  1. @tauzero It was mental, they put out over 40 models in 32 years. Managed to fit 50 of them into the living room for this photo.
  2. Owned a complete collection of Peavey basses, every model released USA and overseas from 1978 to 2010. Your post gave my inner geek an excuse to run free 🤣
  3. Doesn't appear to have a logo. At first I thought he had a 4 ace card sticker but now I'm seeing somebody's face; could be my painkillers taking effect 😄
  4. I'd place little faith in that TB thread 😁 2 confused TB members, 1 confused buyer and 1 very confused Peavey customer service rep 🤣 "The first Peavey grinds made outside of the US didn't have the BXP logo on them" How does the Peavey rep explain this ? I afraid there was no revamp 5 years ago since Peavey retired the Grind either just before or after the 2017 Cirrus re-issue. The catalogue snaps came from 2011 and 2015, here's a snap from 2008 and the body scoop had gone by then. That gives the scoop body a 4 year window and I've never heard anyone in any of the Peavey pages say they have a 34" scale length from that era. Common complaints are "it's heavy", "couldn't cope with 35"" and "thought the pickups were weak". Some of the Cirrus BXP dropped to 34" SL for a short while, could you be confusing the two ?
  5. Yes and no. In the original format, active/bolt on neck, both the USA and BXP 4 strings were 34" scale length. When Grind got a revamp as a passive neck through in 2004 , scale length changed to 35". My Grind BXP NTB is from the initial Vietnam production run, had no idea it was 35" until a friend asked how I was finding the longer scale length 😄
  6. Technically it's a C-4 NTB, Peavey couldn't really use 'Zephyr' as Epiphone had first dibs 😄 There's a few. C - series are 34" scale length, Grinds 35". Grind soapbars are 2 wires in series, C-4/5 were 4 wire in series and had a higher output. You find both bolt on and neck through C-series, Grinds were all neck through. Black hardware for Grinds, chrome for C-series.
  7. @anzoid Congratulations. I really like that, an exercise in good taste 👍
  8. Answered Ciaran's 'wanted' ad for 96 Foundation. Despite me taking an age to get it ready he stayed on board until the end. Man is a trooper 👍
  9. Looked at a Sire P7 preamp on Reverb. Pots are similar to Alpha 9mm. Thankfully neither Allparts nor Stewmac stock them, if they did the swines would want €16 instead of €4 like everywhere else 😁 Check the value need on your preamp then try https://www.banzaimusic.com/Alpha-9mm-Dual-Concentric/ or https://www.musikding.de/Alpha-Pots-9mm
  10. I wouldn't be so sure 🙂 I remember a no-name Japanese P-bass spent ages on eBay, BIN £100. After a few months the seller changed tack and it was BIN £180, sold within a couple of days 😄
  11. Bloody Hell !! Simple yet genius , cheers Paul I'll be using that 🙂
  12. Sometimes less than that. Put mine on FB last Friday at £50, had just one interested party. Sadly I had to refund the boy's cash last night, spotted a split in the fretboard when doing the pre-shipping clean and set up. Don't know who took the news worse, him or me 🙁
  13. Aye decent basses. Lighter than the US Furys and not a blatant Fender copy, unlike the US Furys 😄 Skinny jazz neck for those that like that sort of thing. 7.5 - 8 lbs with little chance of neck dive thanks the longer top horn, strap button lands at 11th fret.
  14. Glue dots. £1.50 to £2 for 64 dots, available in ASDA, Morrisons etc.
  15. @BCH Congratulations on both finding relief from the wrist strain and a new bass 🙂 Those Torzal necks caught my attention a few years back, brilliant idea .
  16. That Jet looks a lot like a Harley Benton 25th anniversary Firemist but they've changed the peghead slightly, sharpened the horns a wee bit then omitted the gigbag while adding £100 to the price. You're right we don't need another jazz bass 🤣
  17. To tell you what exactly ? The fella can't accept visitors, it starts and ends there; BC opinions won't change a thing. I doubt you'll buy that bass now but if you did you wouldn't be 'buying blindly', online purchases are covered by DSR; two weeks make your mind up time. Instore purchases don't come with the same protection.
  18. No, sounds like visits are off the cards for the time being. "He told me that i could only try for 10 mins, the basses are not set up, his workshop is small and his feeling unwell." His health and the workshop size should be clue enough, even 10 minutes in a confined space can be dangerous if your immune system is weak.
  19. Mate wants to see The Hu in Glasgow end of this month. I don't fancy it but he rode shotgun on last week's trip for NOFX in Leeds so only fair I make an effort.
  20. Dave. Bent Bit of Tin, it's shorthand for the Fender style bridges 👍
  21. So far. Wilkinson BBOT bridges, fitted them for myself and others; no problems / decent bit of kit. Wilkinson swivel 2 saddle bridge, bloody marvellous bit of kit 🙂 Tuners. Mini Gotoh type, 7 years on the 5 string, again no problems. Careful thought needed for the vintage type, mounting plate is big; tight fit on a 51 P-bass peghead but 5 years hassle free service. Pickups. No complaints regarding the alnico 5 jazz singles. 51 style single was a fantastic pickup, Duncan SCPB-1 but with more output; always keep an eye out for them in the for sale ads. Far as 'overrated' goes, I've bits and pieces from brand name folks that's definitely overrated and overpriced but the Wilkinson IMO is decent enough gear which serves it's intended purpose.
  22. Some place in this bloody tip of a house is a compass, if I could find it you'd know what way the magnets should be in no time 🤬
  23. I dug a set of JBXN out the drawer last night, the magnets meet in the middle. Another thing was the polarity is reversed, neck and bridge will snap together so watch your fingers 😁 I wonder if you might have the split coil the same polarity as the single coil and that's causing the phase issue.
  24. Afraid it matters. Good news is it's easy fixed 🙂 Just look at the magnet, there should be signs of glue or sticky label. Either match the sticky label or put it on glue face down 👍
  25. Nae good to me, I was after mud 👍
