The tone of the Reverse P: when is it a Good Thing? when is it not?

Good thread Mr Rioli! -

Sounds like the Stanley Clarke could be your ideal pedal then given that you have the option of HPF or notch filter on either channel?

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?
Al Krow replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
If need be, we will be open to doing cut price gigs to help our local get things going again. I appreciate that's not going to be an easy or desirable choice for a lot of folk, but it's a small way we feel able to put something back into our local communities. Besides our local pub landlord has looked after both my bands really well over several years; it just seems the right thing to do to return the loyalty he's shown us. -
I'm resorting to a piece of kit which I suspect is going to be infinitely more capable of doing 80's FM synth and costs no more than a SYB-5. MASSIVE draw back is it's going to be a struggle to play it with a bass using pitch to midi conversion. Shame.

That's fair Pete. Things will take a long while to get back to normal. In fact what we knew as normal may never completely return and some things change permanently eg less office working / increased working from home, wearing masks on public transport etc. But folk are going to be in the mood for one heck of a party come the summer! -

And on your part maybe try not to get over-patronising 😉 But this isn't just about you Pete - a lot of us will be getting going well before Sept, fingers crossed! -

May 17th: looking at the details apparently venues can have up to 1,000 indoors provided they are no more than at 50% capacity. No idea whether this will extend to gigs or whether event managers are going to be able to get stuff organised in the next 3 months? Spring ends on Sunday June 20th this year. These vaccines and the way they have been successfully rolled out have been an amazing blessing - incredibly good news, in fact! And I hope, between us, there will be a fair bit of live music played by BC'ers this Spring. -

Excellent news!! Just had another BC mate say he's just had two bookings in June, which isn't quite by the end of May, but getting close. Yours, on the other hand, is very much this side of the end of May! And it's hopefully the first of many such snippets of good news that will serve to encourage everyone. -

Please keep us posted if any of you start to get enquiries for outdoor gigs post April 12 when pubs and restaurants can open out doors. Will obviously be very encouraging news to hear. -
Hotone Ampero2 Stomp apparently due for release in May / June, just in time for end of lock down.

Thanks Si - I'm actually looking to go straight into a synth pedal from a bass via midi (without a laptop in between), so I think from what you have said that rules out the Focusrite option, if that needs to be done via a DAW.
-
Thanks Douglas - that's encouraging to hear (particularly as the feedback on the G2Mv3 / B2M I've had from others has been somewhat disappointing). If I've understood correctly the Sonnus i2M provides additional recording interface capabilities to the G2M v3, but is otherwise the same tech? That could be useful to have, but my key immediate use is to be able to trigger a synth pedal e.g. the Moog Minitaur or Korg Volca FM with a bass rather than a keyboard. Does the i2M come with a USB --> 5 pin midi converter or would I need to buy that separately? How are you using your i2M? Also calling @stoo, @BigRedXand @Woodinblack as they're pretty knowledgeable about all this midi stuff!
-
@Sibob does Focusrite allow pitch to midi conversion for bass? I'm guessing it doesn't and that midi output on a Focusrite is only triggered by a midi enabled keyboard and I'll need something like a Sonnus G2M v3 for pitch to midi conversion? But I thought I'd check before forking out for a Sonnus.

That's useful and reassuring to know Mark. Particularly as you're about as professional as they come! For most folk playing functions, I suspect their PAs can handle a bit of bass, if needed. Obviously if you have a PA that is capable of handling vocal only, then DI into it isn't going to be a realistic plan B, but I don't know too many function bands on BC that have vocal only PAs.

I appreciate your restraint in these matters, good not to be overly flaunting it.

Anyone got a BB 604, BB434 (or possibly a BB734 or old BB 1000) gathering dust in a broom cupboard? If so... Yamaha BB604 - Items Wanted (NO TRADES) - Basschat Yamaha BB434 or similar - Items Wanted (NO TRADES) - Basschat

The more burning question is what are you going to spend your £2.80 Euro millions on?

Bear in mind your drive / fuzz pedals already have a fair bit of compression in them. The B1-4 does a very decent drive, fuzz and chorus. And it has a selection of compressors too. It's not going to be as good as some dedicated pedals (eg filter and synth) but you would expect that to be the case given the price differential, so you simply add key dedicated pedals you want and space permits. You can have upto 5 effects in any B1-4 patch and in any order (series only, it doesn't do parallel). And switch them off or on individually, so each of your 50 patches can each be a mini pedal board! So I'm not sure you will find it limiting at all 😊

I can see this going to be another costly dip into a BC thread...
