1. Ah sorry guys, I've bought Fender73's. If for any reason the deal falls through I will get in touch. Thanks for the thought though.
2. I currently own a CV Jazz 60's that I am very pleased with, however I would like to have a P bass as well. Would like a Fender, but finances don't allow. Does anyone own a CV P bass and if so what are your thoughts. God or bad.
3. Police..Message In A Bottle. Easy to play, but fun nonetheless.
4. I'm actually faster playing with my fingers, but prefer the sound I get using a pick, so I'm working on both. Who's to say which is right or wrong?
5. For me, Phil Lynott, Paul McCartney and Andy Frazer. Nothing fancy, but that's the way I like it.
6.
i completly disagree with i) and say tabs are the absolute best way to start learning songs n
+1 on learning tab to start with. It's certainly helped me learn some songs and there is nothing better than being able to play some tunes.
7.
I also recommend the Squire, either one of the Vintage or Classic Vibe models.
+1 on the Squier. I play a 60's Classic Vibe and it's very well made. A lot of bass for the money IMO.
8.
Forgot Rory Gallagher.
+1 for Rory Gallagher Clapton Gary Moore
9.
I will always think of you as a "Fat Boy" Uggy
Thanks mate............ I think!
10.
It's all matt black with a matt silver frame. Previously I owned I full on 'tart's handbag' in flip/flop blue & purple with silver flashes & dripping with chrome everywhere
I remember it well Mr M! Actually this gives me an excuse to post a pic of my H-D. Just sold it and now the proud owner of a Triumph Speed Triple!
11. I was looking for a teacher recently, have a look at this. Some good points here. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...&hl=teacher
12. I've never walked into a shop and played any basses, I would feel too intimidated with my lack of ability, so I've bought both the basses I have owned on line. The advantage of doing this is you generally have much more stock to choose from, but the obvious disadvantage is the fact that you can't play it before you have bought it. I've been lucky so far and have been pleased with both purchases.
13. I am gassing for a P bass. I currently own and like very much a 60's Classic Vibe Jazz. In your opinion would a Highway 1 P, with the Badass bridge be worth the £220 extra over the 60's Classic Vibe P?
14. Thanks everyone for your feedback. I'm thinking a drum machine is the way to go as most have a metronome facility built in, so best of both worlds. Another dumb question, can I play it through my bass amp, or would I need some other kind of amplification?
15. I've heard say that it's best to practise with some kind of back beat to help timing. Would you say that a basic metronome would be best for the job, or would you recommend splashing out on a drum machine, or anything else for that matter?
16.
As I am a beginner (no problem with being referred to as one) and a BC newbie, I thought I'd post to express an opinion. Well actually, I'm going to quote from page 1 as it sums up what I'm worried about. I've seen this happen on other non-bass forums. People with the real knowledge and experience don't learn or find anything interesting in the "beginners" section and so stop visiting, then the only people left to answer questions are other beginners. No disrespect to other beginners, but what we know (or think we know) needs to be balanced with the opinions of the more experienced. I can appreciate its sometimes intimidating for beginners to post in the main forums; and I can also appreciate it might be tiresome for you pros to read the same basic questions over and over. But by being able to ask a question to the whole of BC, it gets a more comprehensive exposure; and the more experienced players who might not actively go looking to impart their wisdom often seem to read these threads and can't help posting. From what I've seen this results in a lot of useful info and discussion. This forum is currently great for beginners; one of the best I've seen in way too many years of being a web forums user.
As a beginner I go along with this. It's good that beginners can share ideas and help each other, but to pick the experienced members brains as well is invaluable. I haven't as yet come across anyone on this site who has dissed me for being a beginner. I have only received positive comments and help.
17. If it was me and I had the opportunity to play in the band I would go for it. If you turn it down and they go global or something how would you feel then?
18. 1 Ashdown which is a real bummer as I own one, but can't get it to sound the way I want. 2 Mojo, 'nuff said 3 Headstocks that are the same colour as the body
19. Was just reading the thread on whether to use a pick or your fingers. Well I like to use my fingers, but don't like the sound I produce. I'm not very good at it, so I use a pick, I'm not very good at that either TBO, but I prefer the sound I get. However, I recently tried using just my thumb and that produces a nice fat sound that I like. Is there any reason not to just use my thumb? Just edited to say that when I use my thumb it's not slapping, but just plucking.
20. Recorded it on my Sky+ box. It went bang this morning, so that's that, won't see it now boo hoo!
21. What about the bassist for Free, Andy Fraser I think. Is he British? I love his bass lines
22. Got the book Fretboard Roadmaps. Just got to figure out what it all means now!
23. I've used GAK and Reidys in the past. Both been good and reliable, though I haven't needed to send anything back and I don't know what their aftersales are like. But good range of stock for both.
