1. I definitely recognise those tuners, can't remember from what though. EDIT: Shaftsbury? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/64502-shaftesbury-rickenbacker-bass-copies/
 2. SHUSHHHHHHHHHHHHH Mr Hall is watching!
 3.
Mr grumpy, Nige! Ignore silddx, George, he is in a bad mood (see his thread about post gig depression). Whatever makes you happy, mate!
And, of course, if they make you happy that's wonderful. I do think the 4001 is one of the most beautiful looking basses around.
 4. BTW, RIC is the company, I believe one is to refer to the instruments as 'Rickies'. My mate collects them but I can't stand them myself. Enjoy yours
 5. No, I don't have the tim or money for that sh*t any more, it's cost me a lot of both. I have my chrome Warwick Streamer, the ultimate GAS killer. I just play now.
 6. I can't imagine what his family and friends are going through, it's bad enough when your cat goes missing. They must be going through a living hell. Dreadful.
 7.
Undoubtedly - however, I suspect I have heard a shedload of stuff he hasn't!
Great riposte! I actually thought Geddy's choices were mundane for the most part.
 8. Not sure if it's 'selfish', but it's definitely misguided. There is success, and success. To be a successful musician, for me, means that you are expressing yourself and enjoying it. The money and recognition is one thing (rare anyway), but it is no substitute for musical happiness, it's just a job otherwise. You may have felt good for a little while playing with them on bigger gigs and getting recognition, but you'll probably have fallen apart at some point.
 9. From LushFest 2012 yesterday, playing guitar with sitarist Sheema Mukherjee. You may enjoy the dancers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH3uJc8K8qg
 10.
What does he have, apart from the Fodera AJ, Dingwalls and Rob Allens?
Pretty much everything else, except Rickies and Gibbos
 11. Totally cool! Remind me where Flea lives Devizes?
 12.
Fair doo's, but I guess it get's my goat when folk take the piss after he's taken the effort to show it us, laid bare his soul and all that. I did say "some" people tho'. Anyway
I completely agree. My hackles rose at some of the childish comments too.
 13.
Guys, It's a bit much when someone comes on here to show us all a very nicely put together hand made Bass and all some people can do is take the piss for using a truss rod cover from something else and of the shelf pick ups. Yann....dude, I wish I had a quarter of your skill mate. As far as racism towards the Greeks goes I'm pretty sure you won't find any on here....thankfully Some people seem to want to find Kudos in taking the piss but hey, the majority on here have the capacity to and will admire what you have done. Beautiful looking Bass there !!
Hang on old son, only a couple of people did that, it's turned into a very interesting thread as it happens.
 14. Wot you reckon to this?
 15.
Is this issue still on sale ? I will check out the newsagent when I get a second
It's just come out mate.
Here you go :-) CB
Are you Paul Raymond?
 17. I just got it, thanks for the tip. It's a great issue. Interview with Geddy, Dave Swift's amazing collection, reviews of the new Fender STD Strat and Precision, and a reverse Jag with upside down headstock, and a raft of other interesting stuff. It's always been a good mag, but now it's great. I think this is how a musician's magazine should be, it makes BGM look a bit ridiculous to be honest but hopefully Joel McIver will up their game. The content is well written and there is LOTS of it, the reviews are short but excellent, and there's so much to the whole mag, definitely a 14 sh*tt*r, I can get through BGM in 4 or 5.
 18.
Nice avatar. Looks like my dad. Regarding your comments, I think the politest thing I can say is that I feel the same way about them, as you do about 'the Entwistle stuff'. It seems highly unlikely we are going to agree on much so I suggest we leave it there and move on. All the best to you and Garey
Arsey git
 19.
I think it is the angle of the pic - I just took a look at it and it's all straight and true. It's a lovely bass and has a great tone - perhaps dots make it interesting.. :-)
I'm glad for you it's just the angle. You know something, dot and bound is unusual, rarely seen, and although a good block and bound is one of my favourite things, I love the look of dot and bound, I think it's really beautiful.
 20.
Haha, i know what your thinking but its just a beautiful bass mahn, take a look at it and tell me you wouldnt own that the problem i had with 5 strings is that i never had much use for it with not being in a band and some basses always had a sloppy B than something tight and defined that i find with string thru's and longer scale necks. Fretless? i've only ever had one, being a squier and i only sold it soon after owning it for urgent funds but it would be something i'd learn and play some day, if not an EUB. I've always been a Pbass player at heart, my first bass being one and a 5 string version would be the ultimate dream for but i don't think Fenders are worth the price no longer in comparison to other big named brands (Dingwall, Mike Lull, etc) but yet again, all down to funds. BSB
You'd go off it in 17 weeks and sell it. You have been seduced by a picture. What happens when you see a four string fretted one in the same finish? You sell the fretless five to a BCer, take a £500 hit, and skint yerself. Again. You're a knob. Just like I used to be
 21.
I see what you mean... but is that not just the angle that the pic is taken from?
I don't think so. But you could be right
 22. Well, firstly, Fender instruments are almost made to be customised so do what you like with it. Also, I use the stick on vinyl blocks and they have fooled everyone I've shown them too, including some eminent BCers, so don't diss them before you've seen them. However the main issue with your bass is the fact the strings are not aligned correctly, you have the classic Fender three bolt crap neck pocket where the neck is slightly angled to one side so the G is almost hanging off the neck and the E is half an inch in. I think I'd get that sorted before anything else.
 23. Thanks Si Shame you can't make it, but Brighton is a long way really.
 24. I have had a few problems in the past in bands, but the vast majority have been very reliable. However, the sh*t people were all in the amateur bands, the pro bands I play in are unstintingly reliable and nice people to be around. The only recent problems have been with a very flaky couple of violinists, they were unceremoniously ditched after two chances. Unreliable musicians are simply not tolerated in any of the bands I play in.
