I've made this point before in previous threads with similar content ... context is everything. The landscape looks very different at 61 than it did at 16. The decisions you make (study or not study, for example) are driven by your view of that landscape, Having read the things that I have read here on Basschat over the last decade, if I were 16 then I'd have done things differently. As it happens, I'm not 16. Sad, but true.

Veering off topic, but staying on theme, I played a big social club a few months back and the regulars complained about the music I put through the PA during the breaks ... "not 70s enough", they said. We played there again last Saturday so I brought along a double CD of "Top Of The Pops - Best Of The Seventies". Halfway through the second break I realised that my PA was belting out "Whoah Black Betty - Bam-a-Lam!".

I had one of these years ago and, despite the high reputation and exorbitant price, I wasn't actually that impressed with it. Despite the wild design & looks, your bass is actually very similar to the Hofner 500/1 Beatle bass. There are so many of those out there that you should find that strings for Violin bass offer you the widest choice and lowest prices. You may also note that the 500/1 has shipped with what we all think of as 'guitar tuners' for the last 60 years ... if it ain't bust, don't fix it.
