  1. If it's a holding photo then he's taking his time. That listing has been up for over a month.
  2. Sure thing. It'll still be early doors over there so might be a while before I here back from him.
  3. @Stub Mandrel My pal Rick Wilson restored one of the Tutmarcs. It's in a museum someplace. Might have been around the time he was working for George Gruhn.
  4. This one's a bit more sedate 😊
  5. Exhibits in Tokyo's Museum of Modern Art. Designed by Kio Ohkawa, built by Wishnevsky. A few of them appeared on Japanese TV.
  6. You'd be surprised just how playable his basses are 😊 The necks might look crazy thick but they are very comfortable, at least that's how I find his Lobe models. It's also refreshing to see somebody stick to their guns,if money was his goal he'd be churning out Fender copies like the rest . Part of his apprenticeship was with Ovation so he has the skills.
  7. Set of Picato strings just arrived this morning. Last bass related purchase of 2019 and Dave made it an easy one 🙂 Top Man.
  8. No ashamed tae admit ah love that song.
  9. Oh dear. If £160 is what this is going for I'll be lucky to get ten bob for mine. More Road Kill than Road Worn 😀 GLWTS
  10. Great bass. Been known to play one on the odd occasion 🙂
  11. Unlucky. I'm over 50 and still throw 90 lb soundblock sheets on walls and ceilings like it was 30 odd year ago. Not as strong as in my 30's but more than hold my own with the younger lads.
  12. No, I'm the same as you. First job on leaving school involved cement bags (112lbs) and plenty of stairs 🙂 Basses in the 10lb to 12lb range suit me fine. No surprise there as my tool belt weighs more👍
  13. Nightmare 😞
  14. Near enough 🙂 Sold those couple of year back and the Super-P earlier this year. Still have a 5 string Vantage.
  15. Wee pang o regret for selling this one 😭
  16. Happening fairly regular of late. The bridge and tuners are listed wrong on the "Enhanced" models and the photos of the progressive models are showing the old style bridge. Be nice if they were chambered, you could chose the shape of the cut out 🙂
  17. Not according to the fella I know. Got his last Thursday an he's saying solid body.
  18. Definitely solid body. Fella through Stirling way got his last Thursday. Says his weighs 8.10lb and balances quite well both on the knee or on a strap.
  19. I'm afraid it was a mistake saying that 🤣 https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_rb_414bk_classic_series.htm?sid=68996b485894d5bcc89c4cce97a8a99d Even strung with flats I don't remember it being particularly dark sounding. Pickup positions and strings trump body wood every time.
  20. Aye. The original version were semi hollow.
  21. Was the strangest thing. Didn't even need "For Sale " ads. Local lad was selling his bass uke and I innocently chipped in how much fun they were. Suddenly there was a queue of folk asking to buy the HBs. 6 wanted the fretted bass uke ,3 wanted the JB-75. Never saw anything like it 🙂
  22. Couple of years too late I'm afraid. Only PB-50s left.
  23. Tend to be on the heavy side of things. The 4 string was around 12lb ,can't see the 5'er being any lighter. Construction - Can't fault it,everything worked the way it should 👍 You might prefer to take the edge of the gloss finish on the neck. Had to sell mine under duress. After playing it a few times, a pal wouldn't let up with "when you selling it? Mind I'm first in line" . Only took him 6 month to wear me down 😀
  24. Great place if you fancy trying different styles of bass. Found out short scales, semi hollows, acoustics and bass ukes are not for me.
