Well it's kinda interesting - you know what they say: "no such thing as bad publicity". Never really thought about Shuker basses much before this thread and now they're definitely on my radar!

Good stuff! The power rating on the TF amps has always been a bit of a bug bear and a number of users (on Talkbass in particular) have felt it is underpowered. The 1K is rated at 1,000 peak and therefore probably around 500W to 600W RMS, and I presume the .5k at half that. If the smaller one suffices for you, there's one going in the FS which I think has already been mentioned.

@Finbar welcome back! Not sure why you get a volume jump on your DG M900 when engaging dirt? It's pretty easy to balance using the drive level in my experience.

Sounds like a really good mod! Pups, EQ, pups = location, location, location for me with basses. They make most important "fixed" contribution to my sound on a bass. The 2 band EQ is also a no go for me with the model T, so I'm glad you've borne out my suspicions; Schecter do a decent 3 band EQ as well, so not sure why they've scrimped on this range, given its not "budget".

It really depends on the track. We range in style from Motown to Gun's 'n' Roses and AC/DC! The drummer prefers less throaty for sure, because he probably has his literal fill of 'throat' in his death metal band 😂

True, except going for two Js both together on a J bass is also noise cancelling. And some J pups are deliberately designed to eliminate coil hum. Just not the Yammy one!

Yes indeed I did, it definitely adds a bit more 'bite'. The pure P setting is the smoother of the two and interestingly has the least coil hum. (Which is magnified when rehearsing in a railway arch!)

Just the normal roundwounds that came with the bass (I don't think they specified make). They've had reasonable but not excessive use and I'm not a frequent string changer - quite happy to play in strings particularly on this as, a P/J bass.

Took the BB1025 out for a spin at rehearsal last night. I was a bit concerned that, particularly in just P setting, it wasn't cutting through as well as my Ibby SR1825 - certainly to my ears. Response from drummer was that he really liked the bass and although it was less 'throaty' (my phrase - he describes it as less 'aggressive') than the Ibby, it sat so well in the mix.

So having said you're after a Markbass tone from your amp, the DG M900v1 is now at the top of your list?! Lol! Not that it's a bad amp...it is my current gigging amp after all! But I wouldn't equate it to a Markbass amp. It is however shiny. Maybe that's all you really need? 😀

Thanks. But would a speaker cab = a musical "instrument?" I think we got comfortable when shifting an amp recently with Parcelforce that it was electronic kit rather than a musical instrument (which a bass would obviously be) and similarly bass pedals.

+1^^ Chris has pretty much nailed it. If you're after a more "hi fi" sound, based on what I've heard, then I'd swap out Markbass for Tecamp / Eich. Markbass cabs tend to roll off the treble a touch, giving a warmer but less crisp tone which some folk really like; others describe as a 'blanket' over their cabs. They are, however, significantly cheaper than some of the other cabs listed above but certainly still considered "high end" by your average non BCer! The other option instead of two 1x12 is, of course, a 2x12. For me, I've found my preferred 'compromise' between power handling, portability and great tone in my VK210 LNT (1200W AES, 44lbs). But the BF SC I bought off you still wins out for rehearsals and pub gigs for sheer convenience and my band can't believe how light it is!

You could of course get yourself a Tech21 Q/Strip to sort out your parmetric EQ needs & give you additional vintage tone options. That then frees you up to consider a whole world of amps, if you strip what the Q/Strip is bringing to the party from what the amp has to deliver. If you want capable, value for money and much loved by fellow BCers then you won't go too far wrong (and likely a very long way right) with: Q/Strip + either TC RH750 or Genzler Magellan 800

So did you pull the trigger?! I'm getting a horrible sense of GAS about this multifx...I can just see it being a complete one stop shop 'plug and play' mini pedal board for rehearsals and gigs in the way I never could imagine using my B3n for.
