  1. Haha - in your own time then As the drummer said to the bassist... 😁
  2. If you're starting to frequent this thread (and not merely 'lurking' πŸ˜€) then you definitely need to 'fess up to being a fully paid up member of our lovely club, which you indeed are! And let's get some pics up of that latest, rather classic, BB addition to the north of the border herd (please ).
  3. That really is a-rear (see what I did there**?) of a bass, isn't it? ** Aria in case you didn't πŸ˜„
  4. No! Please keep one on the neck of the bass, at ALL TIMES, otherwise you'll upset some folk.
  5. Is this thread still going? πŸ˜„ We all know what the answer is now, though, right? We have a lot of wood for au naturelle White catches the light even if it's off There something dark and dandy about black πŸ–€ although there's been a late burst to catch the sunset.
  6. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha... Will someone please check who is sending messages from Andy Travis' BC account please?!
  7. Agree with Jonathan on the OC-10 volume. I use mine with clean blend to fatten up my sound rather than for that classic solo'ed OC2 sound, so manage to maintain 'equivalent' volume that way. There's always the additional options of boosting volume via gain pedals (in my case my Keeley Bassist does this very well) or just adjusting on your bass, although I appreciate that's not something you will want to have to do often if you are kicking the thing on and off mid set!
  8. +1^^ He may be able to repair Downsides - could be several weeks before he does, so depends on how urgent. It may cost you more than a new Valeton OC-10 to get repaired, but on the other hand it'll mean you have a usable v2 T16 which you can move on for around Β£100!
  9. Do you have the older v1 COG T16 or newer v2 COG T16? The Valeton OC-10 is a good match for the v1 T16 volume wise, but the v2 T16 has a ridiculous amount of headroom! My approach is always for the volume to be neutral between a pedal being engaged and by-passed so I didn't particularly need to make use of the copious amount of headroom that the v2 T16 provided.
  10. Aha! I don't have my signature setting switched on or view any others' sigs since we swapped to the new platform, so was blithely oblivious of being out of date, and as it's more than a year old it definitely will be! πŸ˜„ @CameronJ - fixed!
  11. ... not sure how you came to that conclusion - mentioned having three in my post above. One of which, if you could ever risk playing purely active, you would absolutely love to bits
  12. That looks pretty similar to my first bass which I picked up for around Β£200 including case, early 2000s. I don't think they go for a great deal these days maybe Β£75 to Β£150 depending on condition:
  13. Well you'll have to excuse my coming on here to make the 1000th 'reply' on this thread, which started for me as someone who had never owned a Yammy and now has three and is finding that he loves them, and agreeing with you! It also continues to say something about just what a great bass the Yamaha BB has consistently been for over 4 decades: https://usa.yamaha.com/products/contents/guitars_basses/history/chronology/index.html And hard to deny that you have one of the loveliest BB "couples" yourself! Looking forward to a full detailed review from you, hopefully soon!
  14. More popular than black(!) - it seems the 'burst brigade' are losing their collective fear of the underworld gods and are now venturing out into the light, and burst is three times as popular as red! On the subject of red, that colour really should be reserved for Fender Strats IMO - although one of my basses actually comes perilously close to bearing that hue, despite it's maker describing it loosely as 'honey'; it's saving grace being that it's a neck through and, of course, plenty of bling hardware and, oh yes, a spare string for each of the four in case any of them breaks πŸ˜€...
  15. So should you be more properly known as Frick 4000?
  16. So upon carefully reviewing the facts, there is no question you clearly fall into the classic camp. You can rest easy tonight.
  17. No nerve, touched. My responses are all similarly tongue in cheek. Banter needs a response otherwise it goes to waste 😎
  18. And whether your basses were all Fenders!
  19. In order to give a thought through response to your question, we need to understand what songs you're playing? πŸ˜„
  20. Also! Who would have guessed that we would collectively have so much wood for wood? πŸ˜„
  21. Btw - whoever says that white or black are not paint finish colours is obviously talking bollox. I'm not taking that sort of nonsense on this lucid and deeply erudite thread. May be true for light beams in the case of black, but I'm not aware of any basses with a photon finish. Yet.
  22. @josie I know that Ibby have neck-through in their BTB range as you have rightly posted...but have back-tracked on providing us that choice with their SRs, even in the Prestige version, these days...πŸ˜”
  23. Well we might be conservative in our colour choices (some may prefer to refer to this as having 'taste') πŸ˜‚ but at least we have collectively discovered there is a world beyond Fender!
  24. 17,410,742 Just a number 29 March Just a date... πŸ˜‰ Right, back to bass colours after that short diversion. Clearly you need to get used to being on the losing team more often, Stew. It happens. 😁
  25. Not sure that's necessarily the best analogy? There is an element of craftsmanship that has been largely taken out of car production. Ask the same question about a piece of jewellery. Is a one-off or small run exquisite piece no different to something produced by Gerald Ratner?
