Amazing player , if you saw him playing down your local rose and crown you would most likely be lovin his groves , but yes him being popular does seem to make sense , we hate it when our friends become successful !
It all seems so unfair doesn't it

Pete, he's fabulous. It's so churlish to knock him. But that's what people are like mate.
Maybe putting them in the magazine would make people interested in them?
They already are, albeit in a much smaller way than Geddy, Flea, Mark King or Alain Caron.
One of the biggest problems I find in bass guitar magazines is that the same bass players are interviewed all the time. Usually either virtuoso's or bassists in large bands. I would like to see some more "Alternative" bassists being interviewed. Such as Wilhelm Screams bass player Brian J Robinson (Who is definitely no slouch).
Wouldn't it be nice if people were actually interested in these bassists and bought the magazine.
hi everyone just wanted to say what a great service john east gave my pre amp .very good guy thought i may get a very expensive bill but very very cheap thanks john
He's an absolute gent isn't he! And I love his work. I'm after another U-Retro at the moment, but it will have to wait. He's a BC member too and has a thread in the Affiliates forum.
Just for fun, here's a link to one of the things we mucked about with, it just kind of 'happened' as these things do.... It is just jamming along together, zero structure, or form, or chord sequence, and we are rather rusty, but it was so much fun! http://soundcloud.co...track-7/s-T7TIC
That'll sound cool when you've all tightened up a bit, nice one!
I've just bagged a lefty B2A, amazing quality and the tone is better than my Status S2, IMO.
I had one until recently, A B2ADB, it had massive low end, and a very good overall tone. You can hear it on this http://soundcloud.com/silddx/bads-tabla-1-master-21-may

An indispensable guide. Cheers.
+1 again. It could be expanded to an every-now-and-again feature where basses battle it out. And of course don't leave it to fender clones, what about Stingray-alikes and Rickenfakers? Also, I think that reviews or buying guides to peripherals related to recording and live sound would be interesting. Things like wireless systems, IEM, DI boxes, bass friendly audio interfaces etc. The likes of Sound on sound would review this stuff every now and again but they are rarely for bass. Of course this is something that a lot of people couldn't care less about, but touching on it sparingly would be useful, and the back-catalog that you build up would become a useful reference (esp. good for driving people to your website )
The Rickenfakers test will go down like a lead walrus mate
If a fault in the amp made the case live, the current would flow through the earth wire and blow a fuse. If said earth wire was missing, it would attempt to flow through an alternative path, usually the drummer's dick...in which case the RCD would detect the difference between current flowing into Live and out of Neutral and switch the amp off. So the drummer's dick would only be excited for a few milliseconds and be perfectly fine for its usual aprés-gig entertainment.
Thank you

That's wonderful Si! Really pleased for you mate. Keep us informed. What about vocal?
-
I don't understand the reference to the transformer...? do you mean the transformer in the amp, ie the amp itself could stick its HT down the guitar lead? Extremely unlikely but yes an RCD wouldn't prevent this.
I can't understand it either, unless there's a fault in the amp that makes the case live?
The Spirits and Hohners are the same, roll off the same line in Korea andget a different badge before laquering. .The early Spirits got a phenolic board, while Hohners had active models
Are you ABSOLUTELY SURE about this?
-
It would, but the idea is to test the mains outlet BEFORE you plug anything into it. Saving damage to equipment. The RCD will be reducing your risk of electric shock. You can still get shocks off gear from after the transformer. Ie mike to guitar even with RCD fitted. Hopefully they're lowish voltage.
There are different types of RCD. Some fitted to the supply, some are plug adapters you plug your kit into, after plugging the adapter into the wall supply which protect you from your own gear, or prtect the gear itself. They won't stop you getting a shock but they minimise the effects of the shock. They are not a substitute for correct fuses.
Thats not good, regarding the TT, very poor form. First one I've seen like that, though. And the TT you have to calibrate every string change anyway. With regard to Hohner / Spirit,, compared to the real thing, they're just so lacking in tone, due to the lack of mass, for one. Probably hyperbole of me to say "toy", but to a degree, is tand by the comment. i've had so many of them, and they were OK.
Spirit was sh*t, but the Hohners have great tone, both the paddles and the Jacks. I've had a bunch of them too.
-
Lots of people think they've tried a Steinberger, particularly on this small island, and have actually tried a wooden knockoff, which were toys at best.
Regarding the Hohners, they are excellent instruments, not toys, the Steinbergers from China are closer to toy status. The Gibson Steinberger I tried last year (a transtrem guitar) was very poor, appaling in fact, the head piece was misaligned on the neck by 2mm, awful set up, TT not calibrated properly, poor finishing. Sorry to go OT for a sec.

FFS! This is health and safety gone f***ing mad. It's only a bit of electricity, and musicians are used to taking risks.
