' Bands or summat. No need to even pin them. Just a list of BC members' bands, created and controlled by the members themselves, they can sling everything in there.
 23.
Sorry to be a pain but I just want to fit them correctly. My bass came with them already fitted.... in the wrong place! When the new body arrives I want them to be exactly right. Thanks folks.
Talk to Uncle Horrid (The Bass Doc). He's an expert. http://basschat.co.uk/user/4905-the-bass-doc/
 24. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think most BC members would rather talk about music than listen to it. If they do listen it seems to me to be they want to learn something rather than enjoy the music. I also think there is possibly a general cynicism that they are probably not going to like what they hear. There is some really great music on BC though, some really great bands that I have bought albums and EPs from, and seen live. I think having product - promo vids, singles/EPs/albums, merch, etc - somehow induces trust in quality and therefore may induce a click. So I think a subforum for BC members with products to promote would be good. I think a subforum for BC members bands would be a good alternative to the above promo subforum though. It would be a bit like what Silvia has pinned for each band, but I think they currently get in the way of the gig forum thread listings, so a sub forum would be best IMO. I love the mix and composition challenges, we all learn from them. Other than that, I don't see how it's possible to change the slightly apathetic BC culture towards its members' music easily. I do think people are very reticent to post critically about another member's band, it may feel too personal for some, and that may be part of the problem. I have done and have had a few monkeys jump on my back and slap me about for being too critical, even though I was being constructive. So there could be some sort of guidance regarding that aspect - if you post a number, you should not expect people to be all cuddly, and that criticism should be expected and valued too. That may encourage people to listen because they know they can post even if they didn't like the music, or felt it was lacking in some regard. Having said all that, I do believe there is much hope for the expansion and patronage of the Recording Forum
 25.
Hello everyone I know I am a bit dense when it comes to new things but I do need help with this one. I have just bought a lovely Ibanez SR500 off the forum. It is a bit too crisp for me as it is. Is it okay to put a nice set of flats on it or will this just take away the character or the bass. I love the bass but prefer a more old school heavy sound. All advice gratefully accepted. Thank you Mike(Pestie)
Mike, do what you want mate, you're the character, the bass is your tool. I'm putting black nylon tapewound on my new active Jaguar
