Update: I have two of the RS210s on order now. I have ordered the new black shiny finish so it might be a few months yet. I was going to get the RS212 + RS210, but I wanted to stick to tens with this rig for now...and have the 'small slim 4x10' thing going on
-
Hey Can anyone recommend a nice trolley that can be folded up? It is to transport cabs around...only really my Orange gear. Max load would be 100lbs approx. Thanks
-
I have just ordered the new smooth shiny black finish RS210s, (x2). I was going to get an RS212+210, but the 210 seems to get the most praise, and I wanted a small setup. Going to be a bit of a wait as TC havent got the 210s in that finish in the UK yet....but I dont mind

I really like the NY121 and the small MB cabs...I tried a normal size 1x15 and wasnt that keen. But, please bear in mind that I STILL prefer ceramic no matter what at the moment. Ive tested about 5-6 different manufacturers of neo cabs, and it just wasnt 100% for me. VERY close with Berg and Tecamp, but not QUITE the ceramic thump. I love the MB amps, and I do like their combos/small cabs. The NY121 is fantastic for its size.

I would be wary of prices in some normal stores. I got quoted more than £100 more for a new American Series Fender Jazz in a store in Yorkshire. They would match and then they lost the sale. Make sure they realise you know the normal prices. Do some google searches for best prices.

I havent taken any photos of my amp yet, and ill be waiting for the RS210s for a while in the new finish, but lets get this thread going

Oh, and the 78 P looks like its in great condition

The Jazzmaster is very pretty. That 75 Reissue looks stunning. Do the USA maple board versions have those lovely pearly white inlays or black? They look very nice like that.
Where can said TC 2x10's be purchased?
Ive now seen them for £370! But id make sure you specify the new shiny black finish....might be a wait though. http://www.dv247.com/guitars/tc-electronic...et-rs210--61535 Two of them for £740 is, IMO, a bargain. Very punchy cabinets and has the ceramic thump, but still only around 46lbs. Plus, its like a mini light 8x10 if you have them vertical! The HF seemed very sweet when I had a fiddle, which is what Im looking for. Ive had some cabinets (none that I own at the moment) where the tweeter was way too harsh and hissy. The TC HF was more akin to the nice smooth Aguilar Tweet....
TC Now make a 4 x 10 cab... http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~T...10~ID~11826.asp Maybe that would be to your liking.
If I was one of their artist, Id go for two RS410s and one RS212, just because you can power all three cabs with one amp. But...Im on a similar hunt, but for a portable version of a 4x10. I MUST NOT get another mid sized cab, ahahaha, so this time, im opting for two RS210s. I am putting them on order soon, but waiting for the new smooth black Bergantino-type finish....so might not be with me for a few months.

IMO, thats a fantastic budget. Nipping nearer to £1000 will definitely get you some of my personal favourite basses. The classic bodyshapes/sounds are Musicman Stingray, Fender Precision, Fender Jazz. The Stingray new might be more than £1K now, but you can pick up a P/J from the much improved Fender American Series for about £850...more if you go with sunburst. If you want something with a smaller bodyshape, a little more modern, check Warwick and Spector. Lakland make some very nice Fender/Stingray type basses, with brilliant build. They are not US made, but they are up there with the high end basses for finish, etc. Dont let it put you off that they are not US made. IMO, the Lakland 5 strings are the easiest/most comfortable 5 string basses to play out there.
will do. does the no di become a pain? im guessing not just get a good di box? andy
With amps like this....I would always get it mic'd anyway....sounds much better. Most sound guys probably dont have good quality mics, so you can use a Tech 21 Sansamp BDDI if you need a nice warm valvey tone to the PA. As yet....Ive not had any issues. But, if I had the choice I'd always get the speakers mic'd.
Hi, I've been playing the bass for many many years (on a Fender fretless, a 70s black beauty), but have never really owned serious gear cos of many reasons (and generous friends). Recently I went looking for a decent amp for no more than £300 pounds and loved the tone of the ampeg hybrid combo. I guess the tone I'm looking for is a warm tube tone. There must be other amps (heads, or combos) on the market which have comparable tones? It's just that I don't want to buy the first thing I see, but don't know enough about what's on offer. Can someone here help? I'm also looking at second hard gear of higher wattage. Cheers mates
Amp head....I would check out Mark Bass Little Mark 2 second hand, or 3 if brand new. Nice and light, very warm, great low end.
I'm feeling like I should buy some even though I don't use them.
Me to I dont need any more flats...but.... Which of the La Bellas flats have a lower tension?
-
The Staccato has a different EQ setup and tubetone/compressor when it is set 'flat'. I tested both the amps, and the main difference was the HUGE low end from the Staccato on the same settings as the RH450. The RH has a big low end anyway, so you can imagine what it sounds like. Plus, it was a little scooped for the finger funk style. Obviously, you can EQ them both to sound like each other. Basically, its Rocco's settings when the amp is set flat. The RH does everything I need. If you really dig Rocco, the Staccato would be cool.

Help: Annoying background noise from new Phil Jones Combo
Musicman20 replied to Beedster's topic in Amps and Cabs
Why not call another PJB supplier, i.e. guitarguitar and ask ? They tend to keep amps in stock and if you explain the scenario to them I think they'd offer some advice. I played a PJB Flightcase in the Edinburgh Shop and it sounded silent, but then I wasn't listening that intently. Call Andy aka Duck at the Edinburgh shop, and ask is my opinion.
I went to guitarguitar in Newcastle the other day for a mooch about and they had plenty of PJ stock. This sounds like a good idea. -
Help: Annoying background noise from new Phil Jones Combo
Musicman20 replied to Beedster's topic in Amps and Cabs
Maybe a refund on the PJ and then go for a second hand MB combo or the super small amp they do? If I remember correctly, you had a MB combo a while back? Would you go back to something like that? Hope you get it sorted....its annoying when things turn up with problems, or unexpected quirks. -
Read through as many of the pages as I could on the Talkbass thread(s) and the net result is that I have just ordered one from Mark at Bass Direct. Seems that I have an ever increasing bass amp collection to to go with my bass collection!
+1 same here. I think im more addicted to amps than basses....and Im not even gigging at the moment. If you are anything like me, you will really enjoy this amp.
Anyone paired an RH450 with Bergantino cabs - specifically the HT112/EX112?
I know there was some talk about this on talkbass. Not sure what the outcome was. I do believe the lows were HUGE so they had to dial some out. No doubt it will be fantastic.
