2.
Why do you need it to be 4 ohm? If you want it as a cab for smaller gigs/rehearsals and you were going to use it with your Eden WT800, there'd be plenty enough kicked out of that Alternatively get this 8 ohm one and add another 8 ohm at a later date
Main reason was to use with my EA head and i want to get the full 350W out of it @ 4ohms, the Eden rig lives with another band really-plus i have no room to keep the Eden etc in my small house, i want a small loud funk & reggae rig using the EA head and i think the 10" speaker with the EA combo is blown, hence wanting a separate lightweight, but loud, cab @ 4ohms
3.
Have a bump on me for great cabs especially with the tweeter. The DB112 also got a very good review when BGM did a shoot-out between 1x12 cabs.
Bummer, wish it was 4ohm...can you fit some kind of inline resistor that makes them 4ohm? - Please forgive i know very little about speaker electronics!
4. Where do you buy these cabs new from? A 4 ohm would be ideal for me! Do they handle low freq's well...i.e. Dub sounds???

7. I passed on the 55-02 to Machines (glad your enjoying it mate) in a 3 way swap and ended up with a JO5 from Thunderthumbs....i have to truly say the JO5 is the best Jazz bass i have ever ever played, and was much than what i was looking for in a bass...amazing !
8. Hi despite my beasty as in my picture i am looking for a 2x10 for a smaller rig for some other band stuff that i am doing. I have an Ampeg USA made BSE 4x10HLF, its rated 4ohms and 400W. Has tweeter too. very nice sounding cab and in excellent condition (hardly used to be honest as i have the Warwick 6x10). Am looking for a 4ohm 2x10, the louder and lighter the better although i can live with heavy....loudness is the main thing! This is more or less the same spec, although mine is a BSE4x10HLF http://www.ampeg.com/products/b/b410hlf/index.html The cab is based in Devon
9. [quote n The x is a mute note. Sometimes he only plays the one high 'C' rather than three of them, etc. I've spaced it so if you count the empty beats as semiquaver rests it should be easy to get the timing right. Just don't get confused thinking the bar line in the middle is a chord at the first fret.
Nice one matey, i was very close but a few bits there for me....much basslove
10.
I have decided I need one cab as opposed to two so I am looking to trade my cabs for 1 4x10.. The cabs are a Hartke 2x10 XL and an Ashdown deep 1x15 They are in excellent condition. and are located in Bury Gtr Manchester
I've got a great Ampeg 4x10 Hlf (uSA made..not the cheap china ones!) that i would swap...but alas i am in Devon. If there's anyway of working it out i'd be interested! it has wheels too 4ohm 400W, i hardly use the 4x10 as i have a 6x10!
11.
Are you wanting tab for it or something? I could probably do that for you, but it's really easy to work out from listening to the intro. If you're officially giving up, say so and I'll knock up a tab.
thanks thisnameismistaken, a tab would be most ideal...and massively appreciated....thanks (just the main groove i'm sure i can improvise around it a bit as per the tune)
12.
Ooooooh! It's that song...
Yeah...thats the tune....well funky...but how d'ya play it?????
13.
The one I bought from "yesikris" has now been passed on to "Rasta" as part of a three way bass swap between him, myself and "Machines".
Yes, was a perfect 3 way swap as i was after a Jazz style 5 string. Machines was after a funky 5 string and Thunderthumbs was after a Stingray....so the story unfolded: I had a Lakland 5502 which i was able to drop off to Machines in the midlands as i had a gig there, damn fortunate as i live pretty close to the equator here in Devon (bloody rains more though). Anyhow i picked up the Stingray which i tried out briefly for a bit of reminiscence of my Stingray i owned many years ago - great sound indeed. Machines was a super dooper guy and initiated to the world of Lakalnd and i felt the 5502 went to a good home where it will get the groove treatment it deserves, it is a funk machine the 5502. I too funked out with my old band legendary funk band 'Booyaka' www.myspace.com/booyakafunk that weekend with the Stingray and had a funky good time, albeit copious amounts of hedonism and a gig in between! Alas i return to my southwest abode where Manchester based Thunderthumbs is taking a holiday in Newquay...damn fortunate again! He visited me in Devon to bring the lovely Lakalnd Joe Osbourne 5 string to swap for Machines old Stingray. The three way swap was complete! That night i spank away my fingers on the JO5 and yes it was total instant love, i'd say the best Jazz bass i have ever played actually......its true!....so there we have it the tale of the 3 way swap of 3 of the finest basserteers....all happy with their new swaps and a feeling that bass players trust is somewhat similar to the bonding of true Jedi's.
