I'm well made up with all your lovely comments, I'm really pleased with the bass. But the frets need a proper level, a couple are proud on the treble side. It's a nice neck but the £75 price is reflected in the workmanship.

I gave it about 6 coats of acrylic gloss lacquer (same stuff I used for the headstock). It is Chestnut brand from the very excellent Rothko and Frost who also supplied the decal. The black paint is Plastikote acrylic 'hobby' paint, matt black. I'm not sure why the gloss clear coat became matt but I'm glad it did because I wanted some contrast from the body paint and was going to flat it to a satin finish. It seems like a good durable finish.

Some better pics. I went with a Hipshot A Bridge, it's what I really wanted. I love the Hipshot lollies! La Bella Black Nylon Tapewound strings. I think the frets need levelling which I'll do later. I'm really pleased with it, looks just like I imagined it would

I don't know very much about PA systems but being a delighted Line 6 user I thought I would chime in. This new Line 6 PA system seems to be getting very good reviews in terms of sound quality, versatility and portability. I'm pretty sure that putting a PA BEHIND the band is a recipe for disaster though. I may be wrong but perhaps the graphical Stagescape mixing solution would help you as it makes it possible to mix effectively even if you are like me and don't know much about setting a PA up properly, which requires sound and acoustic engineering knowledge and experience.

Great stuff, I had a hard choice between two of them. Voted for the one that moved me the most.

Used to love DR Black Beauties, then I started getting problems, dead Gs in four sets despite replacements from DR, and the new coating wore off really quickly. The Elixirs I tried were rubbery and flaky with an uninspiring tone and feel. Awful. Then I tried Cleartone EMPs, I LOVE them! They are warm, deep and snarly, lovely compliance, last for ages and no wear to the 1 micron coating in six months.
