  1. @Osiris If you don't have a router it's easier than trying with a chisel. If you sell the bass, fill the holes then cover with copper tape. I won't tell if you won't ๐Ÿ™Š
  2. Another method. Dab of white paint on the bottom of the screws, drop in the pickup area.Drill where the spots left by the paint.
  3. Bentley uses a P-bass with Markley Blue Steels .46 to.102. He did use a Duncan 1/4 lb'er but it's Dimarzio now. Pickups are wired direct to output socket .
  4. Most pickup cavities are roughly 18 mm deep, you'll have 7 mm exposed.
  5. That "pickguard planet" sells 4 or 5, difference seems to be number of screws/countersunk or not/trussrod access. When I stuck an MM in an old Peavey Foundation I intended going by the scratchplate, where the pickup landed was where it went. Didn't workout like that due to the existing pickup routs. Had to move the scratchplate, you won't have that problem ๐Ÿ™‚
  6. Sounds like you encountered a phase issue.
  7. Trying to imagine a situation where I'd be doing that.
  8. I didn't really think something that simple would work, the signal still gets collected in the same spot.
  9. I'm of the "pickup position is king" mindset myself ๐Ÿ™‚ Idle thought. Could we compensate for the position by moving our right hand towards the neck or bridge ?
  10. If I'm honest Quarter pounders would not be my choice, not against Entwistle PBXN. The Peavey Zodiac DE Scorpio came with Duncan 1/4 lbs. I had one and I had another built from DE parts picked up over time,it got Entwistle Neos. Same set up,same strings, same pickup heights etc. The Entwistles left the Duncans at the starting block, might be closer to say Entwistle took Olympic Gold while the Duncans came in fourth at a junior school's sports day ๐Ÿ™‚ That was not the only time I've found Quarter Pounders to be so/so. 2 Peavey Dynabass/Unity series, 1 with QP's the other with stock pickups, actually had those out last week looking for ID. The stock are wired same as Dimarzio. Again the QP's do not shine. IMO "Quarter Pounder" is a great name but that's all they have going for them.
  11. These 3 builds by 2SaddleSlab always make me smile, his old man machined the bridges for them years ago.
  12. Not quite the same. Buyer has parted with cash, you can bet they want the goods ASAP. Money is already in seller's account, onus is on the buyer to be in.
  13. I generally avoid any "buyer arrange shipping" ads. OK it takes 5 minutes to book a courier but it can turn into Me "is Monday good ?" Seller "No,Wednesday would be better" Me "OK. That's it set up" Seller "Cheers" 5 minutes later the seller's other half reminds them they are taking the kids to the dentist on Wednesday ๐Ÿ˜ฎ If it's Wednesday morning before the other half reveals the dentist appointment. Seller "Sorry mate, courier was a no show. Waited in all day." Sellers are in a far better position to know their whereabouts and availability for collections.
  14. He's a top bloke. Once got an email from him out of the blue alerting me about a bass I was seeking. Another time a Retrovibe beanie hat landed through the letterbox, said he felt sorry for baldie Scotsmen ๐Ÿ˜€ @Bankai Ask Mr K if he's any series/parallel mini switches for MM,handy wee addition to have ๐Ÿ‘
  15. Had a few experiences with Retrovibe, all good too. Be wary of that MM, the ones Mr K goes for will blow yer socks off ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
  16. Unscientific 5 minute test. 6mm x 1mm Neodym disc placed at the bottom of alnico 5 pole piece. Not a great deal of difference. Same size disc placed on the exposed pole piece. Massive jump in output but I'm getting a weird almost tremolo vibe, probably the wrong use of words ๐Ÿ˜€ Up at 5am so that's as far as I'll get tonight.
  17. Had my bucket list Vigiers and Tune Maniac a couple of year ๐Ÿ™‚ Still mostly found playing the ยฃ76 Harley Benton PB-50๐Ÿ˜ฎ
  18. I bought 60mm long neo bar magnets from Ali-Ex. Still never got round to trying them, but my plan was leave the old ones in place.
  19. I had 2 Zodiac DE Scorpios. 1 had the stock Duncan QPs, the other got Entwistle Neos. Bloody hell they were loud ๐Ÿ˜€ Duncans were like a church mouse compared to them ๐Ÿ‘
  20. This "snakewood" Lobe is a lovely example of a Wishbass. Spend some time on finishing and you get a fantastic results.
  21. Aye he tends to stick within his comfort zone and the limitations of the tools at hand. Better that than taking your money then not pulling it off.
  22. Guy has owned the bass 18 years, obviously it's not an issue ๐Ÿ‘ You should,Steve's bass ooze character. Writes a good book too, "How Hippies Ruin't Hillbilly Music " covers the whole living of the grid (landies) scene he was part of. Stills, shine, hash pipes, mad fiddle players with crazy names. It's a fun read ๐Ÿ˜€ Don't leave contacting him too long, must be in his mid 70's now.
  23. Been a joiner since leaving school, 36 year back.
  24. Maybe the price is too low. Wunjo want ยฃ549 for a 4 string ๐Ÿคฃ
  25. You're welcome Craig. Scorpio DE was one of the many Peaveys I've owned, bloody good bass ๐Ÿ™‚ With Mike over there it's no surprise they were quality. He spent some time with Dan Erlewine before his 30 years with Peavey. Sadly he passed away in 2013 and it's telling that Peavey haven't released a new bass design since then โ˜น๏ธ The Zodiac isn't one of Mike's designs,it's down to another long term Peavey fella ,Tim Litchfield. Anyway, enough of the history lesson. GLWTS ๐Ÿ‘