14. Cheers guys, yeah i was thinkin of doin the chromatic thing around D7 ish...still it'd be nice to know what is being played. Can anyone help with Expansions....if you haven't got the tune get it! Damn funky man Lonnie Liston Smith "Expansions"...think i first heard it at Glastonbury in the early 90's...well funky repetitive b-line...just wish i could work it out!
15.
Rock Steady is a fabulous groove. You're right, it's an A 'verse' with a D bridge. Honestly, don't bother looking for tab or anything for it, just give it a lot of listens and play along with it. It's all about feel, and you'll never get that from tab or transcripts. It's a mutha, you'll love it. A 2 note bassline has never been so funky
Whats those runs in that D bridge though...my ear isn't that good...knowing the notes would help, but yeah man i feel the riddim...or rhythm i should say in this case.
16. Hi Folks, I'm a 3 note reggae guy usually but i'm going to be jammin with another band soon and need the music tab or score or even just the riffs noted on ere' I heard that old Greg had lost the Funk soooo i'm on a mission to find it again (God & Bootsy willing!) Looking for Lonnie Liston Smith 'Expansions' (thinks its around C Pentatonic ish) & Aretha Franklins 'Rock Steay' (Thinks its A minor ish & D Bridge or Chorus bit) Any help would be massively appreciated!
17. My first 4x10 was a Loud Inc off ebay, great cab!- i used it back then with a Hartke 3500 and i used to cane it loads with dub....needless to say i blew the tweeter within 5 minutes but i didn't need it. Anyhow cut a long story short i had the Loud for around 5 years in various places/bands as a coffee table etc and i sold it about a year ago to a young bassist who is regularly gigging with it now 2-3 time s a month.
18. Hi, are these 300W's as it is or do you have to use an extension cab to get the total 300Watts output ? cheers
19. Yeah i was really lucky to meet the Dr. he bigged up my dub bass at a gig! CCCCCHHHHHAAAAARRRRGGGGEEEE
20. Stir it up- Bob Marley and the Wailers Chocolate City - Parliament High on You -Sly & The Family Stone Legalization (of the Ganja herb) - Culture Can't touch this - MC Hammer Chameleon - Herbie Hancock (albeit on Keys) Baltimore- Sly & Robbie Cholly - Funkadelic Psychoticbumpschool- Bootsy Collins Christopher Columbus - Burning Spear and finally a guilty pleasure....Rio-Duran Duran!!!!
21. Gwan play dem reggae dub riddim wid tone....cha bumbaclot = No tone fe sure.. for me it's just phat belly gully slinking resonance through a giant sound system...there's a lot to be said for just a note thats very loud and very bassy indeed....apparently the earth resonates in Eb-thats just one note - Don't get me wrong i love 'Portrait of Tracy' (thats lots of notes) with tone, but there is a lot to be said for just the bass, big dub tents aka jah Shaka, a Jazz or precision with tone rolled off and a natural smoke machine and 1000's of festinutters-pure and obese bass tone...they're grrrrreeeattt! Irie What am i talking about-try a SUBDUB night (Iration Steppaz)-footlong with reggae reggae bass food Sauce in Leeds!
22. I have a 75 Re-issue USA Jazz, a 98' Japan Precision bass and a lakland JO5 and they're all brilliant and have their own personalities when playing....i have to say though i am blown away with Lakland JO5, i can really recommend those Lindon Frailin (or something like that...can't remember exactly what they're called) pickups - for me passive basses all the way ! I did try a Fender USA Jazz 5 the other week....and well lets just say there's something in the Lak....a monster?
23. That bass is sooooooo nice....i'm buying the wife some flowers tonight prior to approaching her about this one, i'd probably have to do some wheeling and dealing myself though first!
